  1. How do you get the paint code? Off the plate? I have a bayside blue R34 GTR & I cant see 1E on it anywhere. Am I looking in the wrong spot?
  2. All right. If you must know.We did a photo shoot on Friday with the EVO 7 vs a WRX Sti. Both the cars we quite evenly matched - the Suba had slightly more kw but is heavier than the EVO.We swapped cars for a while & the rex did feel heavier but was ok to drive.I do prefer the lighter feel of the EVO & it has more exclusivity being only 1 of 3 in Aust. On the way back we lined them up at the lights & the road sloped down a bit.I put the handbrake on to hold the car back & of course I forgot to release it on takeoff!! Go the big drag racer!! I'll get him next time - but a win is a win & he won. Thanks Mortin Donnan.
  3. Yep.they are pretty cool.I sat in one BMW had here in adelaide a while back.(it was black with cream interior) They cannot be complianced in australia but were brought in for show.I think they had lots of problems with them in europe. For less money the new Maserati Spyder is pretty stylish & goes really well.I drove one late last year & they sound amazing. The maser is more friendly to drive than a 355 F1 spyder & has the same paddleshift 6 speed. The only thing I didn't like was the scuttle shake over bumps. An S2000 doesn't do this(probably due to the Xbone chassis) & costs roughly 1/3 of the Maserati! Be interesting to see the new M3 convertible when it arrives.
  4. I'm not suprised you are up the gully gettin sloshed tonight!
  5. No. I dont know anything about Audis.I've read about the RS6 - now thats a cool bit of gear.German cars are great. The last 2 posts are interesting. My Honda is blue with black leather - will miss it when it's gone.
  6. Been to a Honda dealer lately???
  7. 50km!!!:thumbdwn: Signs should read - Keep left unless overtaking - & if a Skyline,EVO, or any turbo car is behind you pull over to the side of the road & get the bloody hell out of the way. Hmmm. might not fit too well.
  8. Yeah, funny that.I suppose with the amount of **** I buy, occasionally I need to sell something! There are lots of other stockie GTSt Skylines that come on cruises. You wont get left behind - although some of the chicks here certainly like to put their foot down so lookout.
  9. Enrico - when you get your R33 come on one of the cruises ( we have them all the time, check SA forum section) & invite your mate with the S2000.Should be fun. There are only a handfull of 350Zs in Adelaide & the one he raced probably wasn't run in yet! I checked one out yesterday at Main North Nissan - mmmmn - they are different.Pity they are atmo. Door handles are weird!! S2000 looks much better in my opinion. For 60K+ I think a good R33 GTR is a much better buy - but of course some people shy away from turbo imported cars for insurance reasons. BTW - I am selling my Honda S2000 (3 months old) for $72,000. I have found another car that suits my driving style much better - a new EVO VII.This thing is so much fun to drive. You can chuck it around like a go-kart & it pulls like a train from 3 - 7000rpm. Also it can take more than one passenger, has 4 doors (first sedan I've had in years), & has a thrash factor of 10.All the electronic gizmos have saved me a couple of times already & it's only got 1200 kays on it.Came with a carbon fibre bonnet, CPU power upgrade, & full HKS exhaust ( I fitted straight away).Checked the boost reading yesterday & it's making 18 psi std!!!Should be making around 240kw at engine. The R34 GTR is a ' whole nother level of badness ' & feels more powerful & more firmly planted on the road(it should at 1650 kg!) but the EVO7 is fun,fun ,fun to drive & has really impressed me. Martin wants to do a photoshoot on Friday with the EVO7 vs a new WRX STI.Should be fun.I hope I waste it.'scuse me but I've never liked scoobys. The EVO has a single TD05 turbo - maybe I should quickly borrow one of Keir's TD06s just for the occasion.
  10. Actually The S2000 has 176kw which is the highest specific output (88kw per litre) of any n/a 2 litre in the world. The Honda only weighs 1270 kg - so 'on paper' you would expect it to be quicker than a 184kw 1450 kg Skyline. But 'quoted power figures' relate to top end power outputs. In the real world it is mid range torque that accelerates the car. From a rolling start at say 100kmhr the Honda would probably stay with the heavier Nissan, but off the mark - see ya atmo.Turbos are king. The S2000 would leave the R33 behind on really tight bends. It has a true 50/50 weight distribution & is very well balanced.Providing the driver keeps it in the right gear & up in VTEC the whole time the R33 would struggle to keep up.But again - when the road opens up a bit, turbo power hunts it down. I am not talking about GTRs here. The Honda would only have an advantage over a GTR in very tight corners like basket range/lenswood.Start heading up the gorge or somewhere like that & the stovetop tailights would be out of sight very quickly. I have spent many hours comparing these cars & they both have a very different flavour.
  11. Who's talking about M3s? M3s are luxury coupes & cost twice as much as Honda S2000s. I have owned an R33 GTSt & currently own an S2000.While the Honda is a very well balanced car & has excellent top end power(between 8 & 9000rpm) there is no way it will beat an R33.Honda quotes 14.9 - 15.1 for the 1/4 mile. Most average R33 GTSts should do low 14s to mid 13s.The mid range torque of the 2.5L turbo would walk away from a n/a 2L no matter how much top end it's got. The Honda has style, class, & is beautiful to drive.I really enjoy driving it with the top down & if I happen to pull up next to a Skyline I'll enjoy watching him dissappear & continue my crusin. (Then if I run into him later in my R34 GTR it will be a different story)Skylines Rock.
