  1. I think Martin hit the nail on the head there. Officer Neil can only give us advice on suspect defects, not the full run of ADR's applied to automotive manufacture and modification. Obviously a few people have forgotten why Nene and Ruby went to have a meeting with officer Neil, it wasn't to make us a protected species, but more to get some clarification on a few points and make him aware of us as a club of sorts, and not the Hoon name we have been labled with so many times. I say a big thanks to Nene and to Officer Neil for keeping the correspondence going, especially after the happenings last weekend.
  2. Waiting on my mate to send the pics then i'll post them up, shocked the hell out of me seeing the state of the track
  3. Kellie this sounds like a great idea, bout time someone got the ball rolling! I think SAUSA is the best way to go, considering the resources at hand. Too bad i wont be able to make the meeting next wednesday, had a bit to do with CCCSA (Chrysler Car Club of SA) a fewe years back but if i can help out in any way i will
  4. Sounds like an idea Damo. My mate said there was no security or anything. Told him to claim squatters rights on the place
  5. Well a good source let me know today that the suposed track re-surfacing of AIR was a load of crap. Seems he managed to do a site inspection of sorts only to be confronted by weeds growing through the cracks in the tracks surface.
  6. Thats excellent to hear Ruby! Hopefully the others get there cash back too.
  7. Heard about the mitsi test track years back before AIR closed, main thing was it was too far away and would have cost too much to set up as a drag strip. but would be interesting to find out if and who its actually owned by now.
  8. Not much chance with AIR Pete, not with what i heard today
  9. Saw a really nice seriesIII silver 33 GTR today around 5:00pm in Salisbury, plates were GTR-033. And a maroon Cefiro turning off Bridge rd around 6:30pm
  10. Pete you should've had yours there, man you would have taken top bike easily
  11. Yeah Chad is right, a 1/4 mile strip equal 1/2-3/4 mile once you factor in run off area and stagging area. heard from a really reliable source with links to the EPA that AIR is pretty much a no go, mainly due to Mr. Jane buying contaminated fill to build the mounds. Yep still full of asbestos! But its great to see everyone raising some great and valid point in here. And thanks Peter, just thought it would help take the heat of you and Andrew after the last few days.
  12. Dont know if i'll be making it this week, think im working friday. damn gmh couldn't organise a root in a brothel!
  13. Damn lucky there Chad
  14. Yeah i had about 6 cop cars with in sight and sound of my car today, not one sigle hassle. I'd say someones dad was having a lend of him!
  15. A majority of Adelaides roads are in a third world condition, and why, because rather than the councils doing it properly by digging the whole section out and re filling and compacting they just do hundreds of little patch up jobs. Quick bandaid on a big problem. My old boy has been in earthmoving for 40 odd years and is disgusted by the condition of the roads.
  16. Unfortunateley the greater public like to link the two together, but i do agree fully with your statement. The idea was not so much to lobby but to just give the forum users a thread to put there thoughts in. But thats exactlty the type of input im after Djr81
  17. Thanks for the input Ruby, just edited it then
  18. Yeah pretty much every friday night around 7, more just to catch up and have a chat or sort out entry forms for up coming events. Also a good place to pick stuff up bought off the forum too
  19. After reading Pete's post in the Wasteland i thought i'd put my head on the chopping block and kick this one off. The events of the past weekend have again raised the issue of Adelaide not having a 1/4 mile drag strip in useable condition, thus being heavily linked by those on this forum and other motorsport based forums has had the effect of more hoons on the road. We all know AIR is just sitting there idle as a wasteland at the moment, and there has been rumours for the last few years of a new facility being built at Osborne. So besides Mallala and the country 1/8 mile tracks SA has nothing at the moment. As i was involved in drag racing before AIR was closed down, i can say that yes it does get some of the hoon element off the roads, but does not cure the whole problem. There will always be those with 'the monkey see, monkey do' attitude and will not enter there cars to compete, but will happily race on Pt. Wakefield road on the way home. I opened this thread as a poll and discussion point, not a thread to cause arguments. And also the help keep related items out of the thread created to respect Minh's passing.
  20. Well after the happenings of the weekend i was worried about being out and about today. Hardly an import on the roads and hardly any cops either. Im guessing maybe having a sedan is a bit of a blessing, but thinking a daily might be a wise choice
  21. Dont forget that idea we came up with for the next show Steve!
  22. On an off chance give Shane (RBWARE) a Pm, im sure he'd put his white 32 GTR in.
  23. Pete and Andrew i would hate to have been you guys today! Really looks like the mods had their work cut out for them, almost time for a new keyboard maybe
  24. Give Darren Lewis a buzz, built a 550hp 360ci for us a few years back.
  25. I cant understand how this has gone from a thread to show respect to Minh and his family to a political banter about drag strips and hoon drivers. Yes the circumstances do not affect us import drivers in a good way, but put that behind you all for know and just show some respect for Minh and his family and also Ricardo, his passengers and their families.
