Hey guys I've got a r33gtst making a tad over 300rwkw but I've noticed when getting on the gas it's not a smooth power right the way through the rev range, it sort of feels like it comes on in section! But in saying that its very minamal an hard to notice. The only reason I picked it is because you can hear the "section" because of the screamer pipe. I'm thinking maybe it's slightly restricted?? Two things I've noticed is 1) the exhaust is 4inch dump to a straight through 3inch system with a spaghetti can on the rear but the inside of the spaghetti can reduces back down to 2 1/4inchs! 2) is the intake to the 35/40. It's 4inchs an then reduces down to fit the z32 afm (2.5inchs?) then to a pod filter. I'm definatly going to replace the exhaust can to keep it running 3inchs all the way threw but what are your thought on the intake? Would I see a restriction there? Cheers

To easy then:) thanks for that champ -
Hey guys I've got a hi-mount 35/40 setup and I've had to remove the turbo an replace the gasket as it let go. I had to remove all the water an oil lines an my question is, is there anything I have to do like priming the turbo with oil or bleeding the cooling system again as air may have gotten in? Cheers

Why Do We Pay People To Do Work?
lovelessnator replied to lovelessnator's topic in General Automotive Discussion
as for the dodgy welding jobs, are you sure they were actually done by the workshop in question and not by the previous owner or one of his mates? it's not really worth complaining unless a: you know for sure it was a workshop's dodgy work, and b: you were the one who paid for the work. I'm sure mate:) the car had just been built with all receipts provided, I also went down an spoke in person with the people involved in the build and one again they showed me the file on there compute to back it all up.. . -

Why Do We Pay People To Do Work?

How come you shouldn't seal them gaskets? -
As the title stats "why do we pay people for there work" ? Lucky for me I havnt payed for the work but the previous owner did and the work was done at very well known performance shop! So a few days ago my exhaust gasket gave way at cylinder 1 and 6 so being handy with my Hands I decide to put a new one in:) my car has a high mount 35/40, 3.5inch dump, ex gate an so forth.. This is where it gets interesting:) to be able to get the manifold off the exhaust studs the dump pipe needed to be takin off from the rear housing and the turbo takin off the manifold because the exhaust studs are too long to slide it off due to the turbo hitting the strut tower! Now that everything is off and out I can now see the doggy work the shop has performed:/ here's what I found.. 2 manifold studs missing Only 3 nuts where tightend on the WHOLE manifold 1 manifold stud almost rattled out by itself Only 2 nuts tightened up holding the turbo to manifold lol the other 2 I could move with my fingers! Barely any gasket sealer on the manifold gasket No gasket sealer on the turbo to manifold gasket No gasket sealer on the rear housing gasket to dump pipe Dump pipe bolts very loose Ex gate bolts very loose.. So now since its all apart I may as well do it PROPERLY and put new studs in new gaskets, seal it all properly and torque everything down to specs as it should be. I also decide whilst the dump pipe is off I'll heat wrap it and the manifold to. This has led me to MORE of there not so good work so to speak:) The dump pipe has been welded in section of 3.5inch tube but the welds fall short by 10-15mm of going right the way around an you can see its been leaking quiet abit! Also where they have plumbed the ex gate back into the dump pipe it's only been half welded off and is also leaking:/ Lastly:) I've always had a strange rattle at idle coming from the dump pipe ( you can hear it with your ear to the pipe ) and always wondered what it was, well now I no:) when they welded the internal gate closed they actually welded it off on the out side of the turbo ( where the actuator hand would normally connect to ) an the flap was vibrating on the rear housing of the turbo because it doesn't have any load to hold it shut anymore:) So out with the welder an buzz over the dump pipe and tack the gate flap closed:) At the end of the day I suppose I'm having a winge but why do we pay people to give us such crap in return?? I could never do that to a paying costumer! Has anyone else experienced such workmanship?

I'm not going to head down the e85 track "yet" but by the sounds of it my current setup should see me through safety to 350rwkw -
