  1. Hey everyone, For those of you attending this month's R34 10th Anniversary Charity Cruise, and Show 'n' Shine; here we are announcing the categories in which it is possible to win an award. All attendees will have the opportunity to have their vehicle judged. And all attendees will have the opportunity to put in votes for the car they think is best on certain criteria. You will note that as it is a day to commemorate the R34 Skyline, all except a few (otherwise stated) awards will be given to R34 Skylines attending on the day. At this stage, the plan is to conduct voting once we reach the photo shoot location at Mount Wilson. There are 12 categories, as follows: Best R34 Skyline GT-R Best R34 Skyline (non GT-R; can be GT, GTt, 4 door, etc) Best R34 Interior Best R34 Exterior / Paintwork Best R34 Engine Bay (judged on workmanship / performance upgrades as well as aesthetics) Best Wheels on an R34 Skyline Best ICE / Hi-Fi in an R34 * Best R32 Skyline Best R33 Skyline Best R35 GT-R Best Non-R32 / R33 / R34 / R35 ** R34 Concourse Award *** * The In-Car Entertainment / Hi-Fi award is not a sound-off! It will be judged primarily on the quality of workmanship, extensiveness of ICE fitout and the quality of sound produced, NOT raw dB (peak noise output level). Once again we stress that all participants must respect the driving/parking environment that we are in (includes the hearing of members of the public). ** Your favourite attendee's car on the day that is not an R32 or R33 or R34 or "R35", this therefore means it could be a Stagea, S13 / S14 / S15, V35, Z32, Z33 or whatever happens to be there on the day. *** Obviously Skylines are tuners' cars and it's possible there won't be any completely and utterly 'stock' examples of R34s there on the day, but this award will go to an immaculate, very well looked after R34 that is most likely (but doesn't have to be) very close to original, and epitomises the super happy fun special warm deluxe feeling of R34. Below are some samples of our certificates to be awarded. Prizes will also be on offer for the lucky winners! A golden opportunity to boost the re-sale value of your Skyline!!! Update: We are in the process of having these Award Certificates signed by none other than Mr Mark Skaife! All the more incentive to have your cars looking extra 'fly' on the day, to win a prize and an autographed certificate by the legend himself! Finally, please note if you are attending, that the start location has now changed. We are no longer meeting at Homebush. The new start location is at the Sydney International Regatta Centre, Penrith. Check out the post in the NSW > Events section for details.

  4. Guys if you haven't yet checked it out, the final Awards Categories that apply for the event are posted in a separate "Awards Categories" thread. Prizes will be given out to the winners as well as some great certificates that are to be signed by our 90s hero Mark Skaife (what ever happened to that bloke after winning the series in an R32 GT-R??)

  6. Haven't met you yet Peter, we'll see about that
  7. Nice Pic Dave. It will look awesome with all the R34s (and the rest) lined up along there. Everyone should bring their cameras What we might do is set up a flickr group photo pool that everyone can submit to after the event, to keep all the awesome photos in one spot so that everyone can access them (obviously HPI will be doing their own photos as well).

