  1. There are some differences but cab be changed to the later model , the only sure way to tell is the engine number.
  2. I think you will find that the mfd reads a little higher than actual temp ( about 3 degrees i find . 95 degree oil temp on a 40 degree day and you are concerned, if you drive it hard it will hit at least 110.
  3. The old shape sti's are quicker because they are very light . Very easy to get the 2door ( v6) to do mid 12's , all you need is a power f/c and exhaust . The current shape sti's have to lug an extra 150 kg !!
  4. You can still use the poncams on the N1 , use your existing CAS. Depending on how much power your after , dont forget N1 blocks are better too .
  5. Even if you found a block in good nick and with a standard bore what makes you think thay will be the same size as yours rb blocks are graded . I thought you said before your block is in good nick !! Do the right thing rebore your block ( if its not cracked ) and use oversize pistons or you will be sorry, you will have the engine out again very soon if you try to cut to many corners .
  6. Depends , some are quiet some are very noisy, most jap exhausts are not droney .
  7. Yes its called revenue raising, have you noticed how the cops will set speed traps on the safest part of the road they NEVER patrol the most dangerous. i2icho if you elect to take the matter to court you can have it reduced to between 15-30 km over the limit, that way you wont loose your licence. you can argue that the radar or even laser is not 100% accurate and its less than 4% to have it reduced to the lower charge . Good luck with whatever you deside to do . For the rest of you just remember that the cops make mistakes sometimes.....and because they know not many people ( if any ) will challenge they just write the ticket .... Just have a look at this: http://www.smh.com.au/news/national/a-fine...0823397654.html
  8. www.motortraders.net In sydney
  9. Do you have centre caps for them ?
  10. Not so , they have a separate chip for the oddo! Blueprint , very easy for the pros , even easier than the old none digital odds but impossible for the amatur.
  11. They are just pressed in, take them out and chrome them too then repress them back in .
  12. Its very hard to say you need to inspect very thorough , look for bent front rails . It could be just engine mounts broken or bent rails , pushed back A pillars to a completely bent floorpan . Check to see3 if the doors open and close easy and the gaps on all the doors .
  13. Timing belt should be changed @ 100 k k's or 5 years wich ever comes first so a car thats over 5 yeasr old should have a belt replaced . As for the electronic oddos it only stops amateures not the pros .
  14. Go for a 33 GTR V-Spec mid to late 30's and you will never go back to a Gtst.
  15. Its similar to a spark plug socket with a slot on one side going almost all the way down so the cable fits in there, 22 mm . Go to any place where they sell tools even normal auto shops would probably have it and you should be able to get a cheap Chinese one. The rear one is very easy on the gtr ( when you have the tool ), you dont have to remove anything to get to it. The front i think you will have to remove some ducting to get to it .
  16. No duncan and Nissan are rip off merchants about $150 each i think . Copper you should be able to get them off with a spanner, anyway its cheaper to buy the tube socket and then you have it for next time .
  17. No not yet but working on it !
  18. What they ask and what they get are 2 different things .
  19. Its a TURBO duncan !!!
  20. Thats the reason she got the job!
  21. Easy with a special socket Duncan but a bit hard if you dont have one .
  22. I may bring the landcruiser but its only a 2 wheel dyno, i dont know if i could be bothered removing the front drive shaft ......
  23. You say you wasnt driving it, was it knocking the last time you drove it ? If yes the big ands gave up due to oil starvation , spun kept driving and the rest .......... If it wasnt knocking then the dodgy patch up job has more weight , like pete said . Either way if the engine was recently built well i wouldnt gat tem to build mine .. I feel sorry for you Charlie , something like that happen to me about 3 years ago. Mine a turbo spat the wheel out and stuffed the engine while someone else had the car and took it around the block, he even lost it and hit the kerb !!!
  24. More than likely its the swich probably broken inside .
