Thanks Terry. Well car looks good, it has been garaged and usual rust spots are clean so thats good. I will take your advice with the magnet and the screw driver. As for the crabbing It looks be fine we followed it didn't look unusual, would it be doing it at low speed and high speed? Wheels look fine also, then again it probably was replaced.

Well as mentioned It was put on a hoist at a work shop who told me that it was not structural mearly cosmetic. So thats good.

Sill panels are good your usual minor surface rust on the ends of the lips on them from a speed bump or what not but the rails and sill panels are all good.

Thats what I told my brother. Hes pretty fussy but, If you look in the right light at the line around the wheel it has been a little lost in some places probably because the panel beater couldnt get it perfect when it was beaten out with the bog. If the job has been done properly I think is the major aspect..

Hey guys been helping my brother out with finding a clean R32 GTR. He wants to build one so we are looking for a good base to start from. As some of you would know this is not an easy task. Have looked at around 12-13 so far in about 8 months...Anyway, long story short we have found a black one that is completely imaculate. No rust at all. Engine wise, interior and body wise... its perfect. Well almost, the only thing is that the car has been involved in what looks to be a minor accident (passenger side rear quarter)The owner has kindly allowed us to put it on a hoist and upon doing so we saw that there is no damage to the chassis rails but there is a slight crisp in the wheel arch which shows that there has been some minor panel beating in the arch itself and it looks as though the guard lip has a little bog on it..The dilehma we have is whether to keep looking or to buy. What do you all think? From experience with R32 GTR's their are many many more bad examples than good ones. The damage is cosmetic not structural and otherwise the car is perfect... 95,000 genuine kms with log books, receipts from japan and Australia. Some advice would be great Ross

Hey guys. My cars getting older and I just want to look into some ways of safe guarding it against rust. Better to be safe than sorry. Has anyone heard of ERPS (http://www.erps.com.au)? Looks to be an intresting way of preventing rust from occuring... What do you guys think or reccomend? Ross

Most 94 GTR will not have side intrusion bars. I have some documented information which confirms that they are lighter. Even If you do some more research though you will see that. When I get a chance I will post the PDF up. As for the Oil coolers. I have seen them first hand so its not word of mouth or anything I could probably get a picture of one, as my friend has one but I cant be bothered. Each to their own really not much of a debate on the topic. I went for an 1989 as it is a better built car with higher quality materials. The VSPEC/VSPEC II are no doubt a good model but if you are going to modify it I would say an early model is a better choice IMO

Looking at doing an oil change in my R32 GTR shortly, any reccomendations? Thanks

Yer no intrusion bars or indicators which is a bonus too. Car was purchased from VIC. When I access to some decent pics I will throw them up

"Early R32, weighing in at 1430kg, over 100kg less than R33/34 and still 50kg lighter than the supposedly lightweight "mass production" 91.5+ R32:s. The last of the "true" racing GTR:s, later homologation models have been and are sold under the NISMO brand." Thats just a direct quote, but there are other components to the car which if you do some research you will find out, such as higher quality plastic components being used, stronger engines etc. During 89 they did alot of experimenting as well some cars came with different parts to others for example some came with standard oil coolers etc. Its a little hard to find information on this but If you dig you will find the information. Basically the 1989 models are a stronger built car, before nissan decided to cheapen up a little on parts and start to mass produce the heavily demanded car.

Well after about 8 months of solid searching and people emailing me telling me their cars are in amazingly good condition, only to drive 1 and half hours to ballarat to see one that was probably the worst one I saw with rails that where severely damaged and a fresh coat of paint over rust on the rear guards with no treatment at all!! The owners selling point was the number plates "WMD" "Weapon of Mass Destruction" ........I finally found the early 89 model which as some would know is a bit more favorable than the later models for various reasons. 80,000 documented kms. Previous owner had it for 5 years and put just under 1500 kms on it. Very original car down to the exhaust.. Amazing condition! Best buy I have ever made. As for pics look at the gunmetal R32 GTR on Wikipedia pretty much identical. To be honest to all those looking and following my thread. If you want a clean one and by clean I mean original paint, straight body, no rust, low kms etc. You would seriously struggle getting change out of 25,000-30,000 in Japan. Locally odds are it will be a little cheaper but If I had to spend the time and effort looking locally I would rather pay an extra couple of grand and import (too much rubbish here) If you have the time and patience though, nothing beats inspecting a car yourself
