  1. Who's being elitist? I don't complain about slow cars. I just go around them with wastegates open & give em 130db in the ear! We can't stop slower cars coming on cruises - it just makes it more challenging to get to the front of the pack & leave them behind - besides, we usually have a destination so they can always catch up if they want to hang with us. I'm sure those of us lucky enough to have hairdryers hanging off our engines didn't always have fast cars - so lets give the next up & coming fast car owers a break. They can cruise, but I agree that they should not block us in if they can help it. I am not referring to the sadcases who like to do 180s in carparks or spray gravel on our cars.while these antics are fun in the right time & place - our cruises are not one of them. Anyway, see you all Fri night.
  2. Mate, so did I. I was in a corporate box all Saturday & went for 3 laps over the circuit with Doug in his Helicopter. Cost - $0. I s'pose it's the old saying ' not what you know but who you know'. Had a great time anyway - even if there were heaps of pissed yobos down Rundle street later on yelling "riceburner" at the R34 GTR!!! I dont reckon a V8 supercar would be much quicker than 12.1 down the 1/4!!! But try explaining that to a diehard pushrod 2 valve per cyclinder old school streetcar head.
  3. I have been invited on the Porshe drive day next week. The idea of the day is to introduce people to the different models available & also to meet other people interested in them. They have a selection of Boxters, Boxter S, & 911 coupe & cabrios.(No turbos though - spewin - I've driven one & they are awesome). Will spend the whole day in the hills with a spotter out front on the lookout & get to drive all the different models - should be fun. This got me to thinking though. When we go on cruises, we drive our own cars & usually take our own passengers for the whole cruise.I am not suggesting that we swap cars but I thought it might be fun to swap the passengers around at intervals so they get a chance to experience the different cars & also get to know the drivers a bit better. Some of the drivers might even like to let their close friends drive their cars a bit & then they can go for rides in someone elses car. Of course social events where we are not cruising would be cool - but this way we can really check out each other cars a bit better.I know there are a couple of Skylines which are often sideways that I would like to go for a ride in! this idea would have to be properly organised on a decent day cruise so intervals could be fair & everyone gets at least a couple of rides in a different car & may not work if everyone wants to go in the same car, but I thought I would put the idea out there & see what happens. BTW - the LS1 cruise to Ayers rock is on over Easter. Whats the plan for the 28th March cruise?
  4. 723 rwhp - OS3litre 2835Rs 623 rwhp - RB26 TD06s sideways in 5th!!!! Whats the point in that? Get traction - buy a GTR. BTW - there is NO such thing as easy 10s.
  5. Awwwh.Get rid of that volkswagon please!!! Well when in Rome..... Every Jap video of drags that I have seen shows huge burnouts on Nittos to get them hot. On the US mustang website they state that they must be HOT,HOT,HOT. They are not a normal street tyre at all.Normal street tyres do not require big burnouts but Nittos do. I have only been using 2nd gear on the burnout but from now on I will be using 3rd & heaps of revs to get em boiling before the launch.Besides it's more fun & the compound will go off before you wear them out anyway. I have found 12 psi about right but I run 15psi in the front.
  6. Mate, WRXs are weak.Dont be weak - get the GTR. If you want a rally car get the EVO, if you want a tough street car go the GTR.This is a Skyline forum.
  7. Nittos are for Drag racing.i think the japs use them on the street, but I haven't 'cause I dont want to wear them out.Nittos do not have the sidewall constuction to be used on the track(circuit), I would recommend Bridgestone RE540s they are awesome & can be used on the street as well, probably ok at the drags too up to a certain power level - after 300rwkw Nittos are the best hands down.If you can only have one set for all purposes go for the RE540s, if you can afford a 2nd set Nittos will improve your 1/4 times no end. They are a bit sensitive to contaminants such as oil, coolant, road grime etc so I would keep the Nittos just for the drags & use RE540s for street/circuit. 1/10th on your 60' time equates to 3/10th at the traps & the Nittos should give at least a 2-3/10th advantage on the 60' time.Well worth the investment. Have fun - enjoy your GTR.
