http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bathurst_1000#Early_years It depends alot on the demographic. There has been alot of cars with race win history that have only seen moderate acclaim form their victorys. In Australia its the V8. England has had some big success with old Cortinas and Escorts, what we think are average old cars the Brits are importing them, alot of our old ones are going or have gone to England where the smart people making some good coin out of it. My missus was exporting them by the container load for a couple of years.

Hopefully the air temp will be in the low to mod 20's and the track temp will be in the low 30's, that seemed to work well for the boat last outing.

A concours car can be a rebuilt car, the rebuilt car will lose some points but will make it up on build quality, it just needs all original parts like engine/body/tranny match, they will strip the car down to nothing and have it rebuilt to the standard spec that the car was realeased from factory only better quality, I'm talking everything, not your usual show car spec. In saying that VERY CLEAN low Km cars are sourced. Sorry for being a bit off topic, get yourself to some concours car/bike shows, they almost make me cry with the detail of everything.

Bobs cars are excellent examples, but not concours, concours cars are not driven. Concours cars live in museums or garages which get trailered to shows. Disclaimer: I do not in any way take anything away from Bobs cars, they are as smick as 10 smick things, I am amazed at the condition of the cars and all the hard work he has put into having a couple of the best R32 GTR's in Australia, and most likely in the top percent of the world I would assume.

The Time Has Come! Gtr33 Or Gtr34
The Bogan replied to tripsteady's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Use it as a daily and enjoy, otherwise you will have a car in the garage which hardly gets used and the price depreciation of it sitting there has ruined small nations. And obviously it will use more fuel than a yaris, its a performance car. Though my boat is only the pov spec GTST, the GTR eating 500 hp daily is fun. Not driving a performance car is like having a women and not shagging her at every available occasion. -
I believe the 32 GTR has achieved "classic status", it has achieved cult status as well, and classics don't need to be neat, though a clean unmolested one will be worth more than a thrashed out runner. I doubt the 33, 34 or 35 will be anything like the 32 as being a classic. The 32 is the godzilla, the others, although nice cars, are not godzilla, here lies the problem, follow the old classic auctions and for sale rags, usually the older original design cars are the most sort after. And as for collectible, not many concourse cars around, there is some nice examples around, but I donot think I have ever seen a concourse car, I'm sure there is some hidden away in garages around the world but I haven't seen any.

Call To Ban Young Drivers In Performance Cars

A VN commodoore and a high powered turbo are worlds apart, how do you think a P plater will go hitting the load pedal in a VN compared to a 500hp turbo car for example. Not many VN's will break traction on a thrird gear roll. This way they have some time in lower powered cars before jumping on something they cannot control. Bit like the bike laws, when I got my bike licence in 1981 I did my test on a GSX1100, there were lots of kids riding big bore bikes, and lots of kids dying, lowered the L leagal down to 250 and the deaths slowed down "a bit" Experience is something that is gained over time, not attitude, I'm 47 yrs old, have done numerous driver training courses, assist driver training courses at work on both black top and cross country and I am still learning every time I get behind the wheel. But there will always be idiots on the street killing themselves and people around them because they think they are awesome/hecktik/macho/to cool for rules. Its not so bad if they only kill themselves, but usually they kill others and walk away. -
Yes mate, the only old bit now is the case, Award replaced all the shafts and gears and stuff, it was also modified internally to keep the oil from bring forced to the rear of the box which caused my problems of the gears not getting enough oil. I'm in the process of giving it some love by cleaning the plugs and air filter, I'll swap out springs later as I need a large 90 deg straight edge to set cambers and I think I've lost mine somewhere.

Good points Terry, having to pay a fine or deal with problems that affect you is one thing, but being held responsible for the health and well-being of others greatly outweighs your own problems. Cover all your bases or pay the consequences.
-
From my experience in work place health and safqety law if you are in control of anything beit a bulldozer or or a shovel you are 100% accountable for it. It all falls to the operator to ensure that you cover all rules and regulations. And when it comes to rules and regulations there is more one place to find info, but if a dozen places say you can and one says you cannot then you cannot. And even if you can only find things that support a issue, if there is any question in your mind you need to directly contact the relevant authority and plead your case prior to any activity. And who is responsible, everyone that has anything to do with a action All in all you need to cover your arse 100% or you will have a large pineapple shoved up it.

http://www.carpoint.com.au/all-cars/demo/details.aspx?R=AGC-AD-12063972&Cr=1 Nice little P plate friendly daily runner -
Driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle is an offence attracting infringement notice fines of at least $1060 ($530 for unregistered and $530 for uninsured). If the matter goes to court, the maximum fine is $2200 for unregistered and $5500 for uninsured. The penalties for heavy vehicle offences are higher and may also attract demerit points. See unregistered vehicle penalties for more information. http://www.rta.nsw.g...cles/index.html Im under the impression that if you borrow a car you need to ensure the car is safe and legal, i.e the driver is responcable in ensuring the car has rego/insurance and is safe to drive. As the owner of a vehicle you are responcable for its use and you can be fined. http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registration/unregisteredvehicles/unregistered_vehicle_penalties.html

Where is this info from, Im under the impression that no cars have been crushed at all in Australia and you need to be doing something pretty stupid for the police to impound a car. The police are there to enforce the law, dont brake the law or be a tool and you will not have problems, easy. I have never had a problem with the police unless it was my fault, even my stupidly modified car has never had a problem, maybe because I did it right and had it engineered and legal for use on NSW roads. -
Call To Ban Young Drivers In Performance Cars

This argument has been going on for more than 40 yrs that I can recall, I got my licence in 1980 and the police were after all the high performance cars and the kids driving them, (me in my Cooper or LJ). And now with the greenies getting on board about "performance type" cars with their planet killing exhaust fumes things will only get worse. I do believe that keeping young people out of V8's and turbo performance type cars is a good thing, young people with no skills will buy whatever they think is cool, being able to control that power doesnt cross their minds. I think you should have your full licence and driver training for any performance type car or a modified vehicle. Though in the real world this wouldnt work due to the lack of skill and/or motivation by the general population in having to do the training. My 2 cents of old man ranting -

To be honest most young guys think they have more skill than what they really do. But to be honest again a standard newish 6 cyl commonwhore/falcadoore has more power than your average import/high performance jap type car. People will always crash because people are mostly stupid, mostly. -
If I went and looked at a car for sale and they didnt have the rego papers I would walk.
-
I liked my rego sticker, it had the engineering mod number thingie on it. All in all who cares, police scan my plates, pull me over for a chat then let me roll, which I believe is a good thing, the scanning will keep a heap of dodgy unregoed cars of the road. Plus hopefully it will help with car theft.

Anyone going next Wensday night. I am weather permitting.

Jax tyres can get them but the price is higher, around $250 a peice for 255/40 17 so I would imagine the 18's would be a fair bit more.
