  1. Yeah, it's cool man, I've seen and heard about the stuff they go through on a nearly daily basis, first responders see the worst of people, and people at their worst time, like MVA, murders, assaults, suicides and the like I've seen some pretty horrific stuff, and been in the odd sticky predicament, but nothing like the saturation they deal with, like ambos and fire fighters, it is a real common occurrence and a head f#ck I am sometimes to quick to judge and go partial retard when people go on about the police, sometimes a joke triggers me Meh, love you long time
  2. LOL, where's spell check when you need it As for pricks, yeah nah, I've only been hassled by the police when I've done something stupid, getting pinned for an illegally modified car for example is a fair cop in my opinion I've got alot of cop mates, and my daughter is now one, they do a hard thankless job, and in reality, if you don't do stupid stuff, or blatantly break the law they leave you alone There job is to enforce the law, whether or not I agree with the laws means nothing They are the ones who stand between you and the crazy taking the fire RIP to the 2 young QLD cops that were set up and assassinated by mentally deficient lunatics RIP to the neighbour who went to see if the mentally deficient lunatics needed help, only to be killed for his neighbourly good deed Police are like soldiers, nobody loves them until the enemy is at the gate
  3. The standard holden mounts were fine, until I put thermal spacers under the blower and the bonnet wouldn't close The clearance issue was temporarily fixed with the reverse cowl bonnet, but, it took 2 weeks before I hated the look of it Meh, first world modification problems And yes, "driving into the loins den" is exactly how it felt...🤣
  4. Got the transmission serviced today at Craigs and talked about the vibration, found what is causing my vibration at speed, the Tuff mounts The ones I have have the red poly in them, so pretty firm, under load at speeds over 100 mph harmonics from the engine are transferring the engine harmonics through the K frame sending the vibration to to the steering rack and body They recommend that I go back to rubber if I want to get rid of it, they also said that it isn't a issue, apart from the NVH, as I need lower engine mounts that the OEM rubber ones for bonnet clearance that unfortunately isn't a option It is apparently a common issue with hard poly and solid engine mounts in some cars, he had red Tuff mounts in his 1200hp Skyline and had the same issue, same same for some of the drag cars he works on Tuff mounts do a black poly that is softer and would be a little better but as it only happens at the drags, from 100mph - 124 mph, I probably won't swap them out I other news we want down to Goulburn to watch my daughters Assentation, parked up in the police academy and proceeded to have "all" of the police checking out the car, luckly the all agreed it was a nice build, a little loud, but nothing that would cause them concern I did feel like a rabbit in a spot light for a while though
  5. So would this still be non compliant?? Trying to match the aero at the front with that big bessie at the rear may be tricky???
  6. Just need some plywood, tek screws and a turn buckle or 3 for the win
  7. I would still do an inspection and run the numbers at the RTA/RMS/ whatever your states motor transport department is Putting in an engine that has a receipt from someone that isn't the registered owner, can be problematic, especially if they haven't done the disposal with their local transport department
  8. I've always run beanies on turbo cars, never had an issue +1 for reduced enginge bay temps and no melted "stuff" Coking was a thing on old only oil cooled turbos, water cooled turbos "percolate" negating this #Physics
  9. If a car is found to be a "body job", the original owner, or the insurance company that originally paid out the claim, can be granted ownership Quite a few people have been caught out this way, they spent a ton of coin rebuilding a car, only to have it taken off them when they tried to register it REVS checks, and inspections of body and engine numbers for originality are a must with everything and anything you purchase
  10. Rebirthing typically is buying a repairable write off, then stealing a good car or bike and swapping over the engine and numbers of the repairable write off You haven't been able to get repairable writeoff motorcycles for ages, bikies owned that side hustle for years I know a used car joint from years ago that made alot of money doing this until it came crashing down around them I also know of a few "groups" of people that rented factories, they would buy cheap or damaged cars and bikes privately, and then would place orders for clean typical cars or bikes to be stolen, do body jobs, keep them for a while, then sell them on for good profit Quite a few wreckers still do this The police have task groups dedicated to it now and then, typically targeted, body jobs and organised crime go hand in hand
