^^^My new injectors are 555cc. Yes i'm not that concerned with the max power as i gained a lot through the midrange but it feels funny when i rev it and it pulls hard and then at around 6k it just revs with no gain. Starting to lose traction now in second at around 4k (265 rear tyres) so i will need to concentrate on the rear end soon. I would have thought my thermo fan would have done a better job but yesterday proved otherwise. What i did notice was the bottom half of the SMIC was cooler than the top. Might have worked better with a shroud but i cant be bothered. I'm looking at around 260rwkw pretty soon, so a front mount is my only option. My r34 SMIC will be for sale soon so let me know if your keen!! The first run where we hit 235rwkw it did not knock at all. When it did start he backed off timing and kept knocking, backed off boost and kept knocking so took it down to 14psi and took more timing off. This tune is a safe compromise as its great midrange and dies off early. I could have knocked it down to 11psi and made the same top end figure but lost in the middle. Can anyone tell me if having a lot of timing taken off in the top end is doing any damage??? I have started to just shift early and use all my mid range......still fun to drive!

Got my injectors and z32 put in yesterday along with a tune. First off it made 235rwkw on 16psi but after a couple of runs it started to get heat soak and ping. Tuner wound it down to 14psi and still problems up top so had to retard timing a lot after around 5500rpm. I have gained around 25rwkw in the midrange but top end has still only got around 210kw. The car did seem not right as we previously made 210 on 2psi less boost with a lot more timing. I'm not sure if something else is wrong or if i got some bad fuel. I will be upgrading to a front mount soon. It was aa little warmer yesterday but nothing compared to summer.

Who Does Rb25det Standard Comp Re-map?
Bond replied to Deano GTS-T's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Are you sure you heard him correctly cause i have had this done (by dr drift) and as well as ecu daughterboard and tune he had to stuff around for a while with my actuator (cut it shorter, weld a threaded rod and drill and tap the other side to make it adjustable instead of bend it like i would have lol) and he charged me around half of the $600 you saying just for the tune!!!! I'm going back tomorrow for another tune as well as new injectors and z32. -
If your keeping it fairly stock why not just get an r34 smic? I have one on mine (only 200rwkw) and its cheap and an easy job to do yourself

I got done by a TOG officer recently and he was a nice bloke that obviously wasn't interested in meeting targets. He actually down graded my fine and didnt look over the car at all (not that there is anything wrong). I think having words with me did a lot more than giving me a huge fine. If you want to catch ppl driving way too fast in that area go down to Gilbert park drive at knock off time. Its a 60 zone but many commodore drivers doing well over 100km/hr.

Series 2 R33 Gtst In Immaculate Condition
Bond replied to Fero's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
Whats the price? -
Another great one is ether Eltham-yarraglen road or skyline road (lol). A good drive from the west is to get on the ring road, get off at Greensborough and drive along diamond creek road, then wattleglen road and then either of the 2 above. These lead to healesville.

You can find instructions on the net. The outlet of the compressor is fed to the exhaust inlet, mixed with fuel and ignited.

Those results are great. You said that on your final power run the afr's were 11.8. Does that mean you are using the same amount of e85 as bp98?
-
I didnt make one myself but i got to stuff around and test one at uni in the dyno lab made from an old truck engine. Pretty cool fun and there is not much to them
-
When i was running stock boost i ran 95 and its fine!!!!! Now that its been tuned for 98 i only run 98 (remap ecu) but the other day my mrs fillied it up with 95 The ecu automatically pulled a heap of timing and it was fine (still went well). Just used it all up and filled it back with 98 and all good. Cant comment on a power fc though.

