  1. Two awesome guys, last thing anyone wants to hear. My condolences to the families during this tragic time. Alex it's safe to say that you have all of our support during these tough times. RIP guys
  2. didn't need an answer, i wasn't being serious. but while i'm here I don't know anyone of that description.
  3. Debt collectors using the forums now???
  4. good ending I would take of the negative posts seeing as you got what you wanted.... after all it was only 3 weeks, it's not like it took months and months...
  5. is that the one with USW next to it? If so thats where we hold texi with all the epic skids. JOIN it in the events section. it's uber fun
  6. Threads always evolve Duncan and I wasn't replying to your thread I was replying to Owens, i'm sure he finds it interesting that someone else can notice different fuel in his car, I can easily tell if Shell fuel is in my car, even if somebody else has taken my car and put Shell fuel in it without me knowing. Anyway thats your experience with race cars, I only get the problem in the skyline out of any car I have ever filled up and used (that I can notice), some skylines react worse than others with shell, no body has worked out why but I am far from the only person who has noticed this issue and it happens in both series 1 and 2 rb25det's. and usually it's when a standard ECU is being used. That's all i've worked out from info in other threads.
  7. in my car yes, I find Caltex and Mobil work best for me, with United (ethanol ron98) and Bp 2nd best. Shell for my car is like pouring honey in it, and it doesn't matter which station it is. but in previous threads we have come to the conclusion that it depends where in the state and what petrol station you use can have an impact of fuel quality and ron rating. EG: a petrol station with high turnover is more likely to have fresher fuel with a better ron rating than a quiet petrol station. And some cars just behave differently to different brand fuel, even though there are only 2 or 3 oil refinereies in Australia. From other threads, Generally people don't notice much difference between caltex, mobil, united, bp fuel here in sydney in their skylines. but a stock or mildly tuned skyline turbo tends to not run as well with shell ron 98 (but not always). I paid close attention to the other threads because I could easily feel a big difference between shell fuel and other fuels in my particular skyline and wanted to know if anyone had noticed it in their cars aswell.
  8. yes $1.7million is practically double $900 000, but 1 000 000 euro is only about $1.4million AUD, that is very far from double of $900 000. I think you converted wrong.
  9. hit the nail on the head it probably doesn't do anything, no idea why anything else would be mounted there. disconnect it and see if anything changes.
  10. I don't think i'm right, but all i can think of is it could be something to do with the front numberplate lights???? Or the alarm siren?
  11. It is unlikely a us or middle eastern is collecting these cars though. A collector knows that the modern pontiac GTO only shares a badge in common with the originals, no history or pedigree. PS: I think the 69 pontiac GTO's are the bomb Edit: but who am I kidding, those arabs buy anything and everything. You probably need to own the oil fields just to find the amount of fuel to keep that engine ticking over.
  12. lol its nowhere near twice as much. But the point is that Ferrari has plenty more followers and collectors than holden. More of their customers are cashed up like crazy, they have a world wide audience where as Holden is only Australia and New Zealand. A base model Testarosa back then costs more than what a new base model monaro was worth new a few years ago. If your someone that belives in statistics or trends to guesstimate prices, the odds say that 900k is way too much for what it is. Especially since it is a recent car. Recent cars even if they are one off's should never go for that much. I would have thought this cars value wouldn't have been much more than $300k, but then over time it would reach $900k. There are one off holdens from the 60's and 70's that are fetching half a million dollars today, but thats after 40 or so years of appreciation. But as I said before these things sometimes just defy logic and if someone really wants one they will pay whatever they need to make the car theirs. But the chances of that car getting $900k back at the auctions are pretty low but not impossible. But does anybody know how the car came to be 900k? was it a bidding war or private sale by holden? It would be intersting to follow this car throughout the years as it changes owners and to see how it fares on the world stage price wise.
  13. It's obvious this guy loves his Australian cars, he had the pockets to fund his passion, it is a great shame to part with this, none of us can imagine what it feels like. And it doesn't matter if he was loosing his collection of Lambos or morris minnis, a colection of any sort would most probably consume a large chunk of his life and achievement. If I lost that collection i'd probably spend months in bed thinking all is lost. But for all we know he might have chosen to sacrifice the cars to save the rest of his business in the hope of buying them back at a later date???????
  14. Relax it was pure tongue and cheek, nothing ignorant in what I said, especially if your a Ford guy
  15. Hahahah birds yeah I get it now, I didn't notice it was some sort of special monaro and if it is one of a kind I guess it is worth heaps. But there is no way it will hit 900k at the auctions whenever it comes up, 900k was way too steep for any modern holden car, no matter if its one of a kind or just a rare car. I could justifly that money on a one of a kind original monaro, but not a modern one (well not for the next 30 years untill it reaches classic classification). One off's are meant to go up in value, I fear it has already been bought at the higher end of the spectrum (unless another couple of seriously cashed up collector find it and battle for it). Only reason I say this is because a couple of years ago Ferrari (who has a much bigger name and an even bigger history with more cashed up followers around the world) were selling some of their older stuff. There was a prototype of the famous Testarosa, nearly 30 years old now, one of the most famous cars ever produced (except for Herby), similar story to this monaro. the car sold for 1million Euro and it had world wide publicity, there was a larger pool of collectors with even bigger checkbooks on a car with world wide history with a brand at the pinacle of automotive achievement. This testarosa was faster, a one off development example to see if they could build it at that speed and spec for a price range they could meet. That model of the Testarosa failed because it became too expensive to mass produce. Long story short they dulled the car down alittle to save costs. SO that testarosa is pretty similar to this monaro on a one off build point of view. Thats why I think it's over priced by comparing it to another example a couple of years back. But I do understand that these things sometimes can not be estimated and if a bidding war occurs with people with the coin behind them to back it up who knows? This car could end up being one of the worlds most expensive street driveable modern day car??? And for the record I am far from a Holden fan, But I do like some of their 7 Litre engines because a good car is a good car for millions of reasons and it generally has nothing to do with the brand name.
  16. got ya I get it now, collectors car, I didn't read half the posts (which was obvious). But if he was spending that much on holdens, then now i understand why he suddenly has them all repossessed...
  17. been told the Atom can only be personal imports as it's too hard for ADR or something if that makes sense???
  18. Depends on the Finance company that owns the cars now. Besides an auction is an auction, if your looking for collectables or rare cars you have to search all the auctions every week. They pop up everywhere.
  19. your mate paid 900k for a Holden?
  20. And everybody has forgotten to metion the fact a good example of these things easily passes the 1 million AUD price range. I remeber watching an episode of foxtel about the History of Mercedes, this thing has been stuck in my head ever since. ANd aparently the ride and performance is better than the average 1980's car (so people have said)????? Either way they look awesome.
  21. i'm sure its been done...
  22. I wouldn't call it the best, Its right up there but we do not have it the best.
  23. only games I play are first person shooters on pc, I hate car games there stupid and unrealistic. And i'd only take an exotic to wakey if insurance covers it, not worth loosing half the cost of a house
