  1. Throw in some side drains on the low side every 50 meters or so Control scouring with rubble drains, and put in the odd culvert I build alot of unsealed roads with work, drainage will keep it open longer, but there is only so much drainage can do erosion-sediment-control-unsealed-roads-field-guide-120410.pdf
  2. The only people who would target them are the same muppets that tail gate and beep learners, and typically anyone else who isn't them, arrogance is abound on our roads In saying that, I want a "B" plate, not for bad, but for "Bogan", naahhhh, driving a big red noisy commodore should get that across
  3. Definitely spend a little more on your suspension, even for a daily driver, or actually more so for a daily driver with less than perfectly flat roads you'll want something that handles well, but is also compliant when hitting pot holes and rough roads (basically every street and Hwy in NSW at the moment) Also don't go too stiff with your bushings, and if possible avoid pillow ball joints for less NVH and longevity of your suspension For a street car/cruiser, you'll thank yourself in the end
  4. Damn it Got a "letter" in the mail 80 kph in 70 kph zone late last month It was on an off ramp heading off the M5 near Casula 1 point and $128, not a big hit cash or points wise, but I've lost my gold licence, Mark has a sad
  5. Doing the usual 500 km run in the thing again tomorrow Sydney - Goulburn- Canberra- Goulburn- Sydney Cruising and lunching with fam Noice
  6. Because I like 500hp v8 rumble I'm at 2300rpm at 110kph with the 4l60e and 3.46 Meh, in the end the car is a cruiser with some poke, it isn't a race car, it doesn't get locked in a garage all week/month, if I can have it fast, and somewhat economical on the hwy I call that a win
  7. And after almost hitting a roo on my last adventure down the coast I want one of these smart bar plastic roo bar thingies Currently got the feelers out and on the hunt
  8. Thinking of going even taller in the rear end 3.07, or even possibly 2.87 The 3.46 gears are much better than the 3.91 that were originally in it, and for all of the hwy cruising I do, and with the amount of torque the car has just off idle, and the stalled slush box to get the engine spinning I think the longer gears will give me more manners down low, and good fuel economy on the hwy
  9. I think I'll just eventually settle for traction control and be happy with what a street legal tyre can give me
  10. LOL, my 60ft is rubbish at 2.4, MPH is good enough at 122, and the ET is at 12.4, maybe I need to do a bigger burnout, maybe the only thing that will actually fix my 60ft is some drag radials on the rear, which I'm not at all interested in buying for a car that will only see the strip once or twice a year for the LOLS, or traction control I ran some old MT ET streets on the rear of my old R33 GTS-t years ago, which were fine for straight line blasts and cruising around the streets in the dry, but less than nice on any road with a corner, and in the wet they were actually pretty dangerous I think my main issue, or one of my issues, is the supercharger makes all of its power basically off idle, if I could take off in second it might help, or if I had longer gears ( I have already gone from 3.9 to 3.46, now I'm thinking I should have gone a bit longer, 3.07???? , 2.87 maybe??? IDK....), but the slushbox will always launch in 1st, and a manualised? (spelling) transmission seems like a PITA for a hwy/street cruiser with visions of grandeur My "other" main issue, LOL, yes I have main issues aplenty, is I want a tyre, like my car, than sort of can do everything "Ok" that I want as is, I want to be able to cruise the hwy and streets rain hail or shine, give it a regular boot full, and hit the strip occasionally, and not worry about having to change tyres/rims/suspension to do it I'm not competitive, I'm just a old hoon who wants to play I've also got a RaceTCS that has been sitting in the bottom draw for the last few months that I haven't had fitted yet, it was originally purchased to help the RS4's cope, the Toyo's don't really need it now, well, for the street just rolling on anyway, I still want to install it to help at the drags, and for the occasional hit, but, as I only hit the drags once or twice a year it isn't really a priority The big noticeable difference of the R888R's is rolling on from around 60kph, the RS4's hated life and lost traction pretty easily and without careful peddling would spin up that fast it would touch the limiter before shifting into 2nd or 3rd, which for a 4l60e is a death sentence for the pump, the R888R hook up much better and shifts hard but with minimal wheel spin now changing into 3rd, and doesn't tough the limiter at all now going into 2nd I'm sure I'm probably "doing it wrong", but the Toyo's are definitely helping me achieve what I'm after for a small outlay, even with the loose nut that is behind the steering wheel
