Wheels Sticking Out Of Arches. Illegal?
*LOACH* replied to ishyz34's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I hope this isn't a repost. It is one of the funniest vids I have seen. *WARNING COARSE LANGUAGE* -
I talked to Streeter and he thinks F6A engines are better for modding than K6A engines. I assumed than that the K6A with it's alloy block, chain driven (rather than timing belt) camshafts, significantly higher torque and possible VVT (can't find anywhere to confirm whether the Cappuccino K6As had it or not) would be a much better option. Anyone else got any ideas?

Thanks again for the replies. I understand about the Shaken, but are you (Iron Chef) saying that 500 000yen for a Cappuccino with some Shaken is expensive or that it is unlikely I will find one in good condition for 500 000yen?

I think the 131166 is a national freecall whereas 94811111 is a Sydney local call... other areas had there own numbers too. We used to have ads with 94811111 jingle. Just looked on Youtube, nostalgiaed but couldn't find any.

No I just entered one in 1987 for all you can eat... Haven't left yet.

Well I was actually after a Kei car - actually I can have it both ways: hmmm....actually no.

You can add me as a referee if you like. Phone: 9481 1111

Since when are you asking other people for advice on cleaning? You are the go to man for advice in that area. I also consider you an expert in hair styling, rainbow painting and unicorn riding.

Awesome, thanks mate. I will contact him as I have talked to him before and he has helped me out. I didn't realise he had a Cappuccino though - I thought he had an S13. Nice I especially like them in black and that is what I hope to get, but finding an EA21 in black might be difficult. These are cool too (I have a bunch more pics aswell): Thanks for the reply mate. I have been looking on Goo, CS and Yahoo auctions for a while now. Seems like EA21Rs can be picked up for around 500 000 yen. Is this expensive? Are there some hidden costs I am not seeing?

You need a degree (in any area of study is fine) and a job to get a working visa. Getting a job in Osaka is really hard, from what I have seen even more difficult than Tokyo. The pay is around 250 000 yen per month for English teachers regardless of the city/area you work in. However the cost of living in Tokyo and Osaka is significantly higher than most areas. For example I have a friend in Tokyo renting a new one room apartment (near the border with Yokohama about 15 mins walk to station) for 90 000yen/month whereas my rent (in a rural area of Japan and about 20 mins walk to nearest station) also for a new one bedroom apartment is about 50 000 yen/month. Parking is also more expensive (you have to have a car space owned/rented before buying a car) so owning a car in those cities may be difficult.

I finally got my Japanese drivers licence today and after years of looking have pretty much given up on getting a VL wagon in Japan (for the time being). It is probably still going to be a little while before I can buy a car but I would like to have a goal to work towards. I have pretty much decided I want a Suzuki Cappuccino. However, I would really like people's opinions. My reasoning for a Cappuccino is: They seem like a fun car to own and not too hard on the eye - especially with the appropriate mods. They are a Kei car - this means cheaper insurance, road tolls, tax etc etc as well as some car parking spaces only allow Kei cars. Additionally there seems to be a bit of a Kei car scene over here. Cappuccinos are RWD, turbo and the majority are manual. The only other Kei car like this is the Autozam AZ-1 which is heavier, smaller inside, only available with an F6A engine and much more expensive than a Cappuccino. Cappuccinos seem relatively simple to work on, I will hopefully do most of my mods/maintenance. Has a cool roof set up (not as cool as a Copen's but Copens are FWD). Cappuccinos seem relatively cheap. Interior room seems acceptable - I read on the net about a 6'3" guy + racing helmet being ok to sit in them, albeit with an aftermarket seat and steering wheel. They have the option of the K6A engine which seems to me to be a much better engine than the F6A. Some of the other Kei cars which I have researched include the Honda Beat (rag top, NA and heavier than a Cappuccino) and the Suzuki Alto Works (AWD which I would prefer not to have for ease of maintenance and fun factor). Anyway I would really appreciate comments especially of those people who have had anything to do with Cappuccino's. Thanks.

Japanese Sticker Translation - Help
*LOACH* replied to Joshhr33's topic in General Automotive Discussion
It is about the pollen/dust filter fitted to your cars aircon/heater. It should be changed every year or after 12 000kms and was last changed about 2 years ago at 192 660kms. If you need it I can translate the rest of the text but it will take some time. PM me if this is the case. -
There Are No Grey Imports Anymore.

Sorry for the temporary hijack. Here are a few pics Josh, I don't have many pics with roof racks because it isn't my thing. -
Sounds like you had a great time, thanks for reviewing it Cowboy1600.

There Are No Grey Imports Anymore.
*LOACH* replied to joe2548's topic in General Automotive Discussion
On topic...hang on what was the topic again...just got all distracted by the beauty of SVL088....oh yeah imports. The 15 year rule, which allowed older imports into Australia with less restrictions and costs to comply, was dropped a few years ago. This has made a huge difference to what is being imported nowadays. -
So I Spun Out Again - Wtf Is Going On?
*LOACH* replied to tripsteady's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Terrible oil will cause damage to your engine regardless of how you drive it. Terrible tyres cause control of the car to be lost at a lower threshold. -

Tyre are consumable, other mods are considered to be more permanent. -
I absolutely agree, I would be much more interested in drifting if the drivers didn't treat the cars like disposable cameras. Especially as there aren't too many RWD turbo manual cars being made nowadays.

Inspecting Inside Engine
*LOACH* replied to VSPECII33R's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I have used borescopes a few times for internal inspections of aircraft engines and I reckon if you can get a good one (with video image instead of lens and a moveable head you should be able to get a fair amount of information about what is inside your engine through the sump plug and spark plug holes. The holes in aircraft engines specifically drilled for borescope inspections are often smaller than the spark plug holes on your Skyline. Might be worth renting a good borescope before you start ripping into the engine. -
If you are asking the question "Why buy a Skyline?" in the first place then it probably isn't the car for you. A car enthusiast buys a car because he/she feels passion for it. You overlook the negatives because of the way it makes you feel. I know the plastic trim on a VL wagon looks like it was thrown together by a blind monkey with no spacial awareness, I know that a VL wagon handles like a submarine tied to a cliff face and takes a whole bunch of work before it will handle anything like a sports car. Does that make me want another type of car, at all, ever to replace it.... hell no. No other car I have owned or driven makes me feel the way a VL wagon does. If you don't feel that way about a Skyline then keep looking. Alternatively you could just ignore everything I have said and buy one and then keep it or not depending on whether you like it or not. Hardly one of the most risk laden decisions you will make in your life.

Hi, Can someone please tell me, by looking at the ingredients list, if this has any bad stuff in it. Sorry it is so long. Thanks in advance.
