  1. I wouldn't call the RS4 or a AD08 a "track tyre" with a 200 tread wear ratings. I would concider them an excellent choice for a R32 running 225, I would hazard to guess the car is not a daily, and driving around whilst it is raining would not be a big enough reason to justify sacrificing grip on the off chance you get caught out in the rain. Performance tyre, yeap, most certainly, but there is no way in hell I would put any "all season" tyre on anything other than the Mrs car, or a taxi. Hell, I hate having RE003's on my 86, the drop in grip from the old RS4's to them was quite, um......alot, but the RE003 are better in the wet, and with the Mrs and kids driving the car I wanted a bit more fudge factor. In saying this I was quite happy driving the car in the rain/storms/winter on the RS4, they were great on the 33, MX5 and 86. They were OK on the track for a lap or 4 in the 1540kg 33, but anymore and they tended to get slidey, they did last longer on the MX5 though, but that only weighed about 1000kg, and only had about 5hp. But, yeah, meh, opinions and stuff, plus my driving style could be better, and the setup on the 33 could have been better. I really need another set of rims to put some RS4's on. I can see it now. Mrs: can I take your car Me: sure, you just need to swap the rims honey Mrs: what???? Me: I'm swapping them now honey Kids: hahahalolololhaha, sucker...... Me: sigh
  2. Sticky and good in the wet, tricky combo. You could try Bridgestone Potenza RE003 225/50 16, they are a compromise, OK in the dry, OK in the wet, but pretty cheap. If you can sacrifice wet grip Hankook RS4 225/50 16 are great in the dry, but average in the wet, cheap tyre as well. I did replace my RS4's with RE003, but I'm RWD and the Mrs and kids also drive the car, if it was just me I would still be running RS4's. Just drive to the conditions and the RS4's would be my pick.
  3. I don't know, seems legit. We could call it 3D Computer Aided Design.......or, 3D CAD for short, could be most useful I will invest all my belly button lint I have been saving up to ensure we get it copyrighted before someone else steals this new and innovative idea.
  4. Yeah, no airbag steering wheel says no as well. It's like the "street class" drag cars with full cages and other fun things, all well and good until the constabulary or RMS get involved, then it's just another unregisterable race car. There was a joint in QLD that did vented FRP bonnets that meet standards, stock frame for support, and pretty thick, you could get a carbon layer over top of everything for the looks. http://www.blitsbodykits.com.au/nissan.html I got one for my old R33, the engineer back in the day was happy with it, bloody heavy though, twice as heavy than the OEM if I recall correctly, the vent did work well though and kept coolant temps in check. This one, long ago sold, and converted to auto ?, it is frequently seen roll racing > Alot of things have changed since I got my old R33 engineered, it's a over the pits affair now, real engineering and upgrades are required , as well as emmisions testing. Meh.
  5. I just had a rude shock IRT how much it costs and what hoops need to be jumped through to get an engineering certificate in NSW now days. Whilst that 45k car has all the good bits you could never legally register it in NSW without dropping alot of serious coin.
  6. Proof of this statement. Or are you psychic. Or just angry. Car looks clean, proof will be in inspection. GLWS
  7. Americans started importing. Fan base exploded. The market now is huge, the numbers of cars is not. American population = 330 mil give or take Australian population = 25 million Price is dictated by demand. Look how much clean GTT and GTST's are going for. I was googling and found some joint in Japan sitting on alot of Skylines, it seemed they had hundreds of 34's just waiting. Maybe like those guys 15 or 20 years ago who grabbed alot of Ford GT's when they were cheap, and done some shifty selling amongst themselves to pump up the prices, hence the million dollar XY XW GT's. Maybe, who knows, I'm bored sitting in a waiting room to see a dentist....
  8. Just drive it, and.......if you have garage space, best best would be to buy a turbo car and work on it until you can drive it. If you don't have garage space just keep saving your coins. If the model of car you want comes in a turbo version, buy the turbo version. Unless you like pissing away money, and you don't care about resale, registration, insurance, etc. etc.
  9. One solved, but... The rods on these things are make from plasticine apparently. Pistons and rods are the obvious next big spend. Then a gearbox solution, it's basically a S15 gearbox and they like to chew. Not for a while though, I hope, knock on wood, fingers crossed etc. etc. etc. I believe Yul is pointing at Toyota 86 engine and gearbox parts on the ground.