  11. I'm happy to forgo tyre longevity for a "performance" street car if the tyre can actually hook up, to a point, they must be safe at hwy speeds and casual/legal street driving in the wet and dry This is why I tried out the Toyo R888R on my old Commodore after being recommended them as a better replacement to the RS4's I was running If your looking for a grippy tyre, that is nice and compliant for daily duties the R888R have been an excellent upgrade over the RS4's, maybe the apparently "softer sidewalls" are advantageous to a point on the street, plus coming in a 275/40 17" size was handy as the biggest 17" tyre for the RS4 is 255/40 17 I've already put a few thousand street km on them, wet, dry, cold and warm days, and one day at the drags where they absolutely smoked the RS4's for traction They seem to be wearing very well for what they are, I guestimate they still have about 75% treadwear left, and even after all the street driving up and down the coast they grip just like they were first scrubbed in, in the end if they last around 10k km I'll be happy, thats over a year of driving for me, they aren't any noisier than the RS4's which is nice on the long hwy drives Are they the best option, possibly not, but at $300 for a street legal grippy 275/40 17...... that ain't bad I would definitely recommend these to anyone with a street car with some power, from my experience I can hit the tyres pretty hard from the dig, and in the corners they hold the fat old girl really well even under some throttle, the really only next step up traction wise would be some ET street drag radials, but then they aren't legal and are rubbish in the wet If there's better out there for similar cost tell me please, I need all the traction I can get
  12. Take a picture of it with you and ask your local exhaust shop to fab one up, pretty simple job
  13. Operating temp for trans fluid is about 80-90° C I believe, this is the temp for hot check I always take my slushbox for a at least a 15 minute drive to do the hot check You typically can see the change in oil height on the dipstick between "cold", "running but not at operating temp", and "operating temp (hot)" Actually reading the dipstick correctly can sometimes be an issue due to splash http://www.agcoauto.com/content/news/p2_articleid/89 Disclaimer: I may be talking apples and oranges, my slushbox is a 4l60e in a commodore, but I assume they would be similar
  14. For a cheap tyre I quite like the R888R's that are on my Commodore, 100 tw though, from looking at them they should get at least last 10k km, maybe more In the dry they grip alot better than the RS4's that were on it, for roughly the same cost, in saying that the RS4's were 255, and the R888R are 275 And both are/were pretty similar in the wet I've done a few thousand km on them now and am pretty impressed with them for a $300 275/40 17 tyre They are not a drag radial, but they are as close to a drag radial that I am happy to drive on the street I rate them highly for a street car with some balls I have no clue how they perform or last when on the track Opinions may vary
  15. I found RS4's a good compromise for a 200tw cheap tyre I found the RS4 well out perfored the RE003, I think the RE003 are a 240tw ??? maybe They last well too Sizing can be an issue with the RS4 though
  16. Keep the single + Sell twins to people who want "retro" stuff = Profit
  17. Sounds boss Looks like you had a ball chopping away
  18. Got a cartoon made up of me and the Bogan Cruise Ship Rat Fink style Getting one of my daughters Yaris with cop stickers and sirens for her attestation in December
  19. First they are putting in a resonator, if that fails then a Helmholtz chamber will be next
  20. The car drones at hwy speeds, in top doing 110 kph at just over 2k rpm I did bring this up when I picked up the car and Chev said if it does drone to bring it back in and they can fab up a resonator to fit in there I popped in and had a chat this morning, they are going to fabricate something up which should be done and dusted by the end of the week
  21. Did a big cruise around the Sydney beaches with the Mrs today, she did the usual and slept for the drive home, so it isn't too loud or droney in the cabin We did get alot of looks and thumbs up, and only 1 grumpy looking weirdo walking a dog near Centennial Park that looked at the car disapprovingly, then gave us the "little finger/little dick" hand signal, to which the Mrs laughed, pointed at him, yelled Oi, gave him the bird and called a name that questioned his sexuality, I laughed, alot, we are "The Bogans" So basically the car sounds perfect and the Mrs seems happy Winner winner chicken dinner Nope, booked in for seafood platter at our local favourite seafood joint 🐟🦐🦞🦀🐙🐡🦭🐳🐧🦄🍹🥃🍹🥃🍹🥃🍹🍸
