R34 10th Anniversary Charity Cruise N Show N Shine
God_speed replied to mxfly's topic in Events Archive
Yeah the Nismo side skirts and rear pods make a big difference to how low the R34 GT-R looks. Made a big difference to Terry's black R34 GT-R like Bakes', and Eugene's R34 GT-R as well. From what I hear it was a real pain trying to match up the Midnight Purple III already on Eugene's car with the side skirts so it would look the same from every angle. Also bloody expensive, that paint -

Sick. I've always wanted wheel nuts like that but I don't think I've got the balls to put them on. -

They need to be... I just looked up the specs - 1985kg... I also thought they had 300kW but they only have 270. 7.35 kg/kW is still respectable though. Sorry I know it's OT -

I love the R34 GT-R in black the best, but MNP is not far behind at all. When you rocked up at Regatta the car just commanded attention! I would have loved to see a red R34 GT-R or a yellow one. I know there are many GT's around but those colours on a GT-R would look amazing. You'd need clear lenses on both though. A yellow one with black LMGT4s filling the guards and slammed would look incredible I reckon. Haha it was good to meet you as well Laith (I was in the R33 GT-R). All the best with your leg! Haha I got a number of Fords in my photos as well for some reason, have to crop them out later Anyone else notice Sensei Dave's car was an HSV Avalanche as well? Pretty rare beast. -

That's why you were in your car a lot of the time... I think there were a few incidences when people didn't realise the car they were looking at had people sitting in it. My mate was staying warm inside my car while I was out and about... at one point, one of the Envy girls was standing in front of my car but then turned around to adjust her clothing. My mate got a pretty good (unexpected view) -
Thanks Nick. I was checking out those rims on the day as it happens. Can only agree with the votes on that one . I also liked Terry's Advan RGs, Bakes' bling bling GTCs and the white LMGT4s on Steve's Bayside R34 look great.

Glad you liked the photo Jason. It was great to see a variety of different colours in the R34s which I was trying to show in some of my photos. Maybe we will organise some porta-loos on our next one! -

That's farkin funny You got a good memory to think back to such a random (yet appropriate) pic (mainly the background Terry, not the subject!). I went to bed early (by my standards) so feelin ok; was dodgy last night though I had to drive all the way back to the city and could feel a cold coming on. Lots of tea though and about 2000mg of Vit C and I'm all good today. Extra points though for the Canberra kids for driving all the way back down south, glad they are ok! -
Hey guys, can anyone please describe Fernando Wells' wheels? Make / model? I can't remember the car and would like to know what is so special about them Also, can anyone describe Steve's in-car entertainment / stereo equipment? Never saw inside his car. Seriously though all prizes (except R33 ) thoroughly deserved, thanks to anyone who voted for my beast.

Looks like Terry is about to do a John Daly impersonation (sans beer gut and cigarette) "You want your camera back?? DO YA?" Nice pics Linton! Yes you are biased but the car is shmick. Especially having just been picked up from the workshop the morning of the event. -

Nice pics Sean, shows how many R34 GT-Rs showed up on the day (tons) It was great to see not just one but two Midnight Purple III GT-Rs as well, they are pretty damn rare. -

It was in awesome condition especially for its vintage Ravenoak! Sorry if I was holding you up on the cruise but I had to keep the group nice and tight! -

+1, There is no doubt it is absolutely awesome to see (and hear) the R34 GT-Rs launching hard... But there's a time and place to do it; the Regatta centre was a bit iffy for us organisers as, the way I see it, they were respectful enough to let us park there (in a restricted parking area) without causing us grief, so we should respect the area in return (even if it was a quiet street). On public roads in amongst other cars (i.e. roundabout with other cars) is pretty stupid. Let's try not to feed the Today Tonight stereotype, they have enough bad material already. Kudos to everyone who behaved themselves and drove carefully around the Avenue at Mt Wilson. It was a bit more cramped than we had hoped but I think the cars looked fantastic under those trees. Hope everyone had a good time. -
See Terry it IS worthwhile cleaning the INSIDE of your wheels as well as the outside... And buying rims with spokes thin enough to let you do that.