  8. they will either wheelspin or bog down.Wheel spin is faster as long as it's not for too long.the attessa will transfer torque to the front after rear has lost traction.Even GTRs with 250-270rwkw will break traction if your not weak.Over 300rkwk & you need more torque at the front straight away. The R34 has more front bias than the R33 but even they need a torque split controller of some type to be qucik off the line.at the drags Nittos are the only way to go.My race car needs a minimum of 7500rpm or it bogs. The stocky R34 needs at least 6500rpm.With a small capacity turbocharged engine there is no perfect hook up like a V8 can achieve. You just have to find the best compromise & give it heaps. Be prepared to break stuff before you get it just right. If you dont like holding the limiter & sidestepping the clutch - forget about launching a GTR properly. 300rwkw is not that big power for a GTR.Be great fun in a GTSt though!
  9. Yep.Would use a photo of it for my avatar but cant work out how to do it! Good choice nugget! didn't realise there were so many differences - thanks for that DCD.
  10. You wont hit the speed cut drifty - if you did you would be pulling 12s.sounded good on the dyno today - does need more boost. The rumour is that the usual winter Sunday street meets may not be on so this MAY be the last one for a while(I hope not) So come out a have a go. Driftspec - just drive like you normally do & you'll do fine.
  11. Fine - here is one for you Brad. Next cruise - Alice springs for a BBQ, then whip over to Ayers rock for a quick photo shoot. Dont laugh - I am serious! The LS1 boys & I are already talking about it. So better save up for some 1:1 gears for your torry. Barossa drinking session sounds fun - but could still be done with a pack of Skylines & designated drivers(who's going to drive my cars?) Murray Bridge cruise/ski is obviously a separate event but would still be great to do some time before the water gets too cold. The next (& last Sat night) street drags is on April 5th - so that weekend is out for me as I am taking 2 cars & will be very busy. How about we organise something for the last weekend of March?
  12. That one on your avatar is a 99 model vspec. I dont think the vspec II came out till 2001(but dont quote me)
  13. Actually Brad, we have town cruises all the time, so what are you saying!
  14. Sorry we left without you miss 33, we thought it best to leave quickly after the 180 drift display. Next time perhaps we should meet somewhere else! The car park at Burnside village is good 'cause it's well lit & near the city. You were the 2nd one to get a ride in it drift spec. Was my first drive in the hills in that car & found it a bit tail happy - might have to start playing around with the HKS torque split controller & wind the boost down a bit(was making 2 bar - nearly 30psi!!!)
  15. Actually, Helium is not flammable. the Hindenberg was full of Hydrogen.
  16. Would add new meaning to the terms - took off with the tyres on fire & go for a burn up the track
  17. Thats better - in English. Yeah, 3037S turbos might have to wait. could put TD06s on it, but would much rather run ball bearing HKS turbos 'cause they are the ducks guts. Runs well with the 2835Rs, so can stay as it is.
  18. What about Helium? Might make the car lighter! then you could have a chuff of it & do the chipmunks.
  19. thanks ultim8DTM5(what does that stand for?) I dont really understand the Jap catalog but I think the flange is GT25.Will need external wastegate. $3000 ea is correct.
  20. Yeah - good on you Drifty for organising it.Hills is always fun. who was the sad case in the black/green 180 doing doughys? Maybe do it again next Fri night?Could start a bit earlier so can cruise longer & not lose so many on the way. BTW - what happened to you (Driftspec) after we left Athelstone? Boost rules.
  21. Sounds pretty good to me Damon.I'll drop around JMS & say g'day.Failing that I'm not usually too far away from Tilbrooks. Will take you for a hotlap up the gorge if you are game.
  22. I'm sure I can find something suitable in the shed!!!
  23. Just a suggestion - but the Victor thing has been done to death a bit lately. The Murray Bridge Idea is cool 'cause it's different & includes twisty & long straights. If we went up through Birdwood then took Palmer Road to MB there would be a good mix of roads & some excellent photo opportunities.I happen to know a guy with a ski boat too - although I'm pretty hopeless at it. We could return on the freeway.Be a great day trip & means sitting around admiring all the cars while waiting for a turn behind the boat(which is a firebird with a 400 chev) & perfect for a BBQ. See what happens.
  24. Hmmm. Allright I'll come.I'm pretty stuffed from doing a 2 day photo shoot though.Be there around nine.Good plan to do our own thing - hills sounds good - see you all at bunnings.
  25. Yeah sure - in my 9 second R33.EVOs are sick, but GTRs are bad. A whole nother level of badness. BTW - as we all know dyno power figures are not truly representitive of how a car accelerates due to the level of mid range torque that each car has. While overpowered on paper - the EVO7s torque curve must be the explanation to it's performance against the R34. If the Drag extended beyond 2nd gear then I think the R34 would pull away.