  11. Plus needing receipts for all parts replaced Rebirthing is a big problem
  12. Apples and Oranges I know that a solid (no hinge points) strut bar tied onto the firewall of a MX5 is a massive improvement over a basic whiteline one with hinge points
  13. Yeap, that's the one I use it around the house on small spills and stuff as well If you haven't "wet vacced" the seats or carpet for 20 years you will definitely need to give it a few goes Be prepared to change water that looks like diarrhoea
  14. Purchased one of those brake bleeders that connects to my air compressor....... "where have you been all my life" After putting it up on stands and removing the wheels a full brake flush took no more than 5 minutes, nice Then....whilst it was up there..... Ended up going OCD and gave at undercarriage a full power wash, sprayed everything with silicone spray, and then wiped it all down, now all the bits that you cannot see look so shiny and purdy....LOL The interior then copped a full detail with the bissell spot cleaner and steamer, the interior looked pretty good before I started, but the manky water that the bissell sucked out proved other wise, but it has been 12 months since the bissell last seen any action inside the car The engine bay is next, well tomorrow, for a detail, followed by exterior washing and waxing all ready for a cruise down to Goulburn on Thursday for my daughters attestation at the police academy on Friday My daughter has asked me to wear my service dress, and Jackie has grabbed a fancy outfit for the occasion, the car will be on point like it is on a military style "boots and saddle parade".....so..... Weather warning: you just know it is going to be pissing down in the Southern Tablelands on Thursday and Friday, and they will probably want me to park in some unsealed carpark....LOL
  15. Some clutch alignment tools are better than others Start to tighten down the plate until it just holds, then wobble the alignment tool to center the plate, clutch and flywheel, then tighten it up to spec If you just put the alignment tool in and tighten it up they sometimes don't align correctly because the plate is hanging a little low creating an angle
  16. So, after alot of googling the vibration "may" be coming from the transmission "Apparently" vibrations in a 4l60e can happen at higher speeds if the line pressure isn't right, which is what's happing So, as the trans was due for a service in Jan 23 anyway, it has been booked in for the service at Craigs Automatics, while it's there they said they will look at the tune and see if they can "page up" the line pressure a bit in the old slush box Next run at WSID is hopefully 21 Dec 22
  17. Yes, post logs To me logs are like women, I don't really understand much about them, but I do like looking at them
  18. Tailshaft bushes and centre bearing was fine, torqued up all suspension and steering nuts and bolts under the car Need to go to the drags again and see how it goes at higher than Hwy speeds now (over 80mph) I will get all my wheels rebalanced first Hopefully around mid December
  19. No scarier than driving a BMW still under warranty Buy one of these if you want a BMW Classics https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/1979-bmw-6-series-635csi-e24-manual/SSE-AD-5690775?pageSource=details&id=SSE-AD-5690775 https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/1989-bmw-3-series-320i-e30-manual/SSE-AD-12906574?pageSource=details&id=SSE-AD-12906574
  20. Whether it is a highly modified car, or a standard BMW, you will always need a 2nd car or motorbike to get around in/on Don't BMW give OPAL card credits when you buy a new one anyway?
  21. Like how I say every time I get a new car or bike that "I'm keeping this stock", or my other classic of "while we're in there" It's a disease, and modifications are the cure
  22. Just dropped the car off to Autotech Engineering to diagnose the vibration I'm getting Hopefully just the tailshaft couplings or centre bearing They are going to stick it up on a hoist and have a good look and see if the couplings or bearings are showing wear, if they looks alright they will stick it on the dyno and try to replicate it and go from there It never happens on the street doing 110kph on the hwy, or when I'm giving it some beans, but, once the car hits around 140kph at the strip it starts to vibrate and increases all the way up to when I back off at the line doing 200kph
  23. Needs build thread https://www.sau.com.au/forums/forum/190-projects-overhauls-and-build-ups/
  24. Maybe I should of got one of these before they commanded drug money https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/1989-nissan-skyline-gts-hr31-manual/SSE-AD-7439094?pageSource=details&id=SSE-AD-7439094
