It just sucks that everything you do through dealerships costs so much... 1k for this 2k for that... only to find out it's not even fixed. It's just not practical -

Hmmm, interesting; thanks for sharing. I really liked the idea of a manual but I'm starting to get the feeling the manual in these isn't worth while. Oh well, makes a purchase cheaper going with auto Now to keep an eye out for a nice Series 2 -

What are the autos like in the 350GT? I'm assuming MV autos do a valve body mod for these? You reckon it's worth spending the bit extra for a manual? -
Ahhh, the good ol' days

[Sa] 1998 Jzx100 Toyota Chaser
GFXman replied to GFXman's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
Price drop - $14k -
Not sure if anyone here will be interested in a Toyota but might as well give it a go. A new car is on the way so it's time to hand over the keys of my pride and joy to someone else... I've been the only owner since importing it through Iron Chef in 2009. All the modifications have been purchase since then and professionally installed by Adelaide Radial Tyre and/or Brett West at Graham West Workshop and has been tuned as a nice reliable 200rwkw daily driver. The car hasn't seen the track or drag strip and has always been garaged and well looked after My only regret is never getting around to putting nicer rims on it. Location: Adelaide Transmission: Auto Colour: Pearl White KMs: 140,000 Power: 196rwkw Modifications Power FC Blitz CS FMIC Greddy Profec-B II boost controller AM Performance dump AM Performance 3" turbo back exhaust MV Automatics quick shift mod PWR trans cooler TRD strut brace TRD suspension bushes Cusco swaybars TEIN Super Street coilovers Kumho KU31 Tyres Sound System Nothing special; could definitely use some lovin. Pioneer MP3/BT deck and some Alpine Type-S splits. Factory sub and amp. Just read through this whole thread... what a story! Glad it's all worked out in the end for you Tommmo. Such an amazing offer from Paul :-) You should definitely try and recoup your costs from the original builder... people have to supply a product 'fit for purpose' and are legally bound to do so. An engine breaking after 3000km is hardly fit for purpose. If you have evidence that he didn't build it properly and he chose not to guarantee his workmanship then I hope he pays the price. Nothing worse than crap service.

Would you consider shipping to Adelaide? If so, can you find out a cost? -
yeah I don't plan to drive it to the track - only to the mechanic when needed. Will have a tow car and trailer organised for it. I'd definately rather have a dedicated track car rather than using my daily driver. It's going on 20 years old now and cant really afford for it to break as I need it every day. If the track car breaks, so be it - fix it up before the next event and it's all good. Thanks for the feedback so far guys, much appreciated!

Nah I don't but that's a decent idea. I don't imagine getting it transported back will be a problem - main thing is just getting it looked at to give me peace of mind Cheers

No that's something else I need to find out - I know it's something you can do but not the details involved.

I'm looking at buying a track car from interstate. Looks the goods but I'm not sure of the procedure I should be taking. Does anyone have any suggestions or experience to share? here are some details. 1. It's never been registered - was imported as a track car only. 2. I can't seem to find anyone willing to go to check it out. It's located in Bathurst which seems to be too far away for all the mobile vehicle inspection people. 3. How would you recommend doing the transaction? Gonna speak to transport sa tomorrow - see if they have any suggestions. Any help would be great. Cheers!

Agreed. And while the ps3 technically has better specs on paper, its a bitch to program games for. I would have thought sony would learn from sega's mistakes of the dreamcast... To be honest i haven't seen one game that demonstrates the PS3's superior hardware; the 360 manages perfectly well and there's certainly nothing to warrant spending twice the price. All the show stopping games that they showed before the ps3 was released were all pre-rendered and not run on the actual ps3 (killlzone2 for example). It was that hype that seemed to give it it's "superior graphics" label which has since been proven to be BS.

I was always a playstation supporter and played through all the GT series up to GT4. Was certainly a brilliant game. However, I recently decided to get into the "next gen" consoles and decided on an xbox360 and haven't looked back. For me it was the clear winner; here's why: xbox wins on price. Available for ~$220 now. xbox wins on game selection. Waaaaaay more games available on xbox. Can use it as a media extender to watch movies and TV eps on my telly over the network (PS3 does this too). Can be modded - for $70 you can flash the DVD drive firmware allowing you to run "backup" games. This mod has NO effect on your ability to use xbox LIVE unlike traditional hardware mods. I knew alot of people with xboxes so I could join them on xbox live. I have no desire to buy all my DVD movies all over again on Blu Ray just so it can look x% better on my plasma. I agree it looks better than DVD but it's not worth spending $600 on a PS3 and $35 a pop for every movie - it's just not THAT much better in my opinion. The only selling points for the PS3 that interest me is GT5 and Blu Ray... neither of which were enough to convince me to buy one. Like I said, I was always a supporter of the GT series and never having actually tried Forza, I always considered it to be a try hard clone. Boy was I wrong! Forza 2 is simply amazing - the car selection, including Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Pagani, McLaren, Mercedes, BMW, and all the usuals. The handling is brilliant, and the OMG sound effects are stunning; the cars actually sound the like the real thing - something I felt GT always lacked. Not only that, Forza has visible damage - something GT never implemented. I find the handling more controllable that GT and to be honest, I think GT5 has become over realistic (if that's possible) in that it doesn't really feel like driving a real car any more. Hard to explain - it just doesn't feel right any more like it used to. And lets not forget, GT5 isn't actually released..... STILL! Last I heard 2010 was the release date!? It's just a glorified demo in it's current state. Forza is here, now and with Forza 3 only around the corner, it can only get better! Sorry for the long rant - just thought I'd add my 2c.
