cheers, will do. Thanks.

I have been "hanging on" to my original set of Bridgestones for too long & they are totally useless at the track now. They have 12000km on them & still have plenty of tread but they have been melted from 3 track days & today was the last straw. Seems like the Dunlops are the go to replace them - what other alternatives do we have now?
-
ha ha. Good one Gibbo.

I also realised that I bought that R33 GTR from Prestige Cars at Walkerville back in April 2000 (with only 13000km on it) so todays track day was my 10th Anniversary owning it. I think is was quite a suitable celebration. Awesome fun to drive.

I had the most fun I have ever had in a car - and thats saying something as I have done plenty of crazy stuff. Was a real thrill racing against Keir in his insane R35. That car is amazing - can drive out there legally & still pull low 12s!!! I am very happy with my new slicks, they gave me the confidence to push harder out of corners & to drop down in to the high 12s was brilliant. Cant wait for more. The R35 was struggling a bit with 12000km old tyres but still was fun to get "in the groove" before my R33 rocked up (thanks to my Brother Daniel) Thankyou to everyone who organised the day. Was the perfect track day. I heard someone has some video of my R33 chasing Keirs R35. I am keen to get hold of that on disc if possible please....... Cheers.

PS. good comment about the helmets but also dont forget you must have long sleeve shirt as well.
-
Man, you guys are keen. I will roll out there around 8.30 ish as from past experience there is nothing much happening before 9am. ( & I really need my sleep!) My brother is bringing my Race GTR out around 10 so will have a go with the R35 first to get into the groove. Hope its not too windy...... See you all there.
-
Ps. I dont have a 12v outlet in the race GTR but would welcome the timing gear for a go in the R35 if it is available for 1 or 2 sessions. The Race GTR is still very much in testing mode so not too fussed about lap times.

Hey guys, I cant wait for the day... have been so busy with work I havent driven my R35 in the hills for over 8 weeks. Shame, shame, shame. That car should not be sitting in the shed. Anyone want to charge the battery for me just let me know............... As far as the R33 goes I have not driven that in 6 long months since last track day in October so will be nice to re-introduce myself to the Holinger & give it a serve. Way too long between drinks....(well, for the GTRs anyway - hic!) Have just got my new 10.5" wide RE30s with new Michelin Slicks fitted so will be a great experience to drive the car with more grip out of the corners - the yoko AO48s (3 track days old) were struggling' to hang on out of corners so will be fun to be able to power out & get some good speed down early. All AI need to do now is learn how to actually drive the car properly get used to braking!!! I will drive the R35 out & give it a few goes as well, but not expecting great things as it has around 12000 hard kms on the original bridgestones & they will suffer after a few hot laps. Unfortunately, it requires a different set of rims to the R33 so cant just swap over the slicks. Hope the weather is just like today...... See you all there. JM

I was given one of these official RH9GTR stickers by Danny (of JMS fame) back in 2002 when I raced at the first Drag Combat meeting at Willowbank when the HKS drag GTR was there running 7s. It was a huge honour to even have one of these japanese stickers back then & there was no way I was going to stick it on my GTR till I had the time to back it up. I ran a 10.9 second pass that day & waited till a few months later back in Adelaide before I proudly displayed it on my windscreen after running my first of many nines. (best I got back in those days - now over 7 years ago - was a 9.45 @ 145mph) All these years later, the fact that an R35 GTR can run nearly as fast with "light tuning" is just astromonical. We spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to run those times back then & there was no way our GTRs were street legal. Street drivable - sure, no problems. My car was still "on the street" with Holinger, perspex windows, full cage, & 1 seat!!! Awesome to hear that an R35 has cracked the sacred nines......... but dont be fooled. There will be blood, sweat, & tears to keep it there. All those who see the number "9" & take it with a pinch of salt - think again. The difference between 10.1 & 9.8 is huge. There will be broken engines, clutches, etc etc. Mark my words.................... been there..done that.. Good luck trying to keep up with them. A whole new generation of cheque book racers has emerged. I will stick with my detuned 9 second R33 now turned into mid teens circuit racer & leave my R35 as it is for fun & value factor. Congratulations to AMS for doing it, keep up the good work. Be interesting to see if someone will follow in their footsteps here in Australia. Maybe the Willall R35 if we ever get a bloody Drag track again in SA?
-
Good work guys. Again. Keep it up.
-
Paid in Full today. Will have R33 + R35 there.

