  1. Yeah, its been the development bed for GenX2. The kit gave it - at this stage - 10mph and 0.8 seconds improvement over the baseline. Not bad for the money. Like I said though we will go faster, maybe around 11.6 ish. Then the GenX2 comes off, the stocker engine out, and the 427 cuber goes in!
  2. Ive got around 295 - 300rwkw depending on the conditions. Have run 115.9 mph, but also have 1650kg + me to push. The biggest problem is the aerodynamic wind brake that the Tonner applies. It cuts the air like a poorly designed brick. Wipes maybe 3 - 4mph off it at that speed.
  3. I was all lined up side by side ready to give Keir a whooping, and the bugger cut the first amber, red lighted, and sucked me into the same. You really have to watch him being the car in the other lane. The acceleration from around 400ft is incredible. I checked his timecard afterwards, 1/2 track mph 122, mine 92. 30mph....GULP.
  4. There are some good Club PSi people. Ben that bought GTs old car is a nice fella, as is that Tein bloke. Dont judge the majority of the PSi clan on the pimply faced cheesedicks that lurk around forums....and are still saving for their "Foollee sick Qs non turbies moite".
  5. You miss my point twig dick. I meant in MY car. Not the ol snap, crackle, woosh, rice bubble! You know the saying, 'Eat it, Dont drive it!' and my, GTRs taste nice
  6. Refer my post on 'safe' Maxx. Rich for the sake of rich is plain dumb
  7. Shoulda got me to run that ricer for ya Matt, could have put him AND his sidepipe in the bin for you
  8. Top marks Trent Probably two of the most insightful and well though out posts Ive read on a forum
  9. Yeah look Matt, that was just a shake down. Heathcote should see it run in the mid 11s
  10. James has plenty of contacts. Failing that look in the front of the magazine you want help from. There will be an editors name, and a phone number.
  11. Nice idea. Why dont you take it up with some of the magazines
  12. What Steve is suggesting isnt a bad idea at all. It would do the local industry some good to be see what the Japanese are capable of first hand. I am sure that Signal wont charge $1500 to adjust Ericas timing and clean the air filter - which is what a tune to a stock computer 32 comprises of....
  13. Nothing good comes easy mate! After reading your last post I feel sorry for Bai. It would be like an Aussie mechanic flying to Japan to tune HSVs, and finding a carpark full of VB Commdores
  14. Come on Matt, theres 1/2 a second between us now mate. Close it down, close it down! My best in the Tonner last night - 11.93 If you want a pearler track, to see what your car will really do mate you should head on over to the LS1 Drag Nationals at Heathcote on the 16th/17th. For the $100 entry you will have two days of racing, and the single best prepped track you will ever see. I fully expect to knock 0.3 from my time due to the excellent track and air there. Plus, we have Keir racing heads up against Theo Woollet for the Skyline fans. Both these guys want PBs
  15. Steve, Keirs car has a set of Trust turbos, some cams, headwork etc on an 86 x 86mm OS RB engine. No smoke and mirrors. Its more valid than a lot of the poorly thought out and badly built cars you may consider to be of hero status. The fact that its reliable, and not constantly crapping engines etc. is because its properly setup, and of course, tuned. Their street R32, complete with the 8.8 second OS engine will be complete in around 6 months. This will provide a fairly comprehensive lesson in how to properly build and engineer a reliable 1000hp street car. Anyway back to the point! Having a Jap tune your Jap car is like having a designer label on your jeans. If it gives you a warm fuzzy then by all means do it! It also means that Signal sticker is no longer just a rice accessory. Point out to them though that our fuel is a LOT different to theirs, in more ways than just basic RON measurement. Erica, dont you know some of the best tuners around?
  16. Clint, Willall do all their own tuning work in-house
  17. high number with safe tuning...........I like that. Tuning an engine for outright power is a job an average 5 year old child could be trained to undertake in the space of a couple of hours. There is no such thing as 'safe' though. A couple of degrees out of the ignition, or some additional fuel to be 'safe' could actually be quite unsafe. None of the great aftermarket tuners I see either here or overseas uses thermocouples to measure EGT, pull engines down to have a look at the effect of mixture of valve regression etc. and see how 'safe' their 'safe' really is. Most guess. The only folks that do it properly are the race teams. Which is why, a dirty old 5 litre pushrod V8 with a maximum comp of 10:1 and a rev limit of 7500rpm can last over 1000km of near continual full load producing over 500kw. Its all very basic thermodynamics.
  18. Nice call N/A. Way too many demi gods involved in the 'smoke and mirrors trickery' that is the import tuning scene for me! I am an interested observer of the scene though, watching how 'a tune' has become yet another bolt on accessory for a car. Yeah, got neons, turbo, boosh valve, XYZ tune. Lets look at some facts. Fastest OS Giken 3 litre GTR in the world - tuned and run in Adelaide, Willall Racing. Fastest WRX in the world, tune by TRP Sydney. CRD have some sort of world SR record too with 9.2 out of their S14 200SX. The Japanese came to learn from Gibson Motorsport in the GTR days as they were unable to tune their engines to last for anything other than short sprint races. The list goes on and on. Whats the top line Japanese tuners weapon of choice? Motec. Wheres it made? Melbourne. All the players in the LS1 scene here in Aus used to think that the Americans were 5 years down the road on us in terms of tuning and setting up these engines. Their engine, and they had it ages before us, so it would make sense. When one of the big guys came over from the US they were blown away, couldnt believe what the top notch guys in Aus could do with the things. They actually took some training and went back to improve their own setups. Each to their own though
  19. Wouldnt it be cheaper and easier for the customer then for them to just supply a tune over the telephone? I agree, you dont need stuff like a wide band air fuel ratio meter or a dyno to tune a car. Its all mostly overrated.
  20. Maybe that was a bit subtle for you Steve My question is why would you get one of 'Japans top tuners' to tune an Australian computer in Australia? ie. a Motec.
  21. Does he work on Commodores too?
  22. The concept of promoting laminar flow through a wire mesh 0.3mm thick is an interesting one. Maybe though the improved idle has more to do with the wire screen reducing the cross sectional area of the afm by around 5%. Even better though, would be to tune a decent idle into it
  23. Thats a long shot steve
  24. Matty, you should have a look at Keir Wilsons data logging. He selects 4th gear while stationery in his OS 6 speed and just mashes the throttle to get the burnout going. No dump of the clutch, no brake, nothing. Now thats a burnout!
  25. You read me wrong Matt. Its not an agro thing, just that I see you wasting the potential of the car meet after meet. Beg, borrow, steal some ET streets, cook em hard, till the smoke bags off them. Drop the clutch at 4000rpm and there you have your 11 second pass @ 120mph.
