  1. That may well be the case, however we are defining certain parts of what is happening in the R35 scene at the moment so unfortunately if the innovation is to be mentioned then so is the fashion in which it is achieved or the post is a waste of bandwidth. I certainly had no hesitation in talking about Aeromotions wing, Volks rims, Cobbs Accesstuner software and in fact any other part we use to get where we are going. Make no mistake we are an engineering and distribution company, not one that makes money out of trying to bend any set of rules on SAU. Our free help is pointing people in the right direction with their R35s and showing them whats involved in making a laptime without any smoke and mirrors, we also supply several of the traders on here. Our role on SAU is transparent Its the moderations teams call. If they dont want to hear it, I certainly wont post it. There are better ways I can spend my time, but after seven years of being a functioning member of this forum and adding plenty of posts pointing people in the right direction over that time I find it a little confusing
  2. Yes but if you do it Slip then its ok.....sneaky I am sure that nothing will keep you away from your car with your camera this week, and neither it should. Exciting times ahead for you
  3. Ahh now you are speaking Remember Slip, you can only talk about it if we didnt make it, or the Amway salesman, the guy that Attracts chicks with seminars, and the Ferrari fan will gang up and have me banned P.S. I think WR35FS is sexier, but yes I am biased, and yes you are having it
  4. Chris Harvery is a great photographer, if you are SA local get some pics off him if you go to the track Check out that sexy front splitter....no we dont sell them, but we did make it
  5. Thats the way Roy Its all too easy to get on the Internet and talk down others achievements. Its how the whole system works, but it doesnt make it right. We have always respected the cars, efforts, and achievements of others, particularly those we compete against. Thats the key to being successful and understanding how to get the most out of your own package. We still have a long way to go with developing the R35 and we have some - very - big news in the pipeline. Stay tuned
  6. No, its a road car, complete with registration, functioning climate control, 6 stacker, nav and all the other fruit Thats why it drives to events and then races on its factory road tyres then drives home Not a sports sedan then really is it The only talking down going on in here is of our efforts. I have been racing a long time and know to always respect the achievements of others This is the cross the GTR owners has to bear, and nothing has changed in 20 years
  7. Go to your local Nissan dealer with a $175K+ cheque, its quicker than flying to Adelaide
  8. Dont read it then and let the R35 owners enjoy. Its easy
  9. That and those that have never driven one, and with very little driving knowledge or experience saying how easy the R35 is to drive. It is almost line for line a direct lift out from 1991, only the model has changed My answer to the 'its so easy to drive no wonder its quick' line is 'serves you right for driving crap'
  10. This is a decision for the board mods to assess. Willall Racing sell very little product in Australia, nor do we focus locally as a key market. We are primarily a development and export company, and we do not advertise product on this forum. Unfortunately being an R35 development and engineering company sometimes the product we use on the car gets referenced, and thats unavoidable if the readers want to know the setup. However having been a member of this board since 2002, we have met some great people along the way, and made some good friends in the R35 GTR scene, some of which are customers, some of which are not. This is our avenue of talking to these guys and sharing the news of the success of our GTR with them. I believe the guys that own R35s enjoy this information and sharing of knowledge. I can also see why others who arent excited about the R35 GTR and arent interested could put a negative slant on what we post. If the R35 owners dont want us posting news and information about racing events on here thats fine, but let the owners and the folks this forum area was designed for have their say
  11. Well look at it this way, in the top 5 cars the Willall cars were the only ones that actually drove to the track (not trailered race cars) and also actually drove to the track on the tyres they raced on The Willall GTR was missing the passenger seat and rear seat squab to allow harness mounting for the driver The Willall GTR runs minimal power modifications, standard turbochargers, just full exhaust and a tune on pump fuel (E85) The Willall GTR was running factory specification Dunlop RSST SP600 Run Flats on factory rims. - Rice Cooker please turn off the angry eyes on this. I am a big fan of the RX7s, and have been for years, however if you were to place the cars I commented in a CAMS Motor Racing category for which they would be legal it is indeed Sports Sedan. These (or at least one I looked at) are structurally modified widebody cars that are neither Production nor Improved Production eligible at least at a quick glance. This is not an insult or a put down, they are a great yardstick, and very quick - However....if our achievements at the track an this minimal level have upset you then pray we never get serious with the modifications and development of this car....all though this time may well be inevitable. There is a possibility the Willall GTR drove itself, Keir could have been asleep in there, but I can say it certainly beats standing on the hill all day and then coming on here setting a lap record with your keyboard. Keir is doing a great job behind the wheel actually and with a best of 1:12.19 at Mallala he is certainly showing to be extremely capable as a circuit driver considering in most recent times he was drag racing our 8 second R32GTR. I believe he has gone quicker and faster at Mallala than anyone else entered in the event, so he has experience on his side The congrats from actual R35 owners, those that have driven these cars, and fans is all appreciated. Here is a nice little video one of the Porsche Club guys took - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xsZ0GLayM7w Big things coming at the race track from us this year
