looks pretty cool. will it be black or slipping some bayside blue on it? i love cages painted the same as the body color, particually if you're keeping most of the trim. -

i saw some of the new website today before i disappeared for a long lunch so i reckon it will be up soon! the targa tas course is still being worked through, but will form much the same as this year... but day one will be better! the targa wrest point course will be detailed by weeks end with competitive distances. -
the car looks awesome russ! over the next couple of months i'm going to take some random samples of tassie pump bp 98 and have them tested by the company we have contracted for next years events do get some hard data of local 98.

e36 m3 are awesome, i think 3.0s are more livey standard than 3.2s thanks to less refined factory suspension set up. a mate of mine won rally tas in an e36 m3r about five years ago. his was an awesome car and he had an top suspension set up using ground control coilovers, eibach springs, thicker bars and tops. his 3.0 engine was good for 210kws at the wheels, but before he lost a battle with cancer this year he had been working on a 3,400cc engine that would have been good for 330 at the wheels. his plan was to do a small production run of them called the m3rs for tarmac rallying that looked just like a standard m3r, but with factory high-rise wing, carbon panels, 18s, big brakes, motec, titanium exhaust and plenty of other goodies... i'd still like to put one together and stick it to the dirty porsches like he planned to again

TT and TPW regs are approved and set to go, we are waiting on our web guys to sort out some databasing software for both events websites and they'll be up early next week better than ever! the fuel sampler isn't formally required anymore, but a good idea to have as it can make drawing a sample easier than a hose down the tank filler. that guy from the evo forum obviously didn't think that approval to run reduced size rims on the 35 might have actually been granted prior to the last targa tasmania and actully written into last years rules!!... don't you just love people that worry about everyone elses stuff for them! -
looks heaps better than it did with the silver rims... love the sinister look!

make sure you give the dash a matt or flat finish else the reflection in your windscreen will be blinding!

TAU - Some stuff is good, some less than, but you get what you pay for. My RX7 came from them and was better than expected. http://www.tau-sales.com/defaultMall/sitem...CarHomeMain.jsp I'd only seen 22B's for decent money in Japan until then... admittedly I don't actively look for them, but yeah I'm sure there are others out there. This one needed new paint on the roof and middle of the rear wing with 80,xxxks and had Brembos on it. The thing I'd love to put in to stand-out from the pack and get a half decent result would be an NSX Type R... I drove Hiro' Fujiwara's one a few years back and the thing was awesome. -

I saw a genuine 22B on TAU in Japan for 22K about three months ago. I had a real hard think about it, but had a bit on cash-wise that week so couldn't stretch... would have been cool though. Based on current indications there should be atleast nine or ten R35s at Targa next year. -

Forget IP, build it as you want and send it Tassie and compete in the seven round Targa Catagory... common sense rules that are import and fun friendly, just make sure you fit R tyres and run in the series many jurnos have called 'Gran Tourismo For Real' Where else do you see 911 Turbo, GT3, GT2, 968, 944, Nissan GTR and GTSt (31/32/33/34), Nissan 200SX, Subaru WRX, Mitsubishi Evo, Mazda RX7, MX5, Toyota Celica, BMW M3, FPV, HSV and many others mixing it up!

From Dotars two weeks ago: 'Please refer to the race/rally section of the bulletin as it will advise of the eligibility criteria and of the documents required to process your application for approval.' The bulletin says CAMS licence, but as detailed earlier in the thread, with drag racing etc there are ways around this. Also, I've got another tarmac rally car due to arrive next week (fourth rally import... no I have even crashed one of them!) and as always it as a painless process with my CAMS National Rally licence and summary of events competed in. I organised the import of a mates tarmac rally R32 GTR with an CAMS L2S and no dramas either.

Targa Rookie course will be Launceston-Launceston. Yeah use the weekend to recce with Monday for more recce in between doco, scrutiny with breifing and the welcome function from 6:30 I think it will be. Targa Wrest Point, correct no prologue... cars will be seeded instead (I'm open to bribes!). Friday for this event will be doco, scrutiny, brefing and welcome function. -

Here goes… Targa Tasmania only accepts entries with a certain level of experience and always has since a large number of crashes at a single event back in the early 90s. Circuit racing, hillclimbs, super sprints, driver training and any at speed driving experience is all considered and usually as a block of experience (people that can drive rarely forget how!). Sometimes there might be questions over finishing ability at events too as starting an event doesn’t always mean you have actual experience! The actual car, the driver, the navigator and also end goal of the crew are all considerations taken into account. If its thought someone is a bit light for experience, or might not have much experience in the car they plan to drive we will ask for some time to be spent with an instructor, or to do some more events before a Targa event. I've talked guys out of running Targa Tasmania in certain cars, particularly people new to motorsport as a whole that go an buy the flashest car they can afford and want to have a serious crack. Mindset is important… my suggestion is to enter the first event with the simple goal of finishing and a good class or category result is a bonus. I nav’ed for the first time about six months ago and we have great prep, plenty of recce and a well set-up car. We had both competed in events and rallies before with solid results, but I’d driven and my mate had nav’ed, but never together. We took it casual and if results came all good and we got quicker over the weekend. We only totally gelled with each other and the car just two stages from the events conclusion and took the car home un-damaged and keen for more… there are no sheep stations on the line at these events, even if you are super competitive, budget on one or two events to simply ‘to get your eye in’ and try for results after sussing out the game. The modified group is aimed at people that have a car that they might use for say circuit racing or quick road stuff that has mods that place it outside the rules (whatever they might be), but they’re keen to come and try it out without having to invest a heap of cash retro fitting standard parts for something they are interested in but not totally prepared to dedicate a their car too just yet. It all really depends on the specifics of the entry as to what will work in this group. Remember that Targa Tasmania and Targa Wrest Point are invitational events, if the package doesn’t work then that will be explained and we'd with you to see if all the boxes can be checked to ensure the safest event possible. -

all cars in this class will each be considered on individual merits, safety equipment and crew experience. that kind of car isn't out of the question though.