Fantastic day, thanks to everyone for coming along, and to those who made the extra effort to vote. Here are a few pics that I took (I've taken quite a few that are similar to the great ones above (but not as good) so here are some others... -

Does anyone know if this will hook up and work with a Series 1 '95 R33 GTR? I'd want the airbag to work and everything. -

That's right mate, everyone should be stocking up food-wise before getting to the initial meet at the Regatta Centre at Penrith, as we have no planned stops from Penrith to Mount Wilson, as per Eugene (mxfly)'s program. Make sure you bring Eugene's PDF program, your buff'd and wax'd ride, some food, and a pen/pencil if you can, to help with the voting. Everyone should have a great time, but take note the police are informed about the event at both ends, and if they smell trouble, well the source of the trouble will be snuffed out. So don't forget your best behaviour as well (yes mum) Weather forecast looks good, BOM says showers until Thursday, clearing Friday with temps in mid 20s Fri-Sat. So a good opp. on Sat to do your detailing as Shanil has recommended -
I'll go and see this movie at some point. Looks like you boys had a good hassle-free night; which is also good news for us next weekend - if there had been mischief the boys in blue would not be cutting us any slack on our trip to Mount Wilson on the 26th, or any other event in the near future. Kudos for behaving yourselves hehe

Hey fellas, note the meet up time is 9.30 for a 10.30am DEPARTURE... great to see you there if you ain't still sloshed and can make it. Respect on Saturday, Drive on Sunday Here are some extra details as posted in the main thread. STARTING VENUE IS NOW PENRITH REGATTA CENTRE The address is at Old Castlereagh Rd Castlereagh just north of Penrith. This is more picturesque for pics and one Japanese lady is intending to be present. We hope HPI will be there too. But we know they'll be at Mt Wilson anyway. STARTING TIME IS NOW 9.30 -10.30 with ETD at 10.30 SHARP This enables us to still get to Mt Wilson by 12 noon. This also helps to keep the 3 groups of cars in close proximity by avoiding > 20 traffic lights. It's a scenic piece of tarmac towards Richmond where we turn left onto Bells Line Of Road. Cheers, Matt

Hey everyone, For those of you attending this month's R34 10th Anniversary Charity Cruise, and Show 'n' Shine; here we are announcing the categories in which it is possible to win an award. All attendees will have the opportunity to have their vehicle judged. And all attendees will have the opportunity to put in votes for the car they think is best on certain criteria. You will note that as it is a day to commemorate the R34 Skyline, all except a few (otherwise stated) awards will be given to R34 Skylines attending on the day. At this stage, the plan is to conduct voting once we reach the photo shoot location at Mount Wilson. There are 12 categories, as follows: Best R34 Skyline GT-R Best R34 Skyline (non GT-R; can be GT, GTt, 4 door, etc) Best R34 Interior Best R34 Exterior / Paintwork Best R34 Engine Bay (judged on workmanship / performance upgrades as well as aesthetics) Best Wheels on an R34 Skyline Best ICE / Hi-Fi in an R34 * Best R32 Skyline Best R33 Skyline Best R35 GT-R Best Non-R32 / R33 / R34 / R35 ** R34 Concourse Award *** * The In-Car Entertainment / Hi-Fi award is not a sound-off! It will be judged primarily on the quality of workmanship, extensiveness of ICE fitout and the quality of sound produced, NOT raw dB (peak noise output level). Once again we stress that all participants must respect the driving/parking environment that we are in (includes the hearing of members of the public). ** Your favourite attendee's car on the day that is not an R32 or R33 or R34 or "R35", this therefore means it could be a Stagea, S13 / S14 / S15, V35, Z32, Z33 or whatever happens to be there on the day. *** Obviously Skylines are tuners' cars and it's possible there won't be any completely and utterly 'stock' examples of R34s there on the day, but this award will go to an immaculate, very well looked after R34 that is most likely (but doesn't have to be) very close to original, and epitomises the super happy fun special warm deluxe feeling of R34. Below are some samples of our certificates to be awarded. Prizes will also be on offer for the lucky winners! A golden opportunity to boost the re-sale value of your Skyline!!! Update: We are in the process of having these Award Certificates signed by none other than Mr Mark Skaife! All the more incentive to have your cars looking extra 'fly' on the day, to win a prize and an autographed certificate by the legend himself! Finally, please note if you are attending, that the start location has now changed. We are no longer meeting at Homebush. The new start location is at the Sydney International Regatta Centre, Penrith. Check out the post in the NSW > Events section for details.