Whats wrong with a gt3040???? I have one and its great!!!! I'm still running under 10spsi but the previous owner was making around 260rwkw safely. With the 0.62 rear it startrs making boost at just over 2000rpm and full boost by 2700. I havent been in too many other skylines but this combination makes a great daily car as i have a heap of low and mid range to play with.
-
Nahh no electronic boost control. I actually want it on even when its not boosting so it has time to cool down after its off boost so its ready for when i'm on boost again (does that make any sense?)
-
Why would he need spitfires???
-
Fair enough but could you imagine how many you would see if they were sub 100k???
-
So why is it only US$76000 in the states (After the new price rise) which equals roughly AU$97000?? Boxter or GTR???? I would go the GTR LOL

I hooked up a 9 inch thermo fan to the SMIC yesterday. If i would do it again i would use a 7 inch fan as this one overlaps slightly but still seems to push a lot of air. I wanted to mount it on the back of the SMIC but the mounting brackets got in the way so its at the front pushing air through. I happend to find the wire for the factory fog lights right next to the cooler. The fan only draws 3.5 amps so the factory wiring is fine and i have a switch and relay already there!!!! Because of the low power usage i ahve just been leaving the fan on while driving. Not sure of the difference it makes as only running 200rwkw and the cooler pipes always feel cool to touch anyway but i'm sure it has to make a difference. THe r34 smic is quite thick and even with the fan it takes a lot of effort to force air through it so i cant see how it works in its factory position in traffic. I used the padding from the factory duct to seal the fan better and it made a big difference with how much air is actually forced through the entire cooler rather than just blown over the front. Anyway i spoke to my tuner and his dyno is having troubles so i might not be able to get it dynoed b4 i go back to work. I recomend mounting a fan as its cheap, easy and seems to draw a lot of air through the cooler. I have seen the same fan on ebay for $27....so not exactly expensive. James PS: I have ticked the email notification box but i never get emails when ppl post!!

Good build up. You have heaps of room for improvement there as your peak power is still fairly low (5700rpm). Lift the torque curve up another 1000rpm and it will start to liven up a bit more.
-
It doesnt fit on the tb42 or tb45 and the latest 6 cyl (actually 4.8litre) is already double overhead cam, vvt and 4 valves per cylinder. Around 180kw stock but a few ppl have started turboing them with excellent results.....but its a big motor!!
-
^^^ I can see myself getting a front mount in the future as i have seeen the potential with this turbo from the previous owner. I thought i would just give this ago.....see what happens and post it up on here for other to see. On the dyno we will wind it up to its limmits and then back it off to be safe. I want to get the thermo fan on it b4 i go as it should help with continuous runs on the dyno. Last time it was on the dyno i put my hand where the SMIC was and felt hardly any airflow. My only problem is i HATE wiring things up!!! I know its not hard but its my pet hate Cheers

I dont see the big deal with asking questions on here even if you havent searched (not saying u should not search first). If other "long term" forum users dont want to read about it because they have 1000 times b4 then dont click on the thread...pretty simple. Sometimes i search and the question hasn't been asked for 1 year or even 6 months. I want to ask it again because there are new members on here all the time and they may have just experienced this problem but never thought to post anything about it or dig up an old thread. Anyway thats enough of my rant! James PS:Dont buy a chinese ebay turbo.
-
The 210rwkw was done fairky easy with the smic but maybe it was because of the different turbo making that power at a lower boost level (around 11psi) thus less heat. Anyway i will just see how it goes. If the tuner says not to go over a certain psi then i wont. I'm using it cause i got it off ebay for $50 delivered (mint condition) and also have a thermo fan just sitting in the shed. I also have a different front bumper that allows a lot of air flow and i didnt use the black ducting.
-
Thought i would dig up an old thread. Got my r33 tuned with a r34 smic and hit 210rwkw (11psi) b4 my afm maxed out (i have a gt3040 and dr drift remap). I just bout some injectors and a z32 and going to get it dynoed again. I'm not sure how far it will go but will be interesting to see how it goes at around 14psi. Its still fairly cool in melbourne so i wonder what it will be like in summer. I was thinking of bolting a small thermo fan on the back and just leave it running (only draw 3.5 amps) May not do much but has to be better than nothing when sitting at the lights. I probably wouldnt bother doing this if i was using it for track work but my car is daily driven. I might give it a little for 2 gears and then back off so i cant see it suffering too much from heat soak but time will tell. As i'm using a remapped ecu i'm guessing it should knock back the timing if it pings (anyone confirm)?? Anyway i will hopefully give this all a go some time next week. James

^^Its a dr drift remap which enables a live tune on the dyno. With this available i dont see the point of getting an aftermarket ecu for a street car unless you want to run a map sensor.
-
I get what your saying but i only have to pay for dyno time when i want a retune.......not done through the mail.
