MLR's 86 not a build thread thread
The Bogan replied to The Bogan's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
WOW, what a difference Dyno is saved file from pre-tune in March to 8 psi boost now, WOW Car is as responsive as farrrrk, pulls hard, WOW Most importantly is that cold start is not as loud, the turbo has done its main job at muffling the exhaust..........? Shiny clamps is the only giveaway Down there somewhere Pretty black So far the rods are still in one piece -

Replaced my RS4's with RE003 Toyota 86, 1250kg 145 kwatw. Went from 215/45 17 to 235/45 17 on a 8" rim Both are running at 34psi front and rear RS4: Much better in the dry than RE003 (yes, the 215 RS4 grips better than the 235 RE003, rim size may have something to do, I went from minimum size to maximum size tyre for a 8" rim running 45 series, spooky.....) Lasted about 15k km of street driving Really average in the wet Really average initially in cold temperatures They were pretty noisy After scrubbing them in they stayed very predictable. RE003: Better than the RS4's in the wet Not as good in the dry Much much quiter The additional sidewall, 9mm, gives a noticeably smoother ride. Next set of tyres: RS4 235/45 17, I can deal with the noise, I can drive slow in the wet, but I don't like giving up the dry grip, plus there cheap, bang for buck is excellent. -

I'm spewing I'm going to miss the SAUNSW cruise up Macquarie Pass to Roberstson pie shop. Although, I do head up there at least once a month for a drive topped with pies, apple turnovers with cream to be then washed down with icecream at Wollongong lighthouse after doing the Jamberoo run. Mmmmmmm, pies cakes and icecream.... -

Are you still going to tow that trailer up Macquarie Pass, wasn't that one of the rules? When is it ready?, I'm hoping tomorrow, my boat (real boat/ship, not a R33) leaves on the 13th of this month, this means I will most likely be on a plane on Monday, that gives me the weekend to race a Tiguan towing a trailer up the pass, break the gearbox, and throw a rod, oh, and pack. It looks like I'm going to have a busy weekend -

I'm more looking forward to the first time the Mrs hears it, she is going to be well pissed off......her reaction should be pretty funny. I will just explain that it needed the turbo to quiten down cold start. That reaction should be pretty sweet as well. God bless her, and may god have mercy on my soul. -

LOL, I did inform the boys at Pulse that the more annoying turbo noises the car makes the better. I'm not sure that 8 psi is actually enough boost to make annoying noises though. We shall see on Friday I suppose. f**k I hate waiting. In other news: if work sends me away before this weekend I'm gonna have a melt down. Work has a nasty habit of sending me away for months at a time, just when I am getting something done. It's like they are waiting for me to drop off my car. Me: "I just dropped my car at the shop" Work: "Cool, pack your bags, you leave tomorrow" -

Ahhh, compromises. Welcome to my world. No garage space, need to park outside, garage is full of the Mrs and kids crap, 3 cars in the family, soon to be 4, kids want food, Mrs wants "stuff", meh. All really want for "my" car is one I can drive to work for so I don't get wet, drive up the mountains for pies, drive to Qld for work, cheapish rego, cheapish insurance, relatively good on fuel, BUT, is reliable, handles well, has good mod support and parts are easy to replace, must be RWD manual though, and new. Apart from that it's the Mrs ASX (shitbox) for when we all go out. I'm not happy to risk my car at a track day anymore, and as for big power, where are all the big powered cars, in garages the majority of the time, or workshops because you took it out, and it broke again, or was that just my old Skyline? Until I win lotto that is, but unless its some chrome bumper car, the only other car I will own is a new model car. Whilst Skylines and Supras and RX7 are cool, they are dinosaurs that need to be wrapped in cotton wool. Unless you have more money than me, or a drug dealer. Hmmmm, compromises and hard decisions suck

Pop and bang exhaust illegal in Vic?
The Bogan replied to sean12343's topic in General Automotive Discussion
It's a trait of running carbies, or super rich tune, or a fuel munching rotor, or a tarmac eating jet truck Or it's a sign of a poor tune or "becauseracecar" with a modern fuel injection system. Kids will be kids I cannot believe the police don't come down harder on it, to me it's a classic case for a defect. Disclaimer: I do love 2 step and antilag....................at the track Meh -

Epic, both were crowd favorites -
I wouldn't call the RS4 a semi, good dry street tyre yes, semi no. In saying that I've used them on the track with my old 33 and MX5, IIRC they preformed good on the 1000kg MX5, and OK on the 1550kg 33. Opinions may vary

Street alignment all dialed in Front: -1.5°, 0 toe Rear: -1.0°, 0 toe Will be going for a squirt up the pass for a pie on Saturday, I'll then take the long way home via Jamberoo, also with a detour past the lighthouse in the Gong, and by lighthouse I mean the icecream van in the carpark near the lighthouse. In all honesty though, the set up is more about tyre life and daily driving with illusions of performance, more so than actual performance. 19 days to go till tututututu, which, is the main reason why I'm getting a turbo anyway....... -
