Mitsubishi Electric Car Just Landed.
Kujotk replied to Kujotk's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Jas25t i'm with you, although I haven't bought a diesel in OZ (other than a transit van) because it still is alittle harder to get fuel, petrol is still pretty cheap in OZ. But when i was in europe it was a different story, diesel is by far the better choice for driving through the alps, the price was much cheaper, less tax, fuel goes further ect... In over there I had use of an alfa brerra diesel, a seat hatch diesel of some sort (very similar to a golf), a seat minivan diesel and a honda civic (not a type R but that new shape of civic like the type R over here in OZ) in Italy and austria. Similar sized engines similar weights, the diesels absolutely slaughtered the petrol civic up the mountains, even the seat minivan ran rings around it going up steep hills. Only downside is desel cars tend to cost more than their small petrol engined equavalents -
I was just going through the Mitsubishi website and saw that the electric car is now about to be available, a couple of things are missleading about the launch of the vehicle. they say this... "Zero emissions Producing zero emissions, the i MiEV runs on electric power using a47kW motor and lithium-ion batteries. The i MiEV emits absolutely noCO2 while operating. Even with the CO2 emitted while creating theelectricity needed to charge the car, the total is only one-third ofthe emissions generated by a petrol-driven car." They go on about how its a zero emitions car everywhere in their media releases and the only time they say the truth that it does create carbon emissions is less than two sentences, even then they try to give the vibe it doesn't create carbon emissions. It doesn't matter if the car itself is creating the emissions or not, its the fuel that creates the emissions, if you want to be picky about it like mitsubishi is, then you could argue a truck doesn't create carbon emissions, its the burning of the diesel that does, so in effect anything can be a "zero emissions" vehicle. With the electric car in Australia coal is burned at an alarming rate to produce the electricity, Mitsubishi claims 1/3 the emissions is created to power their electric car than a petrol driven car, has anybody asked what car they are comparing it to? For all we know they could be comparing it to an SRT10 Dodge Viper. The car is 44kw, or about 35-40kw at the wheels, such little power compared to a VW golf that you would expect it to be 1/3 the carbon emissions anyway, its like putting a 300cc engine in a smart car and saying its the bees knees. I just think its a rort, and some internet releases from drive.com ect... are saying the car will come to Aust on road costs from $40 000!!! Will people be smart enough to realise its a shit product being sold deceptively like some people realised that there are allot of cars that are more friendly to the environment like a 1.6 litre VW golf petrol that produces less C02 emissions than the toyota prius hybrid??? The electric car will be great for the environment if electricity comes from a means of not throwing massive amounts of C02 into the air, untill then the electric car is a fail. PS: i'm not against the electric car, its much easier for an electric car to go faster than a petrol one anyway, especially since the torque delivery of an electric car is always instant where as combustion engines take some time and higher revs to reach full tourque. ENd rant (for now)

don't pay a premium price for it if it isn't in premium condition, and if you have any doubts of it only having 20k on it then assume your gut instinct is right. Its possible it is genuwine, but in reality it is very unlikely. Basically it should be in almost new condition inside and out, mechanical wise should be quitest r33 around. Ignore the milage while you test drive it, km are irrelevant if everything is going well. And lets face it, it's and r33 gtr, not a Mclaren F1 or an F40 that are renowned for having low km's because they are more of a collectors car than an actual car you drive around in often. Hope it is as good as the km's suggest it should be

http://www.usedcartrader.co.uk/vehicles/ov...355--1489201515 F355's are starting @ 10 000GBP in the UK ( too bad their mr2 replicas but look good replicas lol), but 30 000 pounds will get you a decent F355, they range to a top of about 60 000 pounds. Depends on condition ect... but whats the going price here? $130-$220k, the prices in Australia are a joke. PS: a private import of any car will be harder to sell unless the price is attractive. A new f430 costs here from $600-$800k depending on extras + onroad costs.... Same car bought brand new in the UK is 180 000 british pounds which = $300k Australian. Our 2nd hand 2005 model f430's don't sell for under $300k here. I was going to buy a 360 here in OZ ($200k price tag here, or a $80-$90k Aud equivalent over there), but i'm moving to Austria/Germany at the end of 2011, thought i'd wait and actually save the money to buy property in Europe and use the car over there where they can actually be used properly without getting damaged by stupid potholes on sydney roads, not get speeding fines (planning to move to Innsbruck which is only 25 minutes from munichs autobahns). Also the price of parts are cheap as chips there, MAserati sydney quoted me $8500 for a new throttle body, I bought a genuwine throttle body from the UK, that sourced it from Italy for $2000 including the cost of air freight. I still find it dessapointing by GM and Holden when you can buy a brand new CV8 Monaro cheaper in Europe than you can here in Australia and the cars are made here. This is why so many people and companies have made money importing cars, but importing cheap r32's and r33's arnt where the profits are, the profit is in the high end market -
ahh I misread it, I read it as 1500/month for 33 months, instead of weeks.... I was wrong. Still $180k for a car that didn't cost that much more to buy brand new in the colours and extras you want? Its way over priced dude. I know that Rick Damelian held his 2009 ADM GTR for 4 motnhs advertised @ $159 000 + transfers ect... It sat there for ages then they took $155 000 drive away transfers included. If you need the money soon I think its best you get what you can for it now and cut your losses, expensive cars arn't selling too good these days.

