  1. When you give me $60k to give to someone to do it for me. That should get me a new powertrain and drivetrain, installed and tuned (properly). Could I just go LS instead???? https://www.whichcar.com.au/features/6-litre-ls-swapped-toyota-86-street-car With you paying and all, I thought it would be polite to ask....
  2. Cold start actually sounds quiter. But way more bass, shit in the garage rattles. Once cold start is over its nice and deep with zero drone. Sounds really good when I'm wringing its neck. Happy days.
  3. As it's a common fact that I'm an idiot, and a consumer, so, in fact, I'm a idiot consumer, I purchased an Arc catback I saw on the gumtrees. New cost $1800ish (import monster), I paid some older gent $720 for it, it's hardly used so if it is too obnoxious it won't be hard to flip. Job for tomorrow arvo I believe.
  4. Post pics and keep us up with the build I've always had a soft spot for the VL, maybe because of its weight, or lack of when they have had some "added lightness" treatment.
  5. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/1998-nissan-skyline-gt-r-bcnr33-manual-4wd/SSE-AD-5470717/%3FCr%3D5&ved=2ahUKEwjVhbLDv5zlAhXEbn0KHVbMDCoQFjAGegQIBhAB&usg=AOvVaw1iZnzHfJzGfs5j8dYsTUvz Someone is always trying to sell it, obe owner actually thought he bought a GTR, I'm pretty sure he was much pissed off when he learnt it wasn't. It is a weapon, but it isn't a GTR.
  6. Drop in wrecker RB25DE ($1700? ISH, http://www.brisbanemotorimports.com.au/engines/petrol-engines/nissan/r34-rb25de-neo ) , then sell GT to buy GTT. It's not just the engine swap and parts required, it's rego, insurance, resale down the track, a stockish GT will be easy to sell to a P plater, a GT modified with a turbo removes the P plater option for sale, and, personally, I wouldn't buy it for fear of reliability issues and legalities. They make a turbo model, buying a GTT would be the sensible choice. Disclaimer: I turbo charged a Toyota 86, in saying that, there was no turbo option for rhe 86, the $10k that was used will never be recouped, and most insurance companies don't want to talk to me, and the ones that do want both my kidneys. Meh. It has been done though, alot of times, again, meh.
  7. 4 of them, plus some extra wheel nuts. Condition = used but threads are good Cost = 1 x 10 pack of Double Jacks Pick up at 2173 Holsworthy only
  8. Fitted the bushings. Didn't really notice any difference in feel as yet. Maybe when I'm doing some skids the added stiffness in the bushings will show an improvement. There was an additional small amount of NVH from the Whiteline bushing insert, but not enough to worry me. Meh, at least they were cheap.
  9. I'm planning a Snowy Mountains run around Xmas/new year. And by plan I mean basically follow this > https://www.ytravelblog.com/things-see-snowy-mountain-drive/ It's pretty that time of the years.
  10. Automotive therapy parts arrived. Gearbox mount and support bushings. Why? The OEM bushings have the consistency of marshmallows, this makes the shifter feel so much tighter, tight like a tiger even....plus cheap, and parts were sent to work so they are also my dirty little secret. NVH may increase slightly, but I did simular with the STI and it wasn't a issue.
  11. Me and the Minister of War and Finances went for a early morning cruise, all was going well till I gave it some juice when I hit a overtaking lane, a car going from 50 to 70 in a 90 zone. As the 86 overtook the plodder, she said, "what have you done to the car and why does it make whooshy noises". The gig was up, so I told her that yeap, I had some work done on the exhaust side and a tune. Pretty sure she was confused with my response, but, not wanting to sound like she didn't know what I was talking about she closed her eyes and went back to snoozing. Winner winner chicken dinner.

  15. Yeap, I'm a idiot..... I swear to jebus I'm one of rhe stupidest old hoons on rhe planet. I blame all the pot I smoked as a teenager.
  16. LOL, yeah nah I had a "screamer" pipe on my 33, for about 3 days, till it got plumbed back in, it sounded like arse.
  17. Contemplating a catback or axle back. Car sounds stock, except for turbo spooling and tyres slipping. Conundrums: 1. Pre fab - Invidia? N2? R400?Cold start noise? 2. Shop made - pretty much design what I want with the sound I want. 1. Pro: Would be cheap and I get to install, Con: get what I get given sound/drone wise 2. Con: Would be a bit more expensive vs the massed produced item, Pro: able to test what it sounds during the build, Con: I don't really get to install. 2. Found this axle back pic on the nets, will need to speak to my local exhaust shop, Pro: stock rear pipe and resonator, stock exhaust tips, Con: Cost???, not really any other cons that are blinding obvious. Disclaimer: this is not a performance modification, pipe work can still be the same as now, just need to do something about the mufflers, I'm after just a little more sound. I keep leaning towards shop built....like the pic Hmmmmm
