  1. Well it's still the same manual 6 speed gearbox & clutch as the std model, but the clutch is activated by an electrohydraulic system that operates at 85 bar. When you pull the paddles up or down it disengages/changes/engages for you at a speed of 80 milliseconds. It even automatically blips the throttle on down shifts. There are 5 different auto settings (no paddles required) & 6 manual settings. It has hill gradient settings, launch control, shift lights etc, & is cutting edge technology. It is not a tiptronic box which uses a torque convertor. It is a manual, just without a clutch pedal.Takes a little getting used to, but once driven for an hour or so becomes second nature. If you get a chance take one for a spin - it's pretty cool. S of S - purple not really my colour & I find the E36 a bit small. They are a nice car, but the E46 is a big leap in technology.
  2. goggo mobile! Nah BMW E46 M3 SMG - Maybe.
  3. Yes, the Cedia is the base model, but the EVO7 has a thinner roof, thinner front & rear glass, much more spot welding in the body & suspenion support areas, Aluminium wider guards& bonnet, different rear quarters, alloy suspension arms, different tail & headlights, grill, rear wing, totally different dash & interior, + all the obvious driveline differences. It is a very different car to the Cedia. Also, I do not believe that the EVO can launch as well as the GTR - just my opinion after doing it a number of times back to back with my cars. As far as this EVO vs GTR argument goes - I would love to have a Gemballa GTR EVO. It's a Porsche tuned by Gemballa Germany - has 880hp, 850Nm, & holds the current Nur/ring lap record for a street rego car.Fully sick. Interesting they called it a GTR EVO !!!! A more 'normal' one is the GTR 600 which is based on the 996 Turbo - has 630hp. So if you want to add a GTR of a different kind to your collection checkout www.gemballa.com

  5. Right. Special for one day only - $79,999.00 !!!
  6. Haven't seen that yet. Was ages ago those photos were taken. My favourite thing to beat used to be a ford - when I was a Holden head. But now I hunt for WRX's. Gotta have a pet hate - & subes are mine.
  7. actually you cant get an 'aust delivered' EVO VII. The last aussie batch were the 6.5 Makinen versions. As far as I know there are only a few 'complied' EVO VII imports in aust - so they are not detuned & are much rarer. I agree with the $50K R33 then spend $50k. And if you could stop there that would be great.Unfortunately it doesn't happen & you end up with a troppo GTR like mine. An EVO7 doesn't need $20K spent on it - they are great as they are. On an R34, $20K is nothing - barely does stage 1. Mine has Apexi, Exhaust & front pipe, Suspension, wheels, short shifter, twin plate clutch, stereo, alarm, oil cooler, catch can, etc.Goodbye $20K.
  8. Well done guys. (they only just got it fixed in time, after the hillclimb accident)
  9. I'm sad to hear it as well. You are one of the guys that encouraged me to join the forum in the first place! I will also be dissappointed for you when you do sell the car - but I understand that family & responsibilities have to come before cars. We will miss you so dont be to much of a stranger OK.
  10. They are both great cars & both for slightly different purposes. I agree the 4G63 is an excellent engine & the EVO is a very well balanced car.Ultimately you have both of them instead of one or the other. I do think that the EVOs are more fragile than GTRs, & with my particular driving style, I think the EVO would break before the GTR. It has been a hard decision, but that is why I am selling the EVO & keeping the GTR. BTW - in stock form they quote 13.8 for the EVO, & 13.1 for the R34. I raced a totally stock R34 GTR the other day & it did do 13.1, the EVO ran 13.4 but has exhaust/computer. My Blue R34 has exhaust/computer & runs 12.1. So in std form the EVO7 IS slower for the 400m. From the 4 door, turbo 4cyl, 4WD cars available - the EVO is king. From the 2 door, turbo 6cyl, 4WD cars available - the GTR is king. From the 2 door, V12, RWD cars available - the 550 Maranello rules the world - imagine a turbo one!!!!! There is ALWAYS someone badder or faster out there - thats why these comparison discussions are limited to peoples personal preferences, & don't actually end up with a solid verdict.
  11. BTW - has your mate actually got an EVO? If not, whats his point? He is comparing the top spec Mitsi, to the base spec Nissan! comparing apples with apples - GTRs crap all over EVOs & I should know!!! Remember a base spec lancer is a POS!
  12. Well EVOs are pretty cool cars.My VII is std with exhaust/ECU & ran a 13.4 @ 105. It does handle pretty well, but does feel like a gokart compared to the Skylines. It is an $80,000 car & it does drive like it, but I think for 1/2 the money, a GTSt is almost as powerful, handles almost as well, does look much better, & is a much nicer car to cruise in than the EVO.I do like the 7, but am not a fan of the previous models. For someone who does a few hillclimbs or rallies, & needs a 4dr sedan, then the EVO is the ultimate. But for normal street cruising & the odd drag off the lights I think the GTSt skylines are awesomes cars & great value. If you get a chance - drive an EVO hard & you will be impressed, but it will make you realise how nice your skyline is. BTW - my 7 is for sale.
  13. Well I got on there & sorted 'em out. Of course, I am one of them as well, but I need a tow car & the carbon fibre diffuser under the R34 gets in the way of the towbar!!! We will have to watch out when they all start throwing big turbos on them though - seems all the dyno comp guys are running turbo injected V8s. At least when it gets twisty we'll be gone.
  14. Not yet. Might still be a few months. No rush for it though, as I have some more important business issues to look after first.

