Mlr's Nb Mx5

Put in some void spacers (like pineapples) into the diff bushes, there was a knock when hitting rough roads, they were cheap and I was bored. Turns out the knock was from the hard top banging about, tightened up hardtop and fitted some rubber bushing in the latches and fixed the knocking on rough roads. LOLOLOLOLOLLOOLLOLOLOLL,LOLL -

Not much happening car wise, tax time soon so updates will abound, meanwhile whilst being bored and having some alloy sheet left over from the CAI box I made up a lower section for the radiator to stop the air taking the easiest route and passing under the radiator. -
Mr FIGJAM My 2 cents Starting Strength, 5 x 5, 5-3-1 or 8-6-3 www.blackironbeast.com has some good programs. Main lifts are Mil press, deads, bench and squats, you can do a basic workout which takes 20 minutes, lots of options with all the hard calcs done for you. Im doing a 5-3-1 body building template which takes between 45 minutes and 1 hr dependant on rest time and lifts done. The TRIUMVIRATE (smart mans program) should see you out of the gym in under 45 minutes As for looks and strength you can have both with just lifting heavy on the basics with minimal assistance exercises, (i.e no bro curls or wrist curls or other stupid exercises that support the vain)

When I need to get under 80kg for our work comp I switch from Pepsi to Pepsi Max in my rum a week out. Works a treat. Talking about dropping weight, I'm 2.5 weeks out from 4rm test at work for deads and squat. I'm going for 4 x 170 deads and 140 for squats (slow progress). Will be fun.

My new guard roller is pretty cool, much easier than a rubber mallet and a better finish.

Strut Bracing Fixed Or Useless ?
The Bogan replied to The Bogan's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
My assumption (and assumptions are like arse holes, everyone has one) is if it has a hinge at the tower it will pivot under load and thus not lock in the suspension geometry (the only thing trying to lock it in a the friction from the ?M8? bolt trying to restrain a lever of around 1.5 meters, not likely). It may keep the towers at the same distance from each other on the X axis but the Y axis will move around. Every stock brace I've seen is solid, every good quality (big dollar shiny race car type) brace I've seen is solid. Are the hinged braces like the old exposed pod filters, i.e. looks good but does not perform (apart from the seat of the pants dyno results). -

I had a D1 on the old boat, only problem was it made the steering wheel sit to far forward, and even with a short boss on the 5 a D1 would be to far forward and put me in a somewhat cramped position for driving, which would be bad. Works bell make a short release which may be a option. -

:rant:Don't buy the eBay short quick release, initially it was good but after only a few days it got enough play in it for me to take it off and bin it The short boss is awesome though -
Strut Bracing Fixed Or Useless ?
The Bogan replied to The Bogan's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
That's along the lines of what he was saying. I've seen some hard core looking strut braces on some of the boys cars, I may look into a big arse solid bar to replace my standard solid one. Awesome reply BTW. -
I was talking to a engineer today about cars and shiny things and his professional opinion was that if a strut brace was not a solid item it is useless. He was looking in the engine bays of my MX5 which has a one piece strut brace and a 180 with a (insert brand name here) strut brace with a hinge thingie at the tower which connects the mounting brackets to the brace. Thoughts....

I would replace and realign that garden hose with some nice black breather hose to the can as well. As well as a good CAI and filter system to gain some easy ponies and keep the constabulary happyish.

Do you warm up and mobility your wrist joints, I'm getting a little bit long in the tooth now and if I don't warm up everything I get pain everywhere, LOL And as we are coming into colder weather warm ups and mobility are even more important to keep injuries at bay.

How's the old girl going, I will need to grab a copy of zoom to catch up on all the new mods, have you got to 10 yet and have you had it to any tracks yet? I do miss the thing, rolling in the 5 with about 75 atwkw doesn't have the same effect as the old line pulling through the gears.

It was a eBay jobbie, a guy at work got one, only 40mm thick, and it is engineered well and only cost $30 delivered. -

Purchased a short boss and a quick release for the steering wheel so I don't have to dislocate my knees when I get in and out with the fixed seat. -
Does DC stand for "Don't drink the Cool aid". And if I change my name to James will I put on 10 kg of muscle in 6 weeks?

Good vid and a very clean lift, I was waiting for the old push press but was happily suprised. As for forgetting the training log, I hate that, I now print off 1 months worth and it lives in my smelly gym bag, it only comes out to update the EXCEL sheet.

EPIC posts, and just to stir the pot a bit more, I claim that under grasp heaves/chins/pull ups are the best exercise for the bicep. Ive attached my latest if anyone CBF looking, its a slightly modified 8 6 3 from blackironbeast web site, start week 2 on Monday. I just print it off and tick next to it if I get it and record reps for my + set. _EXCEL_PROGRAM_4_DAY_4_WEEK (1).xls

Yay for me, legs day today took it easy to see how my back held out, managed to get the full 8 reps and sets of the 863 finishing on 10 at 115 so I'm very happy. Even was able to do front squats and finish off everything and not a sign of pain after. I just have to wait till next Tuesday to see how dead lifting feels. Very happy indeed.

I've swapped from the 5 3 1 BBB to a 8 6 4 template for bodybuilding taken from the "blackironbeast" website, its meant to be 8 6 3 but we knocked it up a rep on the last set to suit the challenge board at work . My doc, physio and PTI want to limit the 1RM lifts to none, LOL. The spongy cartilage stuff that sits between the bones in my lower back are "de-hydrated" I went to a specialist and had a MRI (free medical is handy at times), thus I get some bone on bone action, well not quite bone on bone as there are bundles of nerves which wiggle around them some how, its more of a bone on nerves on bone squashing type of thing. I've been assured that as long as I keep good form and don't load up to much I will be fine. I've been doing lots of stretching, walking, rolling and stuff whilst I've been out for the last week and a half with only some BW exercises to keep me happy, new program starts on Monday. The reason for the injury is I did 5 3 1 deads 1 day before I tried to do a dead 4RM, I was not recovered from the deads and tried to lift to much weight to soon, idiot..... I will also do a lot more core stuff than I have been doing, I did let it slip for a while and I feel this is what also helped to let me down.

Add a lightened flywheel to the list of stuff I want. -
Work shower train eat sleep and repeat. Its not like you will be doing this every day anyway. If you want motivation, think how weak you will be in 6 months.