YUp i'm with just car, been with them for a few years now, no negative driving history...
-
Dealers have to make money aswell, and the % profit is pretty low compared to other dealers. Damelian makes anywhere up to $50k profit on a $170k Ferrari... $20k on a merc selling at $130k
-
either way there are cars from $159000 drive away without negotiating and accept trade ins, only prob is they have double the milage (4000km instead of 2000). http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/demo/d...2&silo=1011
-
is everyones summs out of whack because I got a much higher value than $170k when you add in the risidual, i got just under 200K + stamp duty ect...
-
was it a series 2? I need parts lol
-
$5k??? My comp is $1300 and i'm 23 year old male and my car is much further away from stock than yours, it may be an r33 gtst series 2, but its still covered for $18k, the bloody thing doesn't get stolen

No you can't lol... He paid $50k for a temperamental car that is a UK import with high Milage???? Your friend got ripped off big time... I'd pay that money for an Aussie delivered one, not a grey import one... Last thing you should do is buy a UK import 4 seater, for starters they are cheap as shit over here in Australia already (for ferrari prices i mean), 2nd is they don't sell because they are not sought after, and last of all by looking at your other posts you have put up on the subject, I wouldn't believe a single word you say, you have no idea what your on about... -
if its not loud and its not boosting you are more likely not to have any issues, ive been running around with these bolt onns and higher boost ect... for 2 years no probs with defects, that being said you can go your whole life not getting defected, or you can get don in the first day of driving the car.... Oh and a tip, once it's been defected, change the number plate right after you get it cleared, theres stories on here if you use the search function to find out why...
-
insurance is high on imports, but really they are also one of the most stollen cars so full comp insurance FTW!!!!
-
Summed up excellent
-
actually i'm wrong, i forgot about tunehouse, they the only place within like 15km or more radius of you that is decent, but from what ive heard there are just as many positive feedback as there are negative feedback, Brookvale and unigroup tend to have only positive feedback and ive never heard anything negative about either at all...

I had something similar to this and it is posted in the wastelands aswell, but the dyk was the passenger, aparently after work (12.30am) a couple years ago they saw me do an unsafe lane change at the dead of night from a good 700-1000meters from the otherside of the road somehow, they must have had infrared or something going on that night lol, i somehow cut off someone who cut me off???? go figure. Anyway i was on p's at the time, the guy came to my window and checked me out, actually liked the car and he had one similar aswell he recons lol. He was all cool about it, but the woman (very short hair cut, no bra, fat and stumpy with a yobbo mans voice) started picking on me for tyres nearly used (by the way car was just imported and registered with 4 brand new tyres only 3 weeks earlier, even had some of the fur left on the rear tyres), Then she started picking on me for the p plate that was exactly half covered by the numberplate, so you could see the whole "P" but the white part on one side was covered. She would have given me the fine if it was just her, the guy who was the most decent bloke i have ever met spoke to her in private and i assume he actually got me out of the fine (which wasn't valid anyway but atleast stopped me from wasteing time in court). I wonder if it was the same copper JEZ, this happened near carlingford though...

theres nothing really near alexandria whos got a name for skylines so you'll have to travel if you want it done by someone who isn't learning on your car. I recomend both Envy and Unigroup, envy is my choice if i had to choose, and nowhere in sydney is 3 hours drive away from anywhere in sydney even in peak hour lol. Took my car to unigroup and he doesn't try and sell you everything under the sun when you service with him, he gives his advice and his 2cents worth, but he doesnt pressure you if its not something that doesn't have to be done if you understand what i'm trying to say??? Basically he doesn't try to upsell you and change things "incase" they were to break in the future unless there is reason behind it.

beautiful eric, i'll keep checking and waiting for when you put up my wet lap when i somehow made smoke in 2 cm of water sitting on the track
-
This post is so beautiful, atleast i'm not the only one who thinks the way you do lol.

Fly by Wire techbnology is the worst invention in the world, the stupid car companies are not using "contactless" throttle bodies, basically this means that anywhere after 60 000km, your car could go into a limp mode on a bizzy highway or while going through a roundabout.... limp mode (all cars have one to some extent) means the car is electronically limmited so the damge the computer picks up cannot get worse by driving the car too hard or fast. Some cars like my euro trash are limmited to 2000rpm when this lappens, its not a fun feeling when it goes in limp as your darting across a peak hour round about, i concider myself a good driver who thinks fast, can you imagine some of these other people on this earth trying to get out of a hairy situation??? as mentioned previously i guess this is darwins theory again so not all bad lol. in the volvo's their limp mode when the fly by wire electronic throttle body wares out is it can be limmited to 2000rpm, or it can completely loose power all together and accidents have occoured because of it. electronic throttle bodies are great when they work, they utilise things like esp and all that boring but safe stuff, but when they fail it is more dangerous than a car that doesn't have esp....

if you have the room aswell....

a great example of this was "highway Patrol" tv series that was on a few nights ago, A couple of guys in melbourne were pulled over because the car had damage to the front, lady cop thought she'd just make sure it would be safe to drive it if it got dark, basically she was about to give the guys a warning that if it gets dark and the light doesn't work, they could get a fine. Long story short these 2 guys gave her lip and she was on a mission, she pulled out her yellow sticker and searched the 1985 toyota carrola for safety, the headlight was fine, but because of their attitudes and one guy demanding why they got pulled over, she found that a seatbelt tensioner was worn out (defectable) rear vision mirror was not on the car (defectable again). If they hadn't been smart she would have let them go with just some friendly advise saying that they could get a fine if driving at night, instead they copped it up the ass for nothing
