Mistakes were made, my R34 Story

God I love shiny engine parts 🥰 Are you looking for more horsetorques in the mid range? (Smaller cam) Or just more horsetorques every where? (Big heads and bigger revs) Assumption: they were not bought late night shopping on the interwebs after drinking too many beers, which is typically how I pull pins on things......🤣 The evolution of your car is coming along nicely, I sometimes wish I didn't get bored with my cars and keep flipping them, maybe the MX5 will be different -
Tyres you use(d) and how u would rate them
The Bogan replied to ZigenGT's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Done about 5k Km on the PS5's now, excellent street tyres, great in the dry, and the wet, seem to be wearing very well, I haven't measured tread depth, but it looks like minimal wear, I also had a different alignment done about 1500km ago, From looking at the tread wear, which is really only minimal, the alignment changes were based off how the tread looked, and how it felt throwing it around, the changes have shown great results 215/45 17 at 32 psi Front Caster: 5.5° Camber: -1.5° Toe: 0.0mm Rear Camber: -1.0° Total Toe-in: 1.5mm I actually prefer PS5's now over the RS4's, as the PS5's are much better in the wet IMO, and as the MX5 gets driven in all weather conditions doing daily duties, hwy trips, and blasts in the mountains, wet weather grip is high on my priority list -

"Vidal Sassoon's illegitimate love child"? "Crew cut"? But "Clippers"? or "Just the clippers"? are currently sitting on top of the list, as this is what my hair style has been for the last 50 odd years -
The FD RX7 is the best looking 90's JDM car
The Bogan replied to PranK's topic in General Automotive Discussion
A red or yellow S15 wins my vote, Ack that it just scraps in with the 90's cars theme, but they are great looking little sports car Next would be a A80 Supra (pre face lift), whilst the A80 has its own issues, I feel is the best looking larger GT car As for the FD, "I" feel that the reason it triggers me in a non-positve way when looking at one, is like looking at a high maintenance pretty girl who you know is mentally unstable and likely to explode for no apparent reason -

Nope I'm not a fan of aftermarket body kits or big wings really, to the point I replaced the 400 front bar on my 33 with a OEM one An I quite like the OEM body lines on the NC I saying this, I did bolt on a 33 GTR wing on my 33 GTST, but I think that suited the car well -
Damn it, no, I topped up before I got to yours I really should look at Costco locations more when I'm out and about burning through fuel
-
Costco uses Mobile as a supplier, I always get Costco 98 when I'm near one, they are typically about 30 cents or more cheaper than the local Mobile

This one?? In other news: I cannot tell the difference between my red MX5 with the silver grey hard top......... and the Ferrari 599XX EVO, they might as well be twins, well.......apart from the big wang hanging off the back of the Ferrari...🤔🤣, without the wing they are identical -

Not a fan of "racing stripes" really, I've seen a few done, with different styles of stripes, but no, not for me Although younger Mark probably would have thought differently about them -

