  4. How's this thing coming along ??
  5. You can buy a cheap multi meter for around $20, they are a good investment for your tool box as you will use it heaps for lots of little jobs.
  6. Dirty connections somewhere maybe, but to me it sounds like a Alternator fault ??? Reason being is that when the car is running the battery just gets charged as the alternator takes over to supply power, if the battery was going out you wouldnt see it whilst the car was running, I once had a dead as battery, it would only start with a jump, but when it was running it was fine. You may have killed the battery by running it dead. Saying that Im not 100% on modern car electrics, with my old pre ECU cars you didnt even need a battery, park on a hill and clutch it, no problems, I do know that the new cars need a battery with some volts to let the ECU send signals to injectors and stuff. Stick in a fresh battery from a mates car and see if it starts, if it does put a meter on it and see if it recieving volts, I think it should be around 13.5 volts (not 100% sure) or so when the car is running, if its not switch it off or you will drain your mates battery flat.
  7. I like the bigger rear wing, it sits up nice and high in the air and if the aero guys at Toyota have done their job right it should work well. Also where is the performance line drawn at aero, Ive seen bigger wings on alot of lower powered cars at the track doing fast times. I see these with some good tyres and a bit of a tweek here and there being fun and quick little trackday cars
  8. And the story line to these pics is ???????

  13. Water % Percentage of water found in sample given as a percentage of total volume. Moisture is common in short trip vehicles that don’t fully get the oil up to operating temperature long enough. It generally takes 10-15 minutes for the oil to get to this temperature, which is enough to start evaporating the moisture in the sample. The same goes for fuel in your sample too. An occasional long highway drive is good for your oil’s health. http://www.bobistheo...e-oil-analysis/ Also, if you run your cars oil at over 70 deg for 30 to 40 min it should burn off any moisture that has accumulated in the oil
  14. Water comes from the atmosphere and the combustion of fuel, one of the byproducts of fuel burning is water, sounds silly but its true, a forged motor will breath heavier until it has come up to temp and allow more contaminants to get past the rings. Same with higher boost, there are some good research papers on this in the interwebs. And E85 will produce even more moisture. Ill look for some linkys on this later IICBA
  15. Oil that just sits in catch can will accumulate all the moisture in the system due to it only staying warm enough the attract moisture and will turn to crud, but if it drains back to the sump from the catch the moisture will be cooked off in the hot oil, my can has been returning to the sump for a couple of years now with no ill effect The vents on top of the catch can allows any moisture in the system to get out. Simples physics like me, simple...
  16. I got it because it was thin, it has better flow than the thicker stuff, and I found how it bends easy was a good thing as you can easily form it and shape it around corners.

One question from the Gen Supp Regs; 3.5 Fuel is not available at the venue and cars should be sufficiently fuelled prior to arrival at the venue. Due to safety considerations, refueling in the Competitors’ Paddock area is prohibited Can fuel be stored somewhere near by or is no extra fuel allowed on site ? Thanks, Mark

  24. Please excuse my lame paint skills. Im going to fab up a front splitter out of plywood, the mounting points I want to use are the ones where the reo bolts to the chassis. Im thinking that they would surfice for what I want, from looking around at all sorts of sizes Im thinking about having the splitter sitting about 150mm from the front bar. My only concern is that the front 200mm of the splitter will have no support, BUT, if the brackets are made from say 10 gauge steel ( THICKEST I CAN GET BENT ) and backing plates are used behind the fixtures that join the splitter to the bracket it should be fine. This is a elcheapo style bolt on for track days jobbie. Thoughts, Im thick skinned so cut loose. Thanks, Mark
