    Z06 Vs R35

I must admit that like R31 Heaven, in the recent past I have still had some lingering preconceptions about american cars and their handling abilities, which would have made me skeptical about a 'vette keeping up with a GT-R on a track... but one has to give credit where it's due, and the Vette is now a true force to be reckoned with. For some, like me, you have to do a bit of research and see /read about a new vette in action to see just how phenomenal they are (as well as some other US product like the Viper, or Caddy CTS-V). Some others actually just have a problem acknowledging the ability of a car from a manufacturer they just don't like. I don't R31Heaven fits in that second category though.

    The Wall!

Great idea for a poll... I actually thought the opposite; Clarkson likes it but it's not Sub-zero, it's "too geeky". I think he's made too much of a fuss about it to put it in the uncool section but I could be wrong. I think Richard doesn't like it; he keeps calling it a Datsun and that joke is funny once, lame twice and the number of times it's been said now, it's just plain stupid. Does anyone know where the R34 GT-R is on the wall (if at all)? The big-boned dude drove it back in Season 1.
  3. Like everyone else here I was shocked at the apparent scale of the theft. Based on what you've just said, you've got to say that these guys were incredibly brash and from a thief's point of view, stupid - you would think that the last thing you do with a stolen car is let it get spotted (probably cruizing Brighton or something). But it also sounds like cops as well as the SAU and forum community have done their bit on the lookout for the cars and the goods. Superb effort. GL getting back on your feet; Keep us updated with the followup, the cops should now be able to round up the rest of the f*ckers as well, hopefully. Maybe you should consider keeping some (hungry) rotties on your payroll too.
  4. Very nice car mate. Might have to hit those guys up for an R34 GT-R if I decide to go that route. Hope you're going well with the manual shifting, the R34 gearbox has a great shift action which helps
  5. And also of course the reflectors on the rear guard - red instead of white? Yeah its a shame that the US spec cars always get the orange side markers especially on Ferraris and Lambos where the original car wasn't made for side markers but they've been slapped on anyway.
  6. I also think it'll be around the 1.20 mark; based on other tests such as EVO's R35 v 997 GT3 at Bedford, the R35 should be about 1-2s faster than the 997. Wouldn't you say TG's test track is also a fairly 'fast' track? This should also favour the GT-R's mass which is on the heavy side as well as its gearing and horsepower. Either way. Look at the top 21 cars on the TG circuit below. If I'm not mistaken there would be no other cars here in this rarified territory that are as quick as the GT-R, yet are also relatively affordable (sub $180K) AND have a back seat too, so your mates can come along. 1 Ascari A10 1.17.3 2 Koenigsegg CCX (with TG spoiler) 1.17.6 3 Pagani Zonda F 1.18.4 4 Maserati MC12 1.18.9 5 Ferrari Enzo 1.19.0 6 Ariel Atom 1.19.5 7 Lamborghini LP640 1.19.8 8 Porsche Carrera GT 1.19.8 9 Ascari KZ1 1.20.7 10 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 1.20.9 11 Ferrari 599 GTB 1.21.2 12 Ford GT 1.21.9 13 Porsche GT3 RS 1.22.3 14 Ferrari 360 CS 1.22.3 15 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 1.22.4 16 Noble M15 1.22.5 17 Ferrari F430 1.22.9 18 Lamborghini Murcielago 1.23.7 19 Pagani Zonda 1.23.8 20 Koenigsegg 1.23.9 21 Audi R8 1.24.4
  7. You can add my kudos to the list, awesome job mate. About the watermarks; it makes you think about the next time it rains and your car is parked on the street (say at work), then the sun comes out straight after! Would look a bit weird drying your car with a towel outside the office...
  8. Yeah one of those newsreader girls looked kinda cute... and how about that Alfa 8C - absolutely stunning. Apparently there will be a new one coming out soon to celebrate Alfa Romeo's 100th in 2010... Like Jeremy if I had that amount of dosh I wouldn't be that fussed with the way it handles - the way it looks and sounds would be enough
  9. Yeah, ta mate, I've actually downloaded all of the more modern Top Gear seasons 1-current and have an old Top Gear Supercars VHS tape from 1991-odd lying around somewhere... I know TG's all about entertainment, my point is that it didn't seem as much of an "epic adventure" like some of the other ones, IMO. It's probably just the fact that anticipation was so high for this particular race and I'm a GT-R owner and fan. I guess when I see the ep a second time I might change my view of it slightly. I also know that Jez hates Porsches as much as Richard loves them, just hope the other two give the GT-R respect where it's due!
  10. I agree with akeenan. I just caught the episode through a torrent and was a bit disappointed particularly in the amount of time / discussion devoted to the car. I also thought there'd be a bit more about the Japanese culture, but oh well. Before bringing on the stars in the reasonably-priced car, JC did say they'd be doing a track feature on the GT-R later in the series, so we can look forward to that. Also, after they repeatedly referred to it as a Datsun (in a derogatory way) my respect level for James and the Hamster also went down! By Richard's logic, his beloved Porsches should then be called Volkswagens.
  11. Price drop $450 these are soooooooooo cheap!
  12. Hey guys, I have done some searches and while I can find good workshops in general, what I am after is good tyre fitter with a good range of tyres that you've had experience with in fitting tyres to 'reverse rims', in other words wheels that are closer to a negative offset and have a deep dish. I'm planning to get some nice RAYS GT-Cs for the GTR with a +12 offset and the last thing I want is for the rim edges/dish to get scuffed and stuffed up when the tyres are fitted (cos they have to go onto the machine the other way around apparently??) I've been to a tyre fitter before with reverse rims only to have them scratch up the rims and they simply apologised and said they're nothing they could do (I only let it go cos the wheels were not mint condition to begin with).
  13. Price drop to $500 guys. Great condition GTR headlights. The xenon kit is very good quality, makes the car look pretty classy. While these housings are not designed for xenon bulbs the alignment of the low beam is quite good and does not dazzle drivers ahead.
  14. Left Right Item: Series 1 R33 GT-R headlights (pair) Age: Have come from a 1995 GT-R with 85,000km Condition: Great condition. No noticeable yellowing, lenses are very clear. There is some dullness in the plastic around the top inch or so of the RHS headlight, could be removed with a plastic polish. NO CHIPS OR CRACKS, headlights are perfectly intact. Price: $600 To Fit: (What car) R33 GT-R. Apparently these will not fit GTS skylines very well. Location: Sydney inner south west Contact: Matt, (0404)495329
