  1. They have, and for every person who is overjoyed, there are some who have the shits with it. The problem is, you have to accomodate for the lowest common denominator. Having rules based on individual cars is just way to much f'ing around. Charlie, I'm not sure when the lease is up for re-negotiation. The thing is though, SD & ANDRA have bigger things to worry about atm, than just late model cars that can run 10's with minor mods. SD is in a bad way (financially) and if you think that the ANDRA fee's are over the top, you should see the rent that has to be paid & the cost to hire the ambulance etc.
  2. SD is a Govt owned facility & the lease with the Govt states that ALL events must be run under full ANDRA sanction.
  3. Yes gents, this is very old. And wont be happening at SD.
  4. Dont get me wrong guys, i'm not saying the rules are right, I just want you to see the other side of the coin. If you delve into the rule book even further, factory 11 sec convertables (C6 corvette's etc) cant race because cars without fixed steel roofs need a roll bar faster than 12.99. Traction control is banned even in super street and so on. The problem is, because no one ever puts their hand up for DC nomination or their money where their mouth is and put in a rule proposal, it will never change. Things are changing though, The new ANDRA technical officer is trying to get it allowed that street rego'd cars with cams/fia certified cages can race without requiring a seperate ANDRA tech & log book etc. Over the years though, I have seen alot of cars that I have kicked out (and there are lot) that the owners said to me, "I dont want to cage it", but then 12 mths/2 years later I have seen the car at EC or wakefield with a cage in it etc etc. I have never understood that.
  5. I'll be as nice about this as I can. Not pointing anyone in particular out, but some people need to pull your heads out of their asses. For those who dont know, this is Aaron, the ANDRA steward from SD. And wait for it, i own a starion, so i'm no knuckle dragger. The problem is, you cant make rules for some and then other rules for the rest. The rules have to be uniform. Also keep in mind, ANDRA has the highest safety record of all the drag sanctioning bodies internationally. And NUR33, you divisional director has a twin turbo altered, so I wouldn't say that ANDRA in NQ are anti turbo cars. The biggest problem that we get in sydney and the reason why we tend to be so blunt with people, is they rock up with their r35 (for example) with their chest pumped out and say we cant tell them what to do and they are better than us. You need to remember, we dont get paid to do what we do and do it for the love of the sport, so we dont need the attitudes and abuse. Let me ask you this, how many have bothered to fill in their ANDRA DC voting forms, write proper rule proposals, voice their feelings and opinions properly to their divisional council to try and get things changed?
  6. That would be me............................... And it wont be happening ad SD
  7. And just for those who will want to/need to buy a Super Street License on sunday, they are $150, cash or credit card only (we dont have eftpos facilities unfortunately).
  8. Well, the rains we had since the event was booked, meant it was going to take longer than expected to get the track back to a satisfactory racing condition. The crew have been busting their asses to get track ready, with the volunteers repainting the startline on sunday. Last weeks TnT had to be cancelled because it wasnt ready. So i'm sorry that WSID has been trying to provide everyone with the best possable surface to race on.
  9. Not for irregular off the street competitors. It is required for vehicles faster than 11.99.
  10. The rule book does allow it, but it only gets used if you are being an idiot or a c*nt towards the officials etc.
  11. Yes, aslong as it is secure/using a made for purpose mount. And when inside the vehicle is not positioned to interfere with the driver.
  12. Hehehehe, charlie, charlie charlie........ What car are you planning on running? On a serious note, dont do the boot it too 1000" then brake hard. That is extremely dangerous, as we have found in past you have a good chance of turning the car around and punting it. I would prefer if you rolled off it at 1000" and cruised through the beams.

    Drag Day

There is no need to be a sarcastic. I'm giving my time to come and help you guys out. Normally ANDRA stewards arn't present at these events so if you run quicker than 11.99 and dont have an ANDRA licence, you get parked. Think yourselves lucky this isnt an NHRA sanctioned track. Run quicker than 11.50 and you need a welded 4 point cage and licence.

Its not ANDRA trying to be c*nts, its actually an insurance thing. ANDRA's insurers will only cover people running xx times & speeds aslong as they have the appropriate extra coverage.

