  6. @ 5000 RPM the cam solenoid is switched on, adjusting the valve timing, (only if the engine is under load though, wont do it just revving it). It also switches on the stock bleed valve (solenoid) in the waste gate actuator line to bleed some pressure off, (back into the low pressure side of your intake). The waste gate spring itself will limit boost top about 5 PSI, but bleeding some pressure off from the waste gate line gives you a little more boost (@5000 rpm). The amount of bleed is controlled by the size of the orificew in the solenoid.
  7. retarding ignition timing by the crank angle sensor also retards injection timing (not overly good if your after economy). If the knock sensors dont retard it enough to stop any damage occuring you will hear it pinging, back off. Ideally, if PULP isnt available then use an octane booster, but keep in mind it only raises the octane rating a very small amount.
  8. sounds like an air leak, manifold gasket maybe, seen one the other day on a 32, blew out about 1/2 inch of gasket...

  11. temps after the intercooler would be interesting......... you would finf that uner boost they would be hotter than under bonnet temps..

  14. ok, for those that are interersted, i done some tests today, cam solenoid is powered from 1200 rpm to 5000rpm, providing load/map pressure is 50 kpa or more absolute... which means it only has to be under slight load. Just revving the engine wont wont activate it at all.

  16. im running a motec m48 with an ignition expander on my series 1 Auto r33, no problems at all...
  17. Any gurus here can tell me a few things about the variable intake cam.. Such as, what rpm is the solenoid turned on, is it pulsed or simply on/off and is the timing adjusted on rpm only or rpm/load... Thanks

  23. Yeah, i realize that, i was making a point about the claimed time of 59.984. my best was 1:12 in the pennzoil nissan, not even in the running lol
