Just letting you guys know we have at Willall two sets of GTR front RE070R tyres with around 30% left and a set of rear RE070R tyres about the same (maybe a bit less) for sale if anyone needs some test tyres for $500 the lot - plus shipping of course. Just making room if someone wants some spare trackday tyres without ruining their new pieces. PM if you want them

You have to remember Gover struggles to get a decent car writing gig these days..... Copying Jeremy Clarksons 'doesnt rouse my wedding vegetables' tack may get him a little more noticed amongst editors as the 'Anti GTR guy' Thats all it comes down to

Madaz, Our dyno 'front module' should be here and installed/operational before mid year. Its been ordered from Mainline. 4WD is a very important part of our R35 GTR development program, so it will be done, you can count on it

It is true Willall do not perform a lot of general service work these days. Our production schedule and engineering requirement for our WR35 GTR parts line-up puts paid to most conventional workshop style affairs. We do however undertake customer builds in certain instances. For example over the next six months Willall will turn out a specialised drag R33 GTR (owner looking for sub 10 second times - and obviously we have done this before). We also have a Tarmac Rally R34 GTR to build, and a complete ground up on an R35 to CAMS Tarmac Modern regulations. For this work Willall are fortunate enough to have Mark Tilbrook overseeing the process. I may be biased having known Mark for 20 years, but he has 'mechanical touch' and fabrication skills that are second to none and a track record of successful cars such as the 2nd place Targa R34 for Glenney and the dominant CTS drift car. So yes, providing you have the budget and a serious and mature outlook on the expectations and realities, then Willall can indeed build the GTR for you

Round #3 2009 Nsw Sprint Championships, Wakefield Park
Martin Donnon replied to LSX-438's topic in R35 GTR
Till the very last outing they were stock pads....then in went the Endless pads and the rotors just fell apart - beware those with aftermarket pad intentions on the stock rotors! Now its AP rotors and Endless pads... -

You need to work on your 'hardness factor' I think Duncan. Heres the front brake discs of our GTR after 5 or 6 track days (noting that Mallala is notoriously a hard braking track with three big stops per lap) Looks like a 5th day MCG pitch thats for sure....easily fixed though -

Great work Duncan! What kind of Trans Temps were you seeing? And how are the brakes holding up? -
You should have been around in the early R32 GTR tuning days 1991 - 2000 there were plenty of them broken, and pretty much for the same reasons the R35 breaks today - finger trouble There is nothing new in this, its just history repeating.... R35 taking the trifecta, Targa West, Rally Tas, Targa Tas, and all in less than 12 months. Imagine if these cars were engineered properly!

I spoke to Quinn at Clipsal, apparently its a HKS system Runs at homologated stock weight, and is pretty much a standard car with a few tweaks
-
Especially the roads around Tasmania late April
-
Might go out and pull a few Launches now to celebrate
-
Looks like Quinn and the R35GTR has it Go you under-engineered, overweight, fragile, over priced, ugly, good thing!
-
Not bad for a $170K car 'built to a price' mixing it up with $500K cars in outright performance
-
I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings......but ALL cars are built to a price Some can afford the price of entry, others bitch about it
-
Fair enough question. Firstly though Nissan Aus are well aware of who we (Willall) are and what we are doing. There have been emails forwarded around the dealer network with the name mentioned, nothing negative though thankfully The pricing on our WR35TM GR6 Transmission Fluid and WR35DF Solid Boundary differential fluid is indeed cheaper than the standard Nissan product, so there are some savings to be had, not only to the life of the components, but also your back pocket!
-
Thanks for the call today Gibbo.... we can have everything underway for you tomorrow if required The piece I wrote in wheels certainly did turn out to be a good albeit educated guess!