  12. Thanks Munro The good news for you is that we have a complete blueprint for your GTR now to get it straight on the pace with zero experiments Just saying is all
  13. New time attack rules stipulate a strict 'no-slicks' policy so for the first round of MGEC we went looking for a tyre option to fit the stock rims. After discussion with Toyo where we offered to perform some testing on their R888 (which has received mixed reviews in track enviornments), and finding out they were not interested in being part of our GTR test program in Australia, it was back to the known quantity and high performance Dunlop run flat We didnt expect to do particularly well up against 350rwkw cars (FD RX7s etc) weighing just on 1000kg and with 12 inch R compound tyres, but careful car setup, some work on the chassis balance, new Willall aero parts, and a 'bigger' version of our WR35WS brake water spray system soon allowed the GTR to show its mettle. Slowly, we got the balance right and dialled more and more power back into the engine tune using gear and throttle dependent boost settings for the cold and partially damp track surface till we just pipped fastest time of the day with a 1:13.75 second lap, only 1.5 seconds slower than the GTR on full slicks, and on a worse grip day to boot. This amazing time gave us top spot on the podium by just under a tenth of a second Great driving, good setup, and careful working through the data gave use the slim advantage we held onto till the end. Heres the GTR approaching the 'kink' at around 210km/h. Note the nice flat stance, and the front splitter staying good and stiff giving a slight nose down pitch into the turn in point. While not as exciting I set a new PB in the Willall EVO X nudging 1:17.59 and being a little unhappy not to crack into the 16 second zone. It turned out to be fourth fastest time of the day in the tricky conditions, and was enough for a Willall 1 - 2 in the Club AWD Categroy as well as outright victory in the 'Tuner Challenge'. All good fun
  14. You arent going to control a 3800lb car with 1100/1200lb/in spring rates and have any semblence of comfort Look how far the ride versus handling envelope is compromised standard. You want to improve the handling? Sacrifice more ride. No smoke and mirrors, just plain facts
  15. Heres our front splitter in action - Thats bounced off the kerb through the Mallala esses on 1200lb/in springs
  16. Not bad since we were on the standard Dunlop road tyres these cars come with, not R compound or semi-slick like the other competitiors. Drove to the track, wiped the windscreen, drove it. Simple, and thats the GTR advantage
  17. No problems Dunc, glad to be part of it
  18. Thats what we like to see a GTR and Willall Racing up the front Great event guys, thanks!
  19. Its not the same 'stuff' The BMW DCT fluid is a different base product with the same viscosity. Note that it is used in BMW transmissions etc, mainly that are Getrag based that dont share the same common clutch pressure lip seal (Borg Warner part) as the GTR. Notably we sell a lot of new internal GTR transmission seals to the markets that have been the early adopters of this product, so take note, and add it to your poster should you need to
  20. Oh snap...the quandary is this is an R35 forum and we make R35 parts... Heres some helpful information on our GTR - Suspension: JRZ Pro Bars: Stock Alignment: Stock It doesnt come much simpler than that
  21. Handbrake if you are going to void your warranty by changing transmission fluid, then at least upgrade the specification some. The fluid you highlight has the similar low viscosity (7cSt @ 100C) and low oxidation point as the factory GR6 fluid. If you are going to risk the high wear rates associated with this type of oil then maybe stick to the factory fluid and spend a few hundred dollars extra here and there when changing to maintain the integrity of your warranty. Changing the fluid often, after tracking, doesnt stop transmission wear. All it does is remove the metal your transmission has just made (via lack of hydrodynamic film strength between the gears) and freshen up the fluid that has 'broken down' after passing its effective lubrication point. The 'cheap' transmission fluid option is the one that will do substantial mileage without needing constant changes, and doesnt oxidise under severe track use. Frequent changing is no substitute for correct lubricant specification in the first place. Remember, the GTR transmission only requires its fluid changed so regularly as the base lubricant isnt up to the transmission load requirement in the first place
  22. We run Castrol SRF Full Synthetic and havent had any issues
  23. Dunc, you may find that you are not actually any quicker across the face of turn 1 at EC due to the 'sitting a fat kid in the boot' effect of the wing. As we both know high speed oversteer is not an issue with the GTR, so giving more rear downforce (unbalanced) will generate more high speed understeer, a condition to which the GTR is naturally prone, and one that is acceptable, however not desirable. The real advantage of the AM wing on the GTR will be seen when the nose is balanced with better downforce - at least thats my take on it. Testing Monday
  24. Oh apologies.....I thought you were joking about saving weight and money by not running a high fuel load! The downside to it all is that as you start to get quicker right handers will begin to cause the engine to cough and splutter from fuel surge. Been there, done that Run a Driftbox, takes all the guessing out of lap times
  25. The oil choices we make are pretty clear VR38DETT should not be operated hard on anything less than 10w-60 in our climate, and the durability of our combination raced regularly at 700ps+ shows this to be a wise move. Internal engine parts are so clean and like 'new' after running on E85 it produces very little carbon residue on anything....however like any fuel if the engine is poorly tuned (run too rich) it can and will start to dilute the oil - the same way petrol does, so no special concerns