  10. Boost gauge, fully shizzle dizzle, plus $20 3d printed guage holder thing from local guy. Nothing flash, cheapest gauge I could find really, higher reading than what I really wanted, I tried to find a cheap 15 psi (boost is 8psi) but none were found in the 2 minutes I looked for one, meh. Awaiting some "add a circuit's" from fleabay so I can get the light and dimmer working. It doesn't look as bad in person, the camera makes it look all f**ked up, but it's not really that bad.
  11. I own the fastest street turbocharged 2017 limited edition Toyota 86 with Enkei RPF-1, RS3's, Arc exhaust, K&N air filter, tinted windows, cheapo SAAS boost gauge and a mad scratch on the lower right side of the front bar. The competition is pretty tight in this class though, drug money budgets. I'm talking Ford vs Ferrari budgets, well, the budget that Ford used for fire suppression anyway.....
  12. I agree the part is rare, and rare costs, if I was rebuilding a mint stock GTS-R that needed one I would jump on it, but putting that on a RB20 in a 32, no way. It would actually make me sad wasting that on a GTS-T and not on a GTS-R.
  13. I thought it was way cool, till I looked at the price. Well, if you had a HR31 GTS-R that didn't have one, and it was mint, then yeah, I guess, maybe.... $5k, wow
  14. LOL, fastest "street" R33 with a sunroof? Sorry..
  15. Yeap, this is why I paid a kidney to insure my "engineered" shit box R33 Skyline with comprehensive, and ended up swapping to third party fire and theft. I am currently working on getting my 86 engineered, doing so will be fine for my rego and green slip, BUT, the cost of comprehensive insurance for it will be as high as Amy Winehouse on a bender. That's if I can find a insurer that will cover it. Meh, third party fire & theft may be an cheaper option or third party property cover if all else fails. The only way to be safe insurance wise it to get an engineering certificate for all modifications stating the car meets all required guidelines and declare every modification on your insurance agreement. It's possible to be covered and not get rogered, but you need to follow the bouncing ball then stick your hand deep into your pocket. Or, risk it for the biscuit...... Mmmmmmm, biscuits
  16. In my insurance agreement it states that my insurance can be void if I don't inform the insurer of any changes. Not my insurance company, but..... 3. Modifying your car (without telling your insurer) https://www.finder.com.au/car-insurance-exclusions My suggestion is to read your agreement, in the end expect the insurance company to come at you pistols blazing.
  17. Pretty sure no one, well no one that matters, cares about cam covers. When I have been pulled over it was always only the rego plate check, and obvious defectable modifications, the only time the engine/body number and tags were wanted was when I had my 25/30 engineered and added to the rego, 1 Hwy patrol officer who was very thorough (he seemed overly angry at the world) and once at a pop up RTA (RMS) inspection station on the Foreshore in Botany. This all counts for nothing if your involved in a big crash and/or insurance companies get involved. If a insurance company can prove you car is not roadworthy they pay nothing, having a different engine than what is on the rego papers instantly makes the car unroadworthy. It would negate the green slip 3rd party as well. Food for thought for a worse case senario situation.
  18. Still 27 days out, she'll be fine by then.
  19. For some JDM Kei Kar Kool Not fast, but super cool. There will be alot of "cool" cars that you could get for the money you eventually flip the Skyline for.
  20. What size? What manufacture date?
  21. https://plazmaman.com/product/r33-gtst-air-box/ Or, for the same money, make a template out of cardboard, then transcribe onto 20 gauge alloy, buy a nutsert gun and some nut serts https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/toolpro-toolpro-rivet-nut-tool/523129.html then prep and paint with https://www.vhtpaint.com/high-heat/vht-wrinkle-plus-coatings You'll also need a drill, some tin snips, a smooth file, and some pinch weld https://www.clarkrubber.com.au/products/31733-pvc-black-pinchweld-small-8mm-x-5-5mm Oh, and a brake Takes at a few templates to get right usually. Typically it doesn't take longer than a 6 pack. Gratification level = 10 million
  22. Can you spot me, I'll buy you a beer. Only lets not do 2J as I could never register it, a camed up LS on the other hand is achievable, costly though, but with you paying I'm not to fussed on the estimated $60+k it would cost. Cheers I'll keep an eye out for a brown paper bag full of cash dropped on my door step.
  23. But it sounds like a jet.. OP, put on cover, it will still sound whoosshhhy, but be more legsl and less hot air
