  1. The MY2010+ GTR uses a different type of shaft location - its retained by clips versus the original. Both will make noise, but the earlier bellhousing will allow the shaft to flog out the entire housing where the later design wont. Neither are the very best design, but the later piece is far far better. Hope that helps
  2. Be aware that even in a current generation MY12 bellhousing there is a degree of float. Is it making a shocking noise?
  3. If the part isnt ADR complied for road use then its lucky there is any insurance payout at all. The PDS will state quite clearly that the vehicle has to be in a fully road legal state to be covered. In nearly all instances coil-overs are not road legal.
  4. Many 10 second GTRs do so on the totally stock transmission. With the advent of LC4 they are as likely to fail driving to the shops as they are running 10 second passes. Our WR600 - 0-400m 10.3 sec, won the Temora 1000 - stock transmission Kevs WR600 0-400m 10.6 sec, won the Snowy 1000 - stock transmission 35Rs WR450 0-400m 10.7 sec, won the NSW Supersprint Champs 2 years straight - stock transmission - stock as in nothing changed other than the fluid - You can be unlucky with these cars in terms of random component failure, but a properly sorted GTR that runs mid/high 10s shouldnt damage the transmission through overpowering the internals with a handful of drag runs every year
  5. Around $5K all up is what most GTR retailers will sell this kind of package for depending on existing mods already in place (ie. exhaust etc). and what brand parts they use. Not bad for a daily driven 10 second car Many different kits from many different parts upgrade manufacturers to do this on these great cars. GTRs are a great base, which is why we all like them so much here.
  6. Dont be frightened of launching these cars. With the right software (LC2+) it doesnt bother them. Mileage and the type of fluid used is the biggest indicator of transmission condition in the GTR rather than how its driven.
  7. Depends on the condition of the transmission mate Should be fine!
  8. Just to put this topic into perspective.....WR450 package, which is exhaust, pumps, injectors, E85 tune on a 2009 using the old LC2.... Running 10s on an E85 tune with stock turbos isnt exactly new, that was 2010.
  9. Most all GTR transmissions may exhibit clutch chirp at some time in their lives. Its well documented, fairly common, and not harmful in any way. This can normally be dialled out by altering clutch capacity and touch points if need be. Its simply a friction property of the clutches. If you dont like it, then back off the CC settings till it goes away. Many threads on it with stock fluid, aftermarket fluid etc. in the US.
  10. Its easy to make big power out of these stock engines. The trick is to keep the stock rods inside the engine over the vehicles life...... Getting a one-off drag number isnt so hard if you put your mind to it. It certainly impresses a lot that dont understand the risks, and the massive potential cost, involved
  11. A nice picture from the Temora 1000 people.....
  12. I think I'lll just let the picture do the talking.....
  13. max, it wont be too rich, it will be running a measured 11.8:1 AFR A lot of the soot you see will be residual in the exhaust Hot weather should not be a problem - but we wil log and look (The picture as of a log screen showing no knock)
  14. Ok maxzugkraft I have had a chance to have a look at a few of your looks. Looks like the tune is working really really nicely, the only time there was any indicated knock (false knock) was when you shifted on the rev limiter. The yellow line in the picture below is 'knock' and as you can see it stays on zero the whole length of the run...which is very nice
  15. Its a whole different piece of TCM software. Its like upgrading say from Windows 95 to Windows 7. All the clutch engagement ramps for normal driving, shift points, apply pressure maps - everything is different - so there is lots of difference in the gearchanges.
  16. Fixed it for you -
  17. Thanks Brian! We are currently have on order and are building over half a dozen WR600 packages for clients around Australia, so certainly the allround credentials of this combination are starting to get noticed
  18. CC = Clutch Capacity for Odd and Even gears. Adjustments range from -7 to +7 and linearly increase clutch apply pressure when shifting. Normally from the factory these are set to 0 (right in the middle) On a moderately powered up car setting these to +2 +2 is a good step In a high powered car then +4 +4 is the go. I dont go much over that as its hard on the seals and gears to run massive pressures. Its a feel thing. TP = Touch Point for Odd and Even gears Touch Point is best explained as the prepositioning or pre-load on the clutches. Adding more Odd TP will give more creep in 1st gear at idle speed I normally leave these as close to 0 as to get the desired driving result Hope that helps
  19. Second, third, and fourth. Give it some load! and make sure its on a private road!
  20. Good work ecl! Driving these cars around on an LC2 program...is well....just a waste of a car!
  21. Make sure you - DATALOG rpm boost left/right afr new bank 1/2 coolant temp IAT knocksums and then email it to me Also watch the boost gauge for flashing (set at -768 knocksum which is about 1 degree so minimal) Let me know how you go!
  22. Nothing wrong with Falcons, bloody handy after a big night out!
  23. No point in speculating about it, you need to generate a log of some third and fourth gear pulls and then let me have a look through it. Either that or get the right map for your car running Aussie 98 fuel - such as the tune we supplied for Duncan Forrests GTR that won the NSW Supersprint championship two years in a row. No knocking, plenty of power. OTS Cobb maps are ok, but they tend to not be a bit sketchy when pushing the limits of our 98 fuel - as they simply dont calibrate on it in the US. Regardless of what you do, that flashing engine ligh it something to take note of, and try to avoid if the idea of rebuilding an engine scares you even just a little bit
  24. Its certainly not good for the engine! Take a log and send it to me
  25. I believe its actually resident in the AP anyway as the stock style LC2 map. I rarely save them unless submitting it to Cobb as a previously unseen piece. Hope that helps