Willall Racing just ran a 1 min 12.19 at Mallala today in their JDM R35 GTR. Faster than the group A R32 GTR! Congratulations Keir & Martin. You guys are flying now. E85 looks like the way to go, when are you going to fit the bigger turbos? Wish I was there................. oh well. I will keep working.

and a V10 R8 Audi........... but that is a topic for another thread.

Ha Ha. Shutdown hard. Track the car & post up a time or keep it in the garage. Whats the point if it is not taken to the limit? The standard GT2 is built to thrash to the limit & not break. If you are going to modifiy it & really enjoy the improvements then eventually it may find its way out on to a track. Fair comment from a hard core tuner. I think everyone might have overlooked the time that comment was posted. It is also a fair comment from a thursday night drinker & if my memory serves me correctly last night was a particularly nice night for a few drinks in the beer garden. lighten up guys. If I started posting up about my GTRs on the porsche forum I might cop a bit from some of the hard liners as well so take it with a pinch of salt. We all know the GT2 is a dream car & so is the R35 GTR. I would love to own both.

I heard a few crazy V8s going past my work on the way to the cruise. got to love the old knuckle draggers, good to see them out on the streets. Be even better to be able to go & race against them every Sat night under lights at a new venue. Vote liberal

Prices will always hold well for a while until the numbers grow. Look at New M3s. Couldnt get a used one under $140k but now 07/08s for $120k. Heaps more of them available than the R35 but give it another year & I am sure there will be plenty more 35s on the market. A percentage of new buyers will just find them too hard core & take a loss to get into a more "comfortable" sports car (& there are plenty of them to be had) I am glad I bought my R35 back in June. It was a gamble that paid off as I have had all this time enjoying it on the track & on the street & it is still worth the same money today. It has not missed a beat & now has nearly 12000kms on it. We dynoed it the other day at 333awkw & every time I get into it I just love it. My advise would be - dont wait. If you want one then get one. Cars will always slowly drop price but R35 GTRs seem to hold better than most. Once you have one you probably wont want to sell it for a long time anyway.

Oops........ I should have read the motorplex thread before posting. Go on that cruise if you can, it is definately a worthy cause. WE NEED DRAGS! I cant go, will be stuck at work till 3pm. Spewin, havent been on a good cruise for ages. Sorry about that Sled.

Michael, I just noticed on that Adelaide Now page there was a bike crash at summertown. That explains all the cops up there tonight.
-
Yep, bring on the drags.......... it has been much too long. A lot of people in the scene now would not have even been to a proper drag racing meet in Adelaide. It is great fun & you dont get impounded!
-
Doh. That would help wouldn't it......... I work at Camperagent. The big caravan yard on Port Wakefield Road, Parafield Gardens. It's about a kay past Globe Derby trotting track on the RH side when you are heading out. Next to Jamieson Trucks & Selecta homes. I have had a few people ask me if they could check out the GTR & I never seem to get time. I thought this would be a good chance for anyone who wants to have a good look over an R35 without a salesman breathing down their neck (unless you are in the market for a good used caravan!!) Cheers.

Hey guys, I am having a sausage sizzle at my work tomorrow (Australia Day) & I will be driving the R35. Any of you in the area around lunchtime are welcome to cruise past & say g'day & grab a banger with sauce.
-
Well that photo was taken at Willalls here in Adelaide & we have had 4 or 5 of them together a number of times. Just the other day I was driving down Main North & Dave (Fungoolie) pulled alongside at Gepps X & we had a side by side Gun Mettalic R35 cruise thru Enfield. I think there is a bunch of them in Adelaide now, although we just lost one which got traded in on an Aston Martin & they wholesaled the 35 to Vic. That car was an ADM & had 22000km on it so some of the local owners are doing plenty of kays on the street. I drove mine to work 4 days last week. I went for a recent burn with Slip35 in these new seats & they are very comfortable & look great.

Nengun - Anyone Had Trouble Getting Parts?
Munro replied to Munro's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Yeah, it looks like it was the parcel service here in aust that stuffed up, but they never passed it on to Australia post & thats why it went back. I think it is all sorted out & on its way back now. Cheers. -

Well they have given me all the tracking numbers & I am taking it up with Austalia Post today. I dont want to make a fuss. I just want my parts so I can race my car!