Cool. I saw a run of Keir's recently from the finish line & it looked like I was in Japan or something - awesome to see coming towards you. anyway - back to the auto Salon Subject - As far as I am concerned putting cars into shows is a major pain in the ass, but I would be willing to put in Drift6 (R33) & 34VSPEC if we had a properly organised stand to promote the forum - there are lots of nice skylines that have never even heard of this forum & therefore never come on cruises etc. We would have to sort out exactly which cars to put in & organise a roster to tell people about this 'unoffical club' or just put www.skylinesaustralia.com stickers on each car. I think that single cars are lots cheaper than having a group stand, but maybe someone could talk to the organisers & explain that this is a non-profit venture & can we put a group of single entry cars together on one stand. My race car will not be ready in time - but I have 2 other nice GTRs that would look good on the stand.I am not interested in trying to organise this myself, but if someone else wants to take the baton & run with it, then I will help by supplying 2 killer GTRs(& maybe the EVO7)

Yeah, Lambos are amazing, but a bit over the top for me.I would still like to drive one if I got the chance though. A 550 Maranello is the top of the line V12 Ferrari. It's a front engine/rear wheel drive machine that does over 300kmhr & they cost over $500,000. A Raptor is a 4 wheel motorbike made by Yamaha. They are 660cc 4 strokes & are totally sick for off road.I have ridden a Banshee which is a 350cc 2 stroke but nearly killed myself & would prefer the bigger (but more controllable) Raptor. A Malabu Sunsetter is a big ski-boat.Takes 10 passengers, has injected 350 chev, stereo, & everything that opens & shuts. They are the official tournament tow boats in USA (they use the smaller Response model) - but the Sunsetter would be just the ticket for cruising past Sturt Reserve in style. The engine is out for a complete rebuild(on the new R33 - Drift6) so will be a while till ready - will be a real torque monster with the new single Turbo setup. There was a problem with the balancer, & when removed it damaged the crank - so I am starting from scratch with a new block/crank/pistons/rings/bearings etc etc. Should make boost by 3000rpm & still have around 450rwkw, so will be a good street car It is interesting how quickly things have changed in GTR circles in Adelaide. I remember when no-one had 400rwkw & we all thought it was huge when Danny/Doug/Keir started pumping out over 400rwkw - 10.8 was the fastest GTR in town only 2 years ago! then Keir hit the 9s. Then 9.51. My car was supposed to run a 9.9, & now is doing 9.45!!! Now Keir has a 9.38 under his belt. Keir has T67s now & I heard that he made 600rwkw recently !!!!! Thats 800hp at the wheels! Unbelievable - but true! When is this madness going to stop. Not for a while I reckon. My new setup (when it's ready) should hopefully get close to those numbers, & I think both myself & Keir have flat nines firmly in our sights. If we can run 9.0s we will both be in the top 10 on street tyres in the world.Reece is already in the world top 10 for Pro GTRs on slicks. I think that us 'roundeyes' have come a long way over the last couple of years.