Some interesting discussion here re: transmission servicing, and here are some observations from our end.... Whilst it is entirely plausible for Nissan to deliver their dealers a 'flag based' servicing strategy i.e. Flickr reports Trans Tmp > 130 then service, this does not describe the actual wear rate or service life of the factory GR6 Fluid Accurately. Using the US example this would then lead to the conclusion that 10 track days at 129C would have less effect on the integrity of the transmission fluid (service at 18,000 miles) than one track day at 131C (service at 1,800 miles). This of course is not true or accurate in any sense, but Nissan are not to be blamed here, they are giving some basic indicators to their service departments to keep these cars running properly. The reality is that factory GR6 fluid oxidises very quickly with temperature. Our analysis over the past 10 - 12 months from many different cars has shown that the factory fluid starts to oxidise (visually represented by a blackening of the fluid) as soon as it spends any time over 100C. Its quite confusing (at least initially) to see fluid that went in Green come out Black only a short time later, particularly when there is no chance of pollution with combustion gas as their is with engine oil. The downside of having a fluid that oxidises quickly is that when this does happen the ability of the fluid to lubricate breaks down and some serious wear and failure modes set into the machine - which in this case is the GR6 transmission. Now Nissan are well aware of these accelerated wear rates, which is why they have such tight guidelines for gearbox servicing, with the GR6 requiring transmission flushing at a previously unheard of (in the automotive world anyway) frequency. This instability of transmission fluid was something we tackled head on in the early days of our WR35TM transmission fluid development, as at the 130 - 140C we were seeing during track days we wanted to avoid oxidisation altogether, using a formulation that wont see any serious degradation till over 150C. Anyway thats our thing, and not the point of this post....so lets make it clear then - This post is not an attempt to make you rush out and change oil, but rather an explanation that might help owners out there understand that keeping just under the Nissan temp threshold and extending service will possibly be doing more damage to the transmission than getting it hotter and having a flush. One thing for sure is that the GR6 is no black-box, it like most transmissions wears at a decent rate regardless of fluid temperature, with lubricant quality being critical due to the extreme power and torque loads that can be placed on the GR6 from the fabulous VR38DETT engine

Yes we have...many We also have a cooler upgrade that will work perfectly with any aftermarket exhaust, including the HKS 'Pretzel' on schedule for release next week
-
Thanks for the kind words on our Willall stuff guys, it sure is a labour of love However heat wrapping the exhaust wont reduce transmission temperature. The actual heat isnt something that comes from outside the transmission and radiates in, but rather a function of the energy of the engine being turned into drive at the transmission itself. As Newton was quick to point out there will indeed be conservation of energy, some goes into transferring power, some into noise, and some into heat. Good lubricants and good coolers can drastically reduce the transmission temperature, and the applications of these on R35 I do happen to know something about
-
Well done Dunc! Now get the WR35MP midpipe on, the WR35TM Transmission oil in, and go for broke You might want to look at a set of AP rotors and Endless pads (have them on our GTR) and it transformed the braking performance of the thing....still if your trans temps only got to 110 I am tipping there is another 0.5 in it as is
-
Brace yourself Duncan 120 degrees you can get in a doddle....which is why we have products like WR35TM and WR35TC. The dealers know very little about how these cars peform on the road let alone the track. Pre Cooler we had seen 145C many times, and with a good fluid, there is no problem
-
Look, I must admit I would not mind giving up my daily R35 GTR for a Z4...as long as I could get the bag and shoes to match Null comparison fellas.....
-
Yes, the Z4 is more fun, specially when the owners curling tongs come off the back seat and get jammed under the brake pedal......I mean really..... Gives Hyundai hope for their Getz, as full throttle can be used everywhere and it certainly has no power

Adm R35 Gtr - What The Car Did Not Come With....but...
Martin Donnon replied to Gibbo_R35's topic in R35 GTR
The Aussie cars I have seen dont have voice recognition software, ie. there is no cute sounding little Japanese chick to answer Sumo commands when driving. No biggie, but like the CF card its a mystery why its not there?