  12. Apologies Brett.Only commenting on what I saw.I know it's impossible to determine the cause of some engine problems. Everyone loved your car & we are all looking forward to seeing it again in Adelaide.I know what a pain it is to travel so far & have a breakage - I hope it all works out ok. BTW - I would love a ride in the passenger seat sometime!!! Cheers mate.
  13. 9.66 on Nittos. 3litre OS engine. Each 2835R is rated at 420 hp.Perfect for single on SR20. HKS 2540s are perfect for 700hp(rated at 350hp each) & still low mount. GTRken - sell em,sell em, & go crazy on one. sorry ndr. I am trying to sell them - not start a discussion! PS. IF I DO sell them - 3037S x2 will be next step up.
  14. Fair comment gtrken. What - 3 GTRs now? I take it you'll get rid of the WRx now? The thing that suprises me (at least in Adelaide) is the lack of mid range performance GTRs. We have a few sick ones & lots of stockies.Where are all the 11 & 12 second GTRs??? I'm sure there are heaps of them interstate.
  15. I dont know why I bother posting items like this on this forum!!!
  16. How about twin T51R SPL BBs !!! Seriously though, if I get a definate deal on the 2835Rs(lots of interest but no cash yet) I will upgrade to 3037S x2.This will give me an extra 100hp or so & should put the car in the low nine second bracket. 3240s would be cool, but would have to rev higher to make full use of them & also rebuild the engine sooner. I am not interested in running 8s - too much maintenance. I think the 3037S are a perfect match for the 3 litre with the step pro cams & extra compression it has.A lot of the japs are using these turbos right into the 8 second zone. This is just an idea - the 2835Rs are great & I will be happy to keep them & stay in the mid nines if thats what happens. See everyone tonight - looking forward to checking out any blue Skylines.
  17. Yes Lenzerheide is very nice, but a bit fancy for a casual meal with mates. We are meeting at cafe mediterranean(under the windy point restaurant) just before 8.00pm. Anyone else is welcome - if not see you at the cruise at 9.00pm.
  18. Going to meet some friends at 7.30pm for dinner over near there somewhere(haven't decided where yet) then head over to the meeting place at 9.00.I assume it's Belair rd where that woolworths is - or is it the one on Sheppards hill rd?
  19. Thanks miss*33. Which one is the Mitcham shops.Belair Rd? I think I will bring the R34 out tonight.
  20. Is that how you spell Kwinana! My bad. No - I'm sure there are lots of private racers that are in the same position.Car transport, plane tickets, acommodation for 5 guys per team, meals, fuel, entry fees, etc, etc - it's about $5000 per team. Thats why proffessional race teams have sponsors & the cars are covered in vinyl & they can travel to all the interstate meetings. Our cars are clean looking street cars & we want to keep them that way. Where there's a will, there's a way - stay tuned.
  21. For sale - pair of HKS 2835R turbos. 56T 0.87 A/R Ball bearing. Have done 17 passes & some dyno work. Make 900 hp & have run a 9.66 @ 148mph on my GTR. $3000ea.
  22. Last Saturday I ran my first 9 sec pass - a 9.94. Then I beat Keir's time with a 9.66. He came back with a 9.51 @ 150 mph. My final run was a 9.69 @ 148.95 mph. The cars are very close now & it is getting interesting. The 15th is still 4 weeks away - we'll just have to wait & see.
  23. G,day from SA. Keir & I were keen on bringing our GTRs over on the 15th & asked Mr Pike (manager at Kiwana) if there was any help available to make this possible.Unfortunately they are unable to subsidise any of the costs for bringing 2 cars & teams over to race, & because neither of us have sponsors it is not viable for us to come. I am dissappointed, as we both were looking forward to continuing out GTR street tyre battle over in WA. Maybe next year there will be a Heads up/Street tyre class just for 4WD turbo cars & if enough spectator interest perhaps some of the organisers of these meetings will be able to justify subsidies. Thanks to Sean & Nigel for your interest - maybe next year fellas.
  24. Well I went cruising anyway - run into heaps of people out & about.Had my first drag in the EVO 7 on Anzac Hwy at about 12.00.I was in the middle lane, with a Gen III (Hyper 8) on the right, & an RX7 rotor on the left.Got the jump and held a good car length till 3rd when we all backed off.Go the EVO. Had Martin & Susan in the car with me too!! I saw quite a few Skylines cruising around but didn't recognise many of them.If I'm not busy tomorrow night I'll bring the R34 out for a hotlap.
  25. Bring it over mate.Bring your get out of jail free card too. Seriously though, it's too powerful for regular street use now. It's not even at peak revs in 5th over the line.Imagine going to limit in 6th!!! Might have to go out to RAAF base or somewhere & try it one day.It is a shame to gain all that speed so quickly & have to slow down straight away. Yep, that 1/2 track burnout did look good - but because he stayed on the 9800rpm limit in 2nd with no traction & didn't get off it Brett melted that motor.Disappointing - wanted to see it hook up & run low nines. They'll be back. Also Mick's drag car will be awesome to see - he's a top bloke.