I thought last year was a bit lacking for performance cars, mainly big wings, over the top subes etc. Was plenty of nice chicks though. thats an interesting question Hippy. Every month I get unique cars & dream on about the following :- 996 Porshe Turbo. ( for the hills) 550 Maranello. (for touring) Maserati Spyder. (for rundle street) Ferrari 355. (for going to the video shop) Yamaha Raptor. (for the paddock) Malibu Sunsetter. (for the river) A bigger garage - to fit them all in, 'cause my GTRs are going nowhere. The cars I have now ARE my dream come true, & I dont take them for granted. What I would love to see is R33 Race GTR - 8 seconds @ 160 mph R33 Street GTR - 10 seconds/320kmhr Vmax R34 Hills GTR - 11 seconds. AND - world peace.

Whoa!!@! calm down Timmmayyy. there is no way dude. R34s are killer & look fully sik re! R31s are ... well... R31s. No offence, but you are dreamin. Of course - considering you could have ten or so R31s for the price of an R34, they are extremely good value, so no-one is knocking them. BTW - I didn't know you wore stockings!!!!!!

Yep, have an appointment today - right after my penile extention. Then I'm getting pink & purple poka dots put all over the EVO & massive lightning bolt stickers & nismo/apexi/HKS stickers all over the R34.Was thinking about stensiling thunder clouds on the SS ute for good measure. Hmmm - I'm feeling a bit silly this morning. I better go for a hard drive in the Hills & get it out of my system!!! Whatsisname - dont be so modest, your car rocks.Get stickers.

I assure you that my 'beasts' are quite tame - really. actually, it's quite funny - my "2 fastest R33 GTRs in Adelaide" have no engines in them at the moment. One is out for a rebuild due to oil pump failure (drift6), & the race engine is out for a check over & to get the car painted - so I'm slumming it with the R34!!! I disagree about Phuman's R34. I like it. I normally dont like R34s in white, but I think the flames look good.I think it's donw tastefully, & I have been for a couple of rides in it & it's a great car Rice IMO is stickers & wings on a non performance shopping trolley like a Hyundai or something. It would be good if there were more well looked after/showy cars like Phu's around - after all it is an R34 isn't it!! I have been cruising with those guys a few times recently & they know how to put their foot down. Was thinking about flames for the race car, but not sure how they would look on Blue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe not. Also would like to add that Trust6 is one of the best looking Skylines in Adelaide & I love what you have done with it. I am sad that we dont see it out on cruises regularly like we used to, but when we do, it's always a pleasure - well done Matt(Whatsisname) see everyone at the dyno day.Dont forget the sauce.
  22. I dont know - try them both.
  23. I was put in a very akward position 'cause I am good mates with Martin & with Mark Tilbrook.I was allways very happy with Martins work & the huge amount of effort he put into the Race car project. As there has also been lots of effort made by Mark Tilbrook & he has offered to fully sponsor the car as far as labour goes I have decided at this stage to stay with Tilbrook Auto & Dyno. The car also has a few parts on it that belong to Mark.I am confident that Mick Stanic is skilled & has the know-how to keep pushing the development of this project to the next level. At the same time, I believe that Simon & Martin at Morpowa are also very good at what they do & would have no hesitation recommending them to anyone wanting work done on their car.Adelaide is a small town & I wont get involved in the politics, I just want to go fast & have a good time racing my car. If you are not sure who to use for tuning talk to both workshops & make up your own mind.
  24. I know all my dyno figures but will come for a look & to say g'day to martin & simon. If car is ready, I will be coming to the test & tune.Hopefully to take the title back from my mate Keir!!!
