  1. That is gorgeous, just some subtle mods and very clean. Great job!
  2. Please don't. It is such a cool car you have there, there are plenty of guys with VN-VS Commodores rusting their rooves and bonnets, looks terrible IMHO. Why don't you a go at spraying it yourself. I reckon the pillars and roof done in a gloss black would look awesome, have a go with rattlecans - can't look worse than rusting it and besides which you can always try rusting it afterwards if you don't like the gloss black.
  3. Welcome to the forum and nice work on doing some research before you buy a Skyline, there is a ton of info on here and knowing it should really increase your chances of choosing a good one when the time comes. Good luck!
  4. You are right it is a production car - thanks. I went to the Nismo factory with another SAU member yesterday. Sadly I couldn't stay for long as I had to go to work but here are few photos from the showroom.
  5. Looks good, it's a turbo wagon so you gotta love that. I was just interested in seeing the Japanese plates behind the windsceen because it looks like my area of Tokyo but they are usually Shinagawa plated as I don't think there is a rego place closer than that. It was hard to make out from the picture though hence the request for a better picture.
  6. Nice! Enjoy the site and your new ride.
  7. Welcome to the forum, sad news that she has been dinged.
  8. Speaking of the number plate have you got a better pic of it?
  9. And more And that will do I think.
  10. More cars, no comments.
  11. I went to the Tokyo Motorshow and took these photos. As alsways sorry for the quality of them - one day I will get a DSLR and the skills to take advantage of it. The Nissan display was my favourite of the show, the wrap around screen an light show was awesome. The pictures of the retro datto I had seen on the net and indeed the photos I took made it look quite ordinary. In real life both the street and racing versions look impressive - hopefully they put it into production. I like the seating layout (as per the MacLaren F1) but the narrow/long front looks horrible. And this is why you get no proper GTR photos: Many manufacturers had two tandem seat concept cars on display - awesome idea, please put them into production. Because when you are hanging off a foot long shifter with heavily serated jaws you need to know precisely what torque you are applying??? Yokohama conecpt car - a bit plasticy but a great shape. Some hybrid drivetrain thingy. I just really like the photo. Although I don't like the front end profile of this Volvo concept car the rest of it was absolutely gorgeous. The Mazda stand was right next to the Volvo stand. So much love for the Volvos and so much medicocrity from Mazda - the world has gone wrong. It's a wagon, it goes really fast. Do I need to tell you how much I love this car? I really want a Le Mans car as a daily... New Jaguar F type - stunningly beautiful. Volkswagon concept car. Porsche GT3 Cup More photos to come
  12. we're ready to strike trained for the mission so believe the hype and sweat it
  13. to quit
  14. It's not a real Skyline unless the weight of barnacles exceeds the curb weight when manufactured.
  15. Hi and welcome to the forum. Don't worry about not being a Skyline owner, many of us aren't. 180sx's (under their various names) are great but having owned a CA18 180sx and currently owning an RB30 powered car I think you definitely made the right choice going with an RB. By the way, there is a thread for Folding@home here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/256306-foldinghome/
  16. Awesome engine. You only have to look at the 7 second SOHC VLs to see what the single cammer RB30 can achieve. Having said that the twin cam conversion still has a lot of benefits - for example more low down torque with the VCT running and a better flowing head when unmodified - of course the the 7 sec SOHC cars are no where near standard and as can be seen in the above video the rocker cover has been cut and shut to allow clearance for the much bigger valvetrain residing within. Because of poor maintenance practices and the location of the radiator on the VL the heads on the SOHCs were prone to cracking so if the head has to be changed why not do it with a twin cam head.
  17. You sold a Commodore wagon to buy a Skyline... and you are a Melbourner? We can never be friends. Only kidding mate, welcome to the forum. I hope you enjoy your new ride.
  18. What's a "Ford"?
  19. No worries
  20. The translation is of all words in the yellow circle is: Seat fittings spring washer x 4 flat washer x4 button cap bolt x4
  21. Welcome, cool avatar. It would be interesting to hear your thoughts on the Evo VS GTR when you have owned the GTR for a while.
  22. Welcome, congratulations on getting such a cool ride for your first car.
  23. Welcome, nice wagz. The wheels seem to suit it.
  24. Yep like liger says it's the shaken month. The Japanese writing underneath reads kokudokoutsuushou which is the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.
  25. Here is a quote from the CT forum. There are a bunch of guys on their using the 33 boxes for drag racing. "i have a wrecker spec box with a short shifter i only put oil in it because it was empty in the frame of mine its cheap lets break it then think about something different it did 4 years on the road running in the 11s @ 130ish mph at the track then another 2 years of drag only running 10s @ high 130mph with full slicks and 6800rpm two step launch and still all good. It has been through 2 blown clutches, 1 smashed centre bearing, 3 broken uni's, 1 pretzal tailshaft, 2 folded lower control arms and then 2 broken axles. I pulled it down thinking i should look at the damage NONE wasnt even fillings in the oil THEY ARE TUFF " Look at getting a Jim Berry clutch if you are worried about it failing. Twin plate should be under $1500. He will talk you through it and let you know the best clutch for your application.
