  2. haha cheers mate , i wish the course was a lil longer , the cones were like 10m apart :(

You knocking my track design!!!:P

    they were 15m apart!! :P

how soon are you dropping the motor in, did you get a box aswell?

any chance i could borrow it for a week or so to mock up the engine, gear box mounts in the 180??

  3. around the passenger side strut in the loom running back from the headlights there should be a couple of power wires, pretty sure there's constant and switched there. these are ones i used to get the comp up and running on my 25 conversion in my laurel. and my ceff has the same looking plug, from memory it was a 6 or 8 pin rectangle shape

  4. I've done it on my laurel, which you may as well say is the same, there are two power wires you need to pick up in the enigne bay, thers usually a plug in the front corner of the bay near the airbox, use the standard wiring loom for the wiper system (strip this out of your standard 20 loom) then off hand i think there was about half a dozen wires to get the temp guage warnign lights etc going,

I used these links to find the wires in the 25 dash plugs

there was a link to the r31 skyline club and these had pin out of the dash plugs I'll try and chase it down for ya! :D its saying it can't find the website now

maybe took me a couple of nights to sort out but I've had the car running for about 18 months now with out any issues wiring wise.

  5. hey mate, you will need to be a member of a cams affiliated car club, e.g light car club, hobart sporting car club, and hold a cams license (both of which you can pay up and join on the drift days)

As for car/ driver prep, the basic safety requirements are:

helmet with appropriate AS safety rating

    full length clothing

seat belts in good condition and having a AS rating or FIA rating

    seat mounted properly

generally good car condition (no oil leaks, everything bolted in correctly especially batteries)

fire extinguisher is not a requirement these days but generally considered to be something to have, as long as its bolted in and using a metal bracket

there is no set limits on engine type in cars so you can inter breed between car makes

Jump onto the Hobart sporting car club website r Drifting Tasmania website both have generall requirement listings

edit: just lookign is that Sams old 32 you have??

    any other questions sing out

  6. for me it would be a toyota crown station wagon, BA XRT engine and gear box, black inter cooler, venetian blinds in the back window etc etc.

For me a sleeper has to be reasonably quiet, which a non forced induction motor couldnt do. XR motor is big enough to push the car along with minimal mods fairly rapidly plus the car is big enough to hide some decent suspension under it with out much hassle

  7. ok guys i need abit of help mainly places to start looking with my laurel which was having a few issues on Saturday at a drift day,

    Car: nissan Laurel

Motor: series 2 RB25, ignitor on coil type

Mods: greddy copy plenum, tr43 turbo, split fire coils, AFM in cold pipe before throttle, extended wiring over engine bay , XF falcon throttle with tps sensor, mostly stripped wiring loom, Power FC computer

Problem, started off the when i'd throw the car in for a scando it would cut out for a second or so then accelerate again, thought it was the

fuel pump as it was very noisy (not a usual loud hum, sorta a gurgling type sound) so changed that out with brand new 040 and went back out on the track. car ran for about 6 or so laps fine then it started to cut out again but this time i would only have to start accelerating (putting load onto the engine about 3/4 throttle type thing). the cut out was like the car turned off, it didn't cough or splutter blow smoke or any of the usual suspects for like a blown cooler pipe or vacuum line. and the only length of silicon joiner is the 2inch 90degree bend coming off the turbo everywhere else is steel piping, bends etc and just short joiners. metal induction pipe and air filter a one of the drift type solid shape

So now i'm confused, first thought after the fuel pump was the ignitor but as these are on the coils on this motor it wouldn't cut out like it is i would have thought, next would be afm but before i start going over everything i just wanted to check if there may be another problem i could be overlooking.

any help would be appreciated, i've never had an issue like this before so i'm stuck
