  1. Nope, Skylines need to run stuff from J to keep the "ricer" look, like vented bonnets and neons, and 3 ft long exhaust tips Yes, I know and apologise for using the word ricer, but you cannot be a true bogan in a Skyline, as you cannot be a ricer in a Commodore Sort of like how rednecks drive American cars And fat old white guys with arthritis ride Harleys I'm still out on the classification of the R30-31 Skylines though, they are a sort of fusion blend of bogan and rice.....Bogice????.....Rigan????? I apologise to no one But love youse all
  2. I get the Ultimate Car package I cannot complain about the service I've gotten
  3. I've got the NRMA on speed dial mate Post pics in your build thread of the fun and/or carnage
  4. I feel it is probably tail shaft, it is a body type shake over 80mph, and doesn't get better until under 80 mph I'm "thinking" tail shaft anyway, I've booked it in to get Autotech to get it up on a hoist and have a good look Some new rubber tailshaft coupling bushings and a new centre bearing on the 20 year old girl can't hurt anyway, so that may be a quick, relatively cheap, shot gun approach to start with anyway, justified in my mind as preventative maintenance Preventative maintenance stuff helps me sleep well at night
  5. Currently sitting under my desk at work running on 240v, it holds my milk and lunch My milk tended to "evaporate" pretty quick in the kitchenette fridge that everyone has access to, so I needed to take measures
  6. I'm keen, and if work and family align I'll be there with bells on It is a waypoint on one of my regular cruises, I always RTN home with an assortment of sweeties jammed in my Engel car fridge thingie that I purchased for just such occasions
  7. I have found the embosed aluminium sheet works great The trick with thermal protection is to use a air gap between the heat source, the sheilding and body Without a air gap alot of heat will still transfer across Fabricating this stuff is childs play, just start with templates, measure once.....pay twice.....or something like that Carbuilders brand in pretty good, but, the stuff supercheap sell is basically the same so shop around https://www.carbuilders.com.au/underbody/heat-shields/
  8. That's just the game we play mate I'm now looking at a little vibration at high RPM, maybe the 30 year old flogged out tail shaft? Smile and wave, smile and wave
  9. 275/40 17 MT's mate I'll have another play in a month or two and see if I can crack a 10.??? I actually forgot to soften up the rear suspension, and also forgot to press the performance button to let it rev out a little more Next time I'm going to set up my phone to record everything that is happening on the dash, like launch rpm, shift points, and what mph and gear I'm in at 12? Mph, I'm not sure if I was right at the top of 3rd or it changed into 4th at the line Also, remembering to hit the trac and performance buttons, loading up the trans a little, slowly "mashing the pedal" is all apparently to hard for me to do, LOL, but, at least I can only get better If was balls deep fun though
  10. Maybe, maybe not, it always depends on the day Best time of the night? As many runs as you need? A bag of delicious hot cinnamon donuts for the victor? I'll run first then park up till needed, or, WSID closes, whichever comes first.....😜
  11. Run 3, 20 psi Lots of oil downs More wheel spin I'm happy and am heading home
  12. Run one, tyres at 30 psi Did a skid but a little better 60'
  13. But it is expected with old or modified stuff And it's not like it spends it's time in a garage coming out on sunny Sundays, the car is regularly used and abused, rain, hail or shine...well, rain and shine, I always keep an eye on the BOM for work, the car and bike is typically hidden away during major storms I expect things to happen, nothing lasts forever, and shit breaks when you lean on them, but, I'm happy enough because the old girl gives alot of joy, the car is fun as well..............😜 As for the new starter, I've still got some heat sheild left over from the job I did on the headers, I might look at making a cover like this thing >
  14. T'was the starter motor solenoid Getting a whole new starter motor because #whilewereinthere
  15. NRMA is getting the car towed to my auto elec guy tomorrow At least I'm getting my moneys worth from my NRMA membership πŸ™„
