  1. Thats the way we do things RAZOR32....it was 42 degrees out at the track today....and there we were testing. All the while our brand new Mainline AWD dyno was sitting idle Damn it was hot though! So instead of stressing the R35, we took the Lamborghini out instead
  2. I better stop commenting in this thread from now on.....I have a pet Greyhound True - lunch = Its like a modern Porsche to an R35 (an easy meal - this time with 'Toff'ee on top)
  3. We are fitting the first set of the CCM GTR brakes in Australia early in the new year Great to see you like your tune barcode!
  4. The Bosch Motronic hardware that runs the Porsche management system has its roots back in the F1 turbo days and is the most developed, advanced, and widely used commercially available management system available to manufacturers today. It is far and away a more advanced and modular platform than the Hitachi architecture in the GTR As for the torque split, having just dynoed GTR vs 997 Turbo recently (as you well know Fungoolie) the Mainline AWD chassis dyno logged and plotted the way the AWD systems in each car work, and their response in a WOT transient at identical acceleration rates was similar, VERY similar, I can even graph them here for you if need be. Facts are, the best electronics in the world - which Porsche have - is not going to overcome the fact the physics that the current 911 is still based on the poorly balanced Fuhrers Peoples Car of the 1930s. This is why 911s time has been, and is gone
  5. Easy, buy an EVO X....no balance shaft
  6. Marek, rumour has it that Santa in his VR38 powered sleigh is bringing Duncan -30kg and +15kw to put under the tree.....just a heads up
  7. Awesome work guys, thats motoring in anyones book! Great to see Marek out there and kicking some serious butt too.....looks like a two way fight for the title next year if ever I have seen one
  8. We brag about track times, not dyno numbers
  9. Thanks for those that came yesterday, it was a great chance to compare modifications and of course have the face off with the mighty Porsche 997TT. Lets just say some of the GTR owners were more than a little surprised by the result! But competition is always healthy All testing carried out properly strapped on our new Mainline AWD dyno using realistic ramp rates 10km/sec and no fancy corrections. No happy power, just real power
  10. Hey Birds, can you order me one of those for our R35, would be more than happy to pay the asking price
  11. These are the same guys that refer to the EVO X Twin Clutch manual gearbox as an 'Auto'.....says it all really
  12. Great night, thanks for having us, great club. Cheers
  13. The issue of brakes and tracked GTRs is an important one. Most of the cracking occurs when the brake pad literally 'pulls apart' the overheated disc under brake application. The key is to keep the temperatures under control. We have been working on a solution to this problem for some time. Regardless it doesnt matter how well you cool your brakes after the fact, the damage occurs during the application and at that point temperature needs to be managed
  14. Yes but your Ferrari is a XXX (like the wax, only slightly less painful)
  15. 599s and 612s are the F cars I am most cautious of on the track as they go well in a straight line but are such terrible handlers and the traction control so intrusive they almost grind to a stop mid-corner. You need to be very carefully lined up in the 35 so that you dont run into the back of them on corner exit as that certainly would be an expensive mess. 360s are generally too slow to mix it with most of the stock GTRs we have on track days so dont really spend much time in their vicinity on the track. F355 and older are generally roadblocks that ruin everyones day. No hating, just generally find them annoying to the faster guys that want to get some track time in
  16. Its such a great conversation too......should start one about 'Whats the best car wax for a Skoda?' to match it Really though, seriously the 90s and early 2000 era Ferraris are shocking, slow, horrible old cars - and yes I have driven them. Comparing one of these old girls with a current generation Japanese Supercar is just dumb. In fact last time I checked on the TG lap time board GTR seemed to be about as quick as Enzo - the pride of the fleet I relish the chance to lap modern generation Ferraris in the 35 on track days. Its a personal hobby
  17. Yes they are nice cars, and the owners are cool too..... http://www.news.com.au/adelaidenow/story/0...5006301,00.html Gutless heap of old junk ploughed into some innocent guys 4wd. Lovely
  18. The prosecution rests its case and rules in favour of the Nissan
  19. Ahh I see, I THOUGHT we were trying to work out whats better, an F360 or an R35 GTR as a modern car F360 is not fast, has pose value to some, and a sense of history. It also attracts all the cool dudes if that happens to be your thing
  20. So it comes down to - if you want to buy a car to go fast on the track, buy a GTR if you want pose value a sense of history and performance isnt important then the Ferrari ticks the boxes
  21. All Malcolm has really said here is that Ferraris are good to look at, not drive. This holds particularly true of the old cars, the modern F360 being a fairly soft interpretation of the Ferrari theme A good example comes from old faithful the Nurburgring lap time sheet. The Challenge Stradale (full race version of the F360) is a stunning 30 seconds a lap slower than the 2009 GTR. Thats a long, long way, and it shares its time with the NSX of the era, a car noted for its lack of general grunt Ferrari dude, he knows the right uses
  22. I must admit although not being particularly quick, or even very good looking, the 360 attracts some fun kind of people..... Check out the full Ferrari F360 experience here - http://ferrariguyforhire.com/ An oldie but a goodie - and very relevant to this thread
  23. Yes, GTR in a short period of time has shown that is indeed an exceptional track tool which makes it perfect for those that want to go quick, the limits are still out there. One only has to look at the progress of GOTO Racing and Forged in the US to see the development in action
  24. Thanks Leif We have some new setup going into the GTR now and with all the ducks in a row, lined up, and working correctly we are expecting to see a mid 1:12 out of the GTR before Santa makes his visit. Certainly is a very impressive car
  25. Ok so I lost the internet battle, fail me now HOWEVER...I did attend a private drag day with the owner of an F360 which ran consistent 13.4 second 1/4 mile passes over about five runs (stock + Tubi), and at the time a new VZ LS2 Grange ran 13.3 also quite consistently (totally stock), which to me puts their performance fairly similar if not the Ferrari being slightly slower. I know its not a Google search and its something that actually happened in real life, but surely that doesnt make it any less credible on the Internet does it?
