  1. My car still lives!!! But not as a drag GTR anymore - if AIR ever got their act together it would have been great. Anyway, after all these years we have detuned the GTR & turned it back into a more useable circuit car & will be making its debut at time attack shortly. I have been having fun in my other street R33 all this time, but cant wait to get out to Mallala & try my hand at circuit instead.
  2. I'm bringing these. Hope the weather is better than this weekend!
  3. That is the coolest mod list I have seen bar none. I have been modding my cars for years, but this takes the cake. Awesome machine. Cant wait to see it flying. Fantastic photos. Well done guys. SlipR35...... you are one sick unit. Lets go up in the hills soon.
  4. I no longer require my single car garage & am selling it to build a bigger one. It is steel frame with painted zinc sides & roof with a large panel lift up door & a personal access door on the side. It is approx 8m long & 3.5m wide. Buyer to remove from Property (north east of city) $350
  5. PM Fungoolie. He knows all about that phone/gps gear.
  6. Yeah, that guy's letter in the August issue (Porshe choice) got me fired up & thought I would say something! They always cut down the text though & made it read a bit nicer than what I put down - haha. I suppose the response was that they printed it (my 2nd time) Its a shame Willall couldnt get the Silver R35 with the Turbo upgrade in that shootout - that would have been quite interesting. Nice body parts & all the internal goodies as well. Yes it was a good article. Motor have been doing lots of "tuner" articles over the last few years & it is the only magazine I buy regularly. I agree about the launch - whats the point in putting it in but saying dont go for it? Surely one or two full launches wont hurt it ( ah hem.. I have done a few with my full JDM launch control with no problems)
  7. At the Tolis track day I went to a while back they were allowed 25 cars, but maybe that day had a different price structure. I checked out my race GTR today & should all be ready for the day. Sorry Martin I should have mentioned it to you earlier.
  8. Yeah, I spoke to Tristan he seemed pretty cool. I remember going on an GSR/EVO club cruise years ago when I had that EVOVII (the yellow one with carbon bonnet that was on the cover of SPEED mag). I didnt know anyone there & think it was the only actual EVO on the night (mainly lancers & mirages etc) no one even came up to talk to me at the start & when they did later it was to fine me $2 for leaving the cruise behind because they were all to bloody slow! That was my first & last foray into the "car club" scene. Tristan wasnt around then & said those crusty 10km under the speed limit cruises are a thing of the past - phew. Yep, cant wait for both days - hope the weather is good.
  9. The R35 is quite heavy & you really notice the difference with a passenger especially on the track. I dont believe insurance will allow passenger rides on the track on these days. Race car only has one seat so unless someone wants to occy strap themselves onto a milkcrate I dont think that will be a goer either!!!
  10. I have only been to a couple of private track days - circuit racing is all a bit new to me as I have been Drag racing for years (or enjoying our Adelaide Hills!). The ones I went on had 25 cars & went out in groups of 5 or 6 cars for 5 laps or so. I had about 6 or 7 sessions over the day & let the car cool for almost an hour between goes. Even with a warm up & cool down lap it you go more than 4-5 hot laps in most street cars you will start melting your tyres & brakes & if you go flat out for 20 mins or more you might find thats all you get for the whole day because you have stuffed your car!!! With only 20 cars there will be plenty of time for everyone to have lots of turns. By mid afternoon there will probably only be a couple of cars on the track at one time because it is inevitable that we wont all be able to keep going all day. I have lots to learn & need to get as much practice as I can out there so it will be good to do it with a bunch of other skylines rather then a pack of porsches sticking their noses up at me! I have taken the plunge & entered the Time Attack day on Mon 5th (even though my car is still fresh & unsorted) so that will be interesting........the 1st time I took it out it melted the carbon brakes off after only 2 laps (were designed for drag not circuit) & a couple of times I was coming at the hairpin at nearly 200kmhr with no pedal at all, my race GTR does not have a handbrake so sideways was the only answer!!! Lucky I kept it on the track both times but now we have put some proper brakes on it so at least on my 2nd time out I might be able to do more than 2 laps without fade. The time attack day only lets us do 1 flying lap at a time will be different to practice day. Hope I dont make a fool of myself in front of all those other experienced drivers there, but it is all for fun & good practice so what the hey!
  11. Do 18" Wheels fit over the R35 Brakes? My track car (an R33 GTR) has 18" x 9.5 Rays RE30s but I dont think they are wide enough for the rear & didnt think they would clear the brakes.
  12. Thats excellent advice Martin. It is impressive how many of the standard parts on the R35 GTR can not be improved on by much. I have always hated buying a new car & having to rip the whole exhaust system off & chuck it in the bin. At least with your midpipe it is a quick & easy mod & you get a great power/sound improvement without having to change the rest at huge expense. That money saved can then be put towards upgraded turbos instead!
  13. Full amount paid. Planning on bringing both GTRs. Will race R33 but if it plays up (still lots to sort out) then will do a few laps with R35 if thats OK.
  14. Put me down, I should be able to get the day off. If my R33 GTR not sorted (still playing with brakes) I might bring my R35. I work most weekends so Monday could be good.
  15. I did not get to go far in this car but it did not feel much different from the bottom end. The new ball bearing core spools up faster than the std plain bearing & this car has aftermarket dumps that replace the primary cats so less back pressure. To really tell the difference I would have to drive this one & then mine back to back but considering how new this car all is I dont see that happening & I wouldn't expect to. Going for a ride in it will be fun enough.
  16. So if the average rwkw on a std R35 GTR is 270-290 then we could expect about 380-400 rwkw & a similar increase in torque to nearly 800nm?
  17. This owner could have bought a 911 or a Lambo etc, but he chose to go sick on a new R35 GTR. Good on him. I went for a run in this car yesterday & it is awesome. Definate improvement over my Std R35. Will look forward to going out in the country where we can stretch its legs a bit more. Hmmm... these new turbos are looking good.
  18. See R35 Development thread. $25000 would be a down payment on all that carbon!!! I would love to paint my R35 but $10000 on a paintjob that makes my car worth $10000 less is a bit of a bitter pill. Or you could just spend the $25000 on a nice R32 GTR to thrash to the shops & keep the kays down on the R35!
  19. I had another look at the GTR yesterday. All the carbon looks amazing. Rear parcel shelf, bootlid & spoiler, bonnet/vents, engine bay, gearshift paddles, even new sport steering wheel. This Guy is the CARBON KING of South Australia!!! Very cool car. Looking forward to hearing it under full noise out at the track. More photos Martin.........and maybe some dyno sheets? Love to see the comparison to stock setup.
  20. I would like to enter this day. Sounds like fun.
  21. And a sick camera it is too Slip.
  22. I am cool with that too. Same please.
  23. A few more "standard" GTRs waiting for modification.
  24. This GTR sounds tough & looks amazing in the flesh. Will be a devastating track weapon.
  25. Good. Perhaps I will get them to come out & time me next time!
