  1. Matt, dont whinge about the track, we all know its average on a Wednesday. Buy some proper tyres, do a proper burnout, and get a decent time! It really is as simple as that
  2. Watch it though Whatsisname, normally the faster time you run, the lower your terminal speed with full bodied cars like yours and mine. More time taken to get to the line will generally give you more acceleration 'on' time which can SOMETIMES result in a higher speed. Look at my Soarer, when I was running it with 280rwkw @ 1680kg of weight, it ran 13.01 @ 122mph, and a couple of 13.3s @ 124mph
  3. Cops never pull me over at defect stations, and Ive been through 2 (city and greenhill road) in the last week, both times in an old stock R33 GTS four door. They look, and look away. Now if I was to rice the hell out of it with a massive tail pipe, wheels of the wrong offset, stretch the tyres over the rims, lower it, a few drift stickers and crap like that? They would defect it every time. Hands up who has ever been defected here with a totally stock and roadworthy vehicle?
  4. AFAIK a Tarago is an import. Made in Japan
  5. Come on Johnny, mines only an oily old rattler, not a whiz bang super tuned turbo! All good fun. It did however feel quite nice today John, the XR ute that is.
  6. 13.1 seconds from the big full house Cobra 350 conversion John! A little disappointing for the outlay eh? Dont feel too bad though mate, its only point three slower than my stocky Holden tonner... Got some work to do Johnny, got some work to do! As an aside, you racing at the Ute Muster? If so, see you there
  7. Steve, I see your passion for this subject. Dont get me wrong Im not saying exhaust tips or stickers are illegal. Not at all. They do however catch the coppers attention, and turn their heads. It gives their otherwise simple minds something to focus on. To blatantly state that Commodores dont attract defects? Well, thats probably being a little bit too emotional about the subject. They get them as well. Maybe not in the same numbers, BUT per capita, you will find there are more stock 'Dores out there vs GTS-ts. I agree with your statement on freedoms, and our constitutional rights, but try telling that to the family I saw cut out of their car and hospitalised last week, in a horrific accident, where a pin dick in a 'Dorifto 180' lost the thing and head-on whopped these poor bastards. Sure there are Commodores and Falcons that are involved in horror accidents, but the import thing, its a new enemy to the coppers, with a whole bunch of kids now trying to 'drift' on public roads. It was something that didnt occur a couple of years ago, which is one reason the Police are being so vigilant now. While there is a whole subculture supporting and encouraging this activity, including shops, press, etc. dont expect the situation to change any time soon. As for SAPOL? Their policies regarding break ins and attendance have been bordering on a joke for a long time now. Theres not much revenue in that type of activity, and unfortunately the SAPD is an accountable, profit generating concern, with quotas and budgets to fill. To fill you in on the topic of legal action Steve - Writing about RAWS or SEVS is fine. In fact writing on just about anything is fine, until you involve, or even mention, the Police Force. They have a bunch of government empowered Nazis known as the Police Media Unit which have far reaching powers. They can force a journalist to divulge their sources, charge them with contempt, all sorts of things. I have no wish to tangle with them anytime soon.
  8. If you dont want to buy a V8, then how about, obeying the road rules, removing ugly stickers, deleting noisy blow off valve, and fitting sensible exhaust tip. That would be a good start...as its encases all the things the cops look for...and would improve the general look and perception of these cars on the road no end.
  9. Thats ok, just mention the thread
  10. http://www.ls1dragnationals.com.au/entry.htm
  11. Yes it is. Entries on a first in best dressed scenario
  12. Yeah, I know it sounds a bit odd, but Keir Wilson is taking his 8.8 second GTR to Heathcote to run in the 'Outlaw' section of the LS1 Drag Nationals www.ls1dragnationals.com.au With some interest from the XR6 turbo guys, and the Commodore set (obviously), it would be good to get a couple of Melbournes quicker Skylines involved. Give it a bit of balance. The prizemoney for the Skyline bracket (14.00 and faster DYO) isnt bad either
  13. Errr Geelong...thats Ford. Thats also general knowledge, not any sign you are a fan of anything
  14. Since when were Holdens manufactured in Melbourne? Every single Commodore is made in Adelaide mate!
  15. Here it is then guys, the one off and highly excellent chance for the Ricers to put away the Rattly Oil Burners once and for all. Its the LS1 Drag Nationals, and interestingly enough one of the event sponsors, and main competitors is Keir Wilson in his R32 GTR. Go figure! Prizemoney is excellent though...so if you are up for it, download an entry form and fill it out! http://www.ls1dragnationals.com.au
  16. Seen 7 in an LS1. I win
  17. How about the old, First to use a litre of oil challenge!
  18. Yes, just dont let the cops see you!
  19. Henrys stocker just ran 12.58 on radials......Robs Monaro 11.8 on radials (Falkens or some such rubbish).....maybe you wont win em all
  20. I dont think too many guys that drag Commodores would be interested in Japanese Street Drag Rules! Having said that, I think PlanB ran an 11 on Nittos, reckoned they werent much slower than his slicks, which was interesting

  22. You had your chance to run as many LS1s as you could on Wednesday nights at AIR. So far your time would put you in about 32nd place on the list
  23. Absolutely, costs being finalised now
  24. I of all people understand that the top end Skyline competitors have invested vast sums of both time and money in these cars, and need to be given all due respect and consideration, which is what they will receive from the LS1 drag community. All of the fast LS1 guys I know are in awe of cars like Keirs, and would gladly take time out to watch it run.
  25. Thats the thing, the egos will be left in the shed, and the racing kept to the track. When we approached Willall Racing about the event, they were more than happy to be involved, which gives Melbourne Skyline guys a great opportunity to see the car, live in action