Hi Guys & Girls, I will be there on the Day to sell S/ST licences should you need to get one. But be warned, you run quicker than 12.00 you WILL buy one or park it. And run quicker than 10.99 and you will be parked, no 2nd chances. Licences are $150 and you can pay cash (please have correct money) or via Credit Card. Aaron ANDRA NSW 26
  17. Guys, talking here as Aaron the licence holder, not the ANDRA steward, I think you will find, as it stands, the fuel is not a truly commercially available pump fuel atm. With it only being available from a selected few servo's on the east coast. And the CSR/Manildra servo's are locked, you require a special card, for them to unlock it. Also, the blend (pump) that makes up the other 15% varies from supplier to supplier, so how do you really know whats in it. Also the Federal Department of Environment does not have a Standard for this fuel under the Fuel Standards Act 2000. It is not recognised as a gasoline because of the high level of ethanol, and is not recognised as ethanol because there is more than 10% which is the maximum level allowed in the current legislation.
  18. Super Compact is an Index Based ie: National Record + 5 tenths, Group 2 Class. The cars that race in the class are Pac, Gas, Mazsport etc etc. No v8's. The Current index's are:
  19. If they want to race a good variety of aussie cars, they are better off doing a couple of rounds of Super Compact. And lets be honest, better track, better/bigger crowd.
  20. On the cage deal, If you have an unmodified floor pan, and dont run faster than 10.00, you only need to have the rollover hoop welded in, the two rear stays and drivers intrusion bar, only need to be bolted in. Aslon as the bolts go all the way through, with a plate on top and underneath. On the liscence fee structure. Rob Sharp and Dean Neal have just come back from the NHRA, to speak to prospective sponsors and also get pointers on how to promote the sport correctly. Hopefully by xmas, we will see the major sponsors signed and will drag the sport into the mainstream! As for the licence fee's. Since you are in QLD (IIRC), I would contact: Christine Steffens - 0419 019 236 [email protected] She is the South QLD Divisional Director, and would be happy to see if there could be a proposal put forward to the QLD DC and NCC. Maybe a licence that restricts you to Street Meets, and TnT's etc. Then if you wish to race at Bracket attacks, National Rounds etc, you have to pay more for the entry.
  21. Awww, thanks shane. Make me feel all warm and fuzzy! There is more to the "incident" you are describing, i'll talk to you about, next time I see you! Let me ask you this then. When was the last time you were at a open track day, and you saw work place health and safety walking around, or the rep from CAMS insurer??? Ever wondered why at street meets you have to have a muffler? Unfortunately in this day and age, we live in a world where if I slip on your kitchen floor, i'll sue the pants off you, because I can. The rules that ANDRA have to abide by are put in place by their insurer, to save themselves. Some of you would have seen me or schultzy riding round on our little scooter and golf buggy. Did you know work place health and safety want us to wear a helmet at all times, when on those vehicles! Even tho my scooter struggles to do 20km/h down hill, with a tail wind! And if you come and see me at WSID on a wed night, i'll happily point out the EPA inspectors walking around checking the noise levels. Some of us find corners boring! In the end it all comes down to, are you an ET chaser or a RACER? and you have to make your choice....... And from the establishment side of things, the ET racers get no respect and never will.
  22. Point 1: I think the DRDF results (liscence fee's) are really starting to show their true colours. Group 2 teams are stepping up to Group 1, 3 to 2 etc. Non Automotive based companies are putting money into the sport. Old Group 1 drivers coming back into racing, other teams expanding. Point 2: No. It's not ANDRA's job. ANDRA's structure only allow's the NCC to instigate policy of it's own back. The constitution requires changes like licence classes etc to be instigated by it's members via a rule proposal. And for that matter, I am an ANDRA official, on the NSW Divisional Council, Crew member, racer. My position within ANDRA is volounteer based. I DO NOT get paid for any of my time, the abuse (even the threats of violence at street meets), petrol, tolls, even my lunch. It is done off my own back. I get more that 30 emails a day about ANDRA stuff, so trying to fit that inbetween working full time, trying to build my car, fixing Rocco's car, being at street meets etc, when am I going to find time to go and write something that, that would take months of research and fine tuning.
  23. Sorry paul, what I meant was you could propose different level licences, that incur different fees. Racers would be restricted as to which meets they could race at tho. That would be a good idea but could create a heap of problems at the track when racers turn up expecting to race at meets, they arnt licenced for. But like I said, if someone is willing to spend the time, writing the proposal, it would seriously be considered. Hopefully tho, after this season, we see the end of the DRDF with a major sponsor signing and we go back to the old licence fees. And for the record, I downgraded my UDL to a S/ST so I still pay the DRDF even though i'm not racing atm. Also the DRDF doesnt apply at Street Meets or Bracket attacks etc
  24. Adrian: I do agree that there has to be a more pro-active approach to the ET chasers, to get them to become members of ANDRA. Thats why on wed night's, you get 1 chance. If you dont want to buy a S/ST licence on the spot (or dont have the $150), you get a warning, then If you show up again at WSID you MUST have the licence, or you dont race. Same with the 10.99 cut off, you get 2 chances at it (unless you run 10.50's etc). Note, that I get my ass kicked for doing this. Paul: This subject has been brought up a number of times, and if someone was prepared to sit down, do the reserch and write the proposal, the division's would definately consider it. The hard thing is, that say racer A buy s a NSW div liscence. They can only race, street meets, bracket attacks, TnT's etc. They can not race at national point scoring rounds. They WILL ENTER the nitro's etc (they allways do) then the argument will be on for young and old as to why they cannot race the meeting. Use the Rocket All Starts as an example: From next season, cars MUST display a car sized sticker, not a bike sticker and vice versa. if they do-not wear the sticker (at all), they will not be eligable for points or money and this is starting some big arguments. As the racers do not believe that they should have to wear the rocket sticker to be eligable. Racers will always (but not all racers) look for the dodgey way to do things.