  16. Fark, I keep blowing the main 60 amp fusible link No reds at all, I just parked the car after returning from a drive, then tried to move it to wash off some dirt and nothing, no power at the ignition, no reds, no horn, no central locking, no immobiliser, found the main 60 amp fusible link blown, so replaced it with the 60 amp ABS one to see what was going on, which brought the reds up, until I tried to start it, which then blew that fuse as well πŸ˜’ There's a short somewhere, I'll need to jack up the car and look for the short, I'm hoping it's an easy "starter motor wiring meets exhaust headers" type of thing Stupid cars πŸš— πŸ˜’ πŸ™„ πŸ˜‘ 😀 😐 🀣
  17. Fair weather rubber and rims are a go go
  18. My current suspension will do for the 2 or 3 trips to the drags I do a year, the car is just a street cruiser with visions of grandeur My old R33 only ever ran Bilsteins and kings and hooked OK on the Mickeys As for the gearbox, there's a few options, but really, unless/until the 4l60e goes bang in a big way there's no hurry Currently the trans is rated/guaranteed to 600hp at the motor, which it is roughly at now, Craigs have stated that it will still be fine though as they add in a fudge factor, they said it should be good for about 700hp, or 450kwatw but, that would void warranty and be on limited time
  19. I has rubbers, build date was 0822, fresh stock, which is nice Ordered the rims, they're getting machined for offset, I pick them up and get the tyres fitted tomorrow Typically it has started to rain again so Wednesday night drags probably isn't on the cards
  20. I'm going 17" because I want to have matching rims, and 17" was the smallest size the FR1's come in, so comprises were made for the Bogan-ness of the FR1 life, it isn't optimal, but meh, it's going to be good enough for what I want My old GTS-t Skyline made similar top end power to the Commodore, and got a 11.09 on ancient worn out 255/50 16 Mickey Thompson streets, and they hooked pretty good on the street in the dry as well, which is handy with a RWD car Plus the Mrs will never pick the change, which is always a bonus As for looking more or less bogan, impossible, the car is a old red commodore with gold FR1 Simmons, and I'm a old balding white guy with tattoos, so I'm pretty sure I got bogan covered, much to my Mrs anguish
  21. I was talking with the guy from Craigs Automatics, who built my 4l60e, about going taller diff gears i.e. 3.07 or even 2.87, there recommendation was not to go any taller than the 3.46 gears that are currently in it because of the current converter specs, engine power and the 3.46 gears He believes the current custom billet converter in the 4l60e is near on being maxed out reliability wise for the current rear gears and power the car is now making, which makes sense as the converter was originally speced when NA for around 500nm (currently around 900nm "ish") with 3.9 gears, he said that going any taller gears would probably overheat the converter and trans more than the current trans cooler can deal with and it would end up in tears, on the side of the road, he recommended that I just get some drag radials and be done with it 🀣 So basically taller gears will require a new converter, but, as I'm a "while we're in there kind of guy" that could end up down the proverbial rabbit hole of the T400 with overdrive that keeps popping up in my feed, and is also blindingly expensive I'm also trying to find some new R888R in 275/40 17 to wrap up and stash away for the future, the current set on the rear are at about 50%, so probably about another 5k km away from needing to be replaced, it seems like I'll get about 10k km from a set of rears, but, currently I'm struggling to find any on hand anywhere, I have got Tempe Tyres to give me a stock alert for when they get some more in While we are talking tyres, I'm heading into St George tyres tomorrow to try and grab some Mickey Thompson ET Street 275/40 17 to put on another set of 17 x 9.5 Simmons FR1's for special occasions.......yes, I know.......LOL It's like a disease πŸ€ͺand car parts are the cure
  22. Like most of the young insta's, influencer and youtubers, men and women alike, all seem to be somewhere on the lower to middle side of the spectrum They don't effect my life and occasionally make me laugh at their stupidity when I'm bored at work Meh