  9. Updated long-term weather forecast looks like we will just miss out on the rain that will hit during that week. Only 14 days to go... See you all at the Penrith Regatta Centre. This is shaping up to be a huge event.
  10. I bought my 1995 Series 1 R33 GT-R back in October 2005 with 45,000km on the odometer. I bought it privately from someone in south Sydney and it was exactly what I was looking for (and it sounds similar to yours); it was completely stock with stock exhaust, suspension, engine bay, etc. I've now had the car 3.5 years and it has 95,000km, a mixture of city driving (including start-stop traffic) and highway cruising. I still love the look of the car; you can easily bring it bang up-to-date by just getting some quality aftermarket suspension (dropping about 1") and some lower offset (less positive offset) wheels, and by keeping the paint in good nick. I've not yet touched the engine but plan to do a few things to it yet like a Power FC. The only mods to the car so far have been TEIN coilovers, Midori high-flow cat and Fujitsubo exhaust, and an oil catch can. I also bought some Series 3 Xenon headlights and some Volk RE30s for the car not long ago. If you're looking at upgrading tyres I'd recommend the Bridgestone RE001s I've got as they are a good performance/price compromise; about $1350 fitted for a set of 4 265/35 18s. In terms of reliability, the car has only ever had one issue since I took it to Oran Park one day for a training session, it was going fine all day until the afternoon when power and RPM was cut severely and it was blowing black smoke. After quite a few weeks in the workshop and a few thousand dollars in diagnosis, parts and labour, it has been fixed. A number of things needed to be replaced, including a blocked fuel return valve, fuel filter and fuel pump, a crank angle sensor and a throttle position sensor. All in all though, the car has been incredibly reliable given the km I have done and the performance it offers even as a stock vehicle. I make sure I change the oil + filters every 5,000km. At the recent Envy Dyno Day it achieved ~188kW at all four wheels, a healthy figure for a stock-ish 13.5 year old GTR. It's also noticeably roomier in the back than the R34 GTR in our family.
  11. Have they actually closed their doors (literally) or are they still trading as a "going concern", i.e. continuing with Sales / Service, waiting for new ownership? A lot of regional dealers nationwide will be on the brink right now.
  12. I bought a set of RE30s in 18" x 9.5". Thanks anyway mate. Matt
  13. These are still for sale. Price is $3,300 o.n.o. I have 4x 5mm slip-on spacers to go with each wheel, so that they will clear GT-R calipers. If using the slip-on spacers, the wheels WILL still sit cleanly on the spigot (not merely on the studs alone).
  14. SHELL SERVO On the map, it's basically at point A - as Terry said its on your left as soon as you turn right onto Mulgoa. Best to enter from the Mulgoa Road entrance as opposed to turning left into Super Cheap complex then turning right - the driveways are more forgiving on the entrance/exit on the main road. I saw your R34 on Parramatta road last night Kefe (WWRIOR) - the rear LEDs caught my eye... Looks fantastic, lookin forward to having a closer look on the day According to the website there is also a Shell servo that has V Power at Richmond (for the trip back to Sydney) COLES EXPRESS CLARENDON 244 Richmond Road Clarendon , 2756 NSW
  15. Hey all, Yes we are now meeting at the Sydney International Regatta Centre at Penrith - where the rowing was held during the Sydney Olympics More details will follow from Eugene and the other guys but here is some info for now... Approx time from Sydney CBD to meeting point is 1 hour 5 mins, or 60km. If coming from Sydney: Heading west-bound on the M4, take Mulgoa Rd exit (2nd exit for Penrith). Turn right onto Mulgoa Rd (A above). Heading north. You will pass through Penrith and the road will become Castlereagh Rd. You will pass through one small roundabout and start to see blue signs to the Regatta Centre, then you will reach a nice, very large roundabout where you will turn left (B) onto Old Castlereagh Road. You will see the Centre on the right. Look for Gate A (see below second map). Gates B and C will likely be shut. After entering Gate A, turn right and head to the area in red on the above map. There is 45-degree angle parking here, so as you arrive, park rear-to-kerb with the front of your car facing out so that we can take some good pics after everyone turns up. Should go without saying that as you arrive please keep noise, etc to a minimum as we really do not want to rub the public up the wrong way. Cheers, Matt
  16. Unlucky mate, sorry to hear. Fingers crossed they lift some good prints and you can catch 'em Was your car parked on the street or in a parking garage / round back of the house? Major road?
  17. No worries at all mate. The car looks very neat and tidy; it would look nice as black or the way it is now! The R33 GT-R wheels really suit the R32s well.
  18. Hey... I was a bit bored I had to adjust the levels a bit in the pre photo; the shadow around the front of the car makes changing to black difficult without losing the lower front bumper detail. After: Most metallic blacks will still have a little hue in them, plus it looks like it's sunset so some of the red/yellow is reflected in the paintwork. The rims were pretty close to white to begin with but I've brightened them up too
  19. The letter is a good idea, otherwise the best thing to do is just alert owners with theft-magnet cars to the problem, which is what this threat is doing, so that's good... And get comprehensive insurance if your car is worth over $5,000. Or try Mr Bean's method - as if parking in a spot so narrow you can't open the doors and putting a padlock on your door isn't enough;
  20. It'll be fantastic to see some guys and girls from the Capital Are you guys organising somewhere to stay over? 28-Day forecast til the week of the 26th says we should hopefully get away with sunshine, but there are two cold fronts either side of that weekend so there is still the possibility of rain Remember, IF there is rain on the 26th we will go ahead with the following weekend (3rd May). Look forward to seeing you all there Matt
  21. Some more info in Dan Fewster's article in The Motor Report today. The first ADM owner has taken delivery and the article outlines some of the dealership servicing plan. The new owner still appears to be smiling at this stage... http://www.themotorreport.com.au/25339/fir...after-midnight/
  22. I reckon pricing for the SpecV should be roughly in the same proportion as the Porsche 911 GT3 RS is to the standard GT3. 911 GT3 from EUR 106,000 911 GT3 RS EUR 129,000 (+22%) The idea of an even higher-performing GTR is exciting, and with all the aftermarket tuning already possible for the standard car it is not that surprising that Nissan would be able to extract more from the R35.
  23. Hope you are having a good one Eugene
  24. My oath. I liked the colour otherwise. So at least three of us spotted this dude... guess thats what happens when your tail lights act as headlights Good way to get attention; from cops too no doubt