I would again like too thank Matt for his help in me sourcing the detachable hard top for the little red car, without Matt's assistance in inspecting it and locking it down, I can guarantee it would have sold before I could get up to see it, and as that was the only available NC hardtop in Australia, I consider myself extremely lucky on multiple levels To say I'm more that happy would be an understatement And, it is 100% water tight, I drove through torrential rain coming back south, and by torrential, they type of rain that doing 40kph in a 110kph zone was a real thing, and even then, the standing water on the Hwy was deep enough to throw waves I'm also more than happy that the huge "BEASTS" that Matt calls dogs didn't eat me for lunch, I'm sure the sniffs and licks were more to "taste test" me, over being to friendly Now to work out what colour to get it painted, panel match, or gloss black........first world problems are real -
It's all about selling non-compliant emmisions stuff, and things like tuning stuff that makes your car have more emmisions, a very small percentage of modifications and tuning go into race cars, the vast majority of tuning and mods, like catless exhausts, or non-compliant cats, go into street cars with registration Like a gun shop can only sell to someone with a gun licence, if they don't, they are fined and even jailed, and whilst a gun is totally different to a tune, or a catless exhaust, they are still illegal for a street car As for customers, it easy, they send a letter and tell them to show up for an inspection, like if someone says your car is to loud now, if they don't show up for the test, they can cancel rego, just like not paying a traffic fine This has been happening for years overseas in other countries I'm in no way happy about it, but, I think there is definitely writing on the wall for modern cars with emissions standards, which will effect tuning shops, parts suppliers and end users And like other countries around the world, it is the government's that makes the rules and regulations for street cars with rego What would happen to a tuner or workshop if they were investigated about turning off stuff in a ECU IRT emmisions stuff like engine check lights for cats, or removing cats, or putting in a lower cell cat, this is apparently all illegal IAW modifications to registered cars, or, retuning the car so that with even stock emmision stuff still installed, but due to the tuning, or parts, like bigger cam shafts, it will now not pass the emmisions test Yes, I am going into a rabbit hole, but going off what other countries are doing IRT everything related to emmisions........cars, trucks, manufacturing, mining, modified vehicles are a easy target Meh, time will tell how it goes either way
-
There's no current law that stipulates that you cannot eat dessert with a soup spoon, although, it is socially unacceptable of course, shame on you But, there are emissions laws, which is sort of on topic to the OP's questions Things like emissions are, if anything, going to get stricter in the future for road registered cars I believe, 'Merica has yearly emisions testing in some states, the UK has it's yearly MOT testing as well which includes emissions Building, and purchasing modified vehicles may become alot more problematic if you want to keep them registered, how, if, and when each state handles this is anyone's guess More food for thought really
-
This is more of a concern in my opinion Shops have already been fined for selling stuff, not only that, the shops were required to submit their books, so that the people purchasing these parts, or the work they had done, could be found and possibly prosecuted Apparently "For Motorsport use only" isn't a free pass This has been happening in the US for a while now, I wonder how long it takes before AU is hit with similar investigations and fines start to flow out Basically all aftermarket ECU's or tunes, and lots of parts, could be put into this category of "non-compliance"
-
Maybe the same way that everyone in NSW with modifications gets a slip By rights, the inspector is "meant" to check for "non-compliant" modifications Occasionally, but rarely, a inspector will get busted for passing off cars that don't comply, but this is hard to enforce as the inspector can just say, "it was standard when I inspected it" They occasionally create "task groups" and "stings" for this, but mainly they just roll out and establish roadside inspection stations, or, the police are tasked to just drive around and give out canaries to the usual suspects This is typically why only people who drive around with a large "heat signature" get pinned, because they make themselves a easy target for inspection stations and the Hwy Patrol
-
Meh Don't have Facebook anymore but watched a YouTube about it, they also talked about them not being able to use and "sports" modes, not really sure how they would enforce that apart from logging the Db for the cars that have exhaust valve activation in sports mode Apart from all the high end sports cars and supercars that make the sort of power they are talking about standard, I cannot see it bothering anyone else, unless of course road side tests now include having a dyno and scales on site to test the power output vs weight What is it? 500hp per ton? And if the only additional cost is $60 or so, as the video stated, I cannot see that being a war stopper for the people that outlay a few hundred thousand dollars on a performance car In fact, I see it would be a ego boost for some, because they have a "special" drivers licence for a "special"person with a "special" car And if I did have a modified car that made over the limit, there's no way in hell I would apply for a "special" licence, I could see the authorities checking your licence against your rego, so if old mate applied for a licence, but owns a, say, R33 Skyline, that may trigger an inspection of said car as to why, and how, that old mate has a R33 that would fit the bill of making over 500hp per ton Again, meh, not something I believe will be a real issue to 99.9% of people

The main catch phrase for any car is "the eye of the beholder", and "personal tastes and preferences" And as for the plastic "flares", I honestly think they look cheap and tacky, and I cannot see them aging well, maybe if they were body colour they might look better to my eyes, but, I would still prefer it the were more like the older WRX STI models that had the wider body metal panels In saying all this 5hit, I wouldn't buy a new WRX again, even if it had the wide body metal panels -
