  1. cool, helen is good value. funny you should mention that... for 2009 with targa tasmania and targa wrest point we are introducting a class that will allow people to compete with modifications outside the tollerence of the technical regs. providing cars meet all the safety requirments eg. cage, belts, kill switch etc you can run all stages at unrestricted pace, compete for a targa trophy, but not be classified under the final results.
  2. with 2mm skimmed off the 356 they will also fit under 17" Volk Challenge and Gmax Drift.
  3. Helen came and asked me about half cages and R32 GTRs so putting two and two together she will call in the morning suggesting a CAMS approved Bond bolt-in system... allow $1200 for R32 kit. They are pre-fab and generally in stock ready to freight. No cutting trim required even with side intrusion so no real resale killer. For a decent weld-in allow atleast $3500.
  4. ben, all fixed from yesterday mate. yeah if you wana get in now we can swap everything around later. i spend most of monday driving over the course and its a ripper!

  7. yeah, its black and white now - vip on one side and frosty paws on the other. lunched the replacment engine this morning so hes out now. according to nunny from lwr the cooling system just isn't very effecient so once thats sorted it should be half a thing. they tapped the power well back when was running sixth too too so good form.
  8. no news yet ben, but still progressing. all looking good. found me a gsr shell yet? note to anyone - i need a registerable lancer cc gsr shell - pm me! i'm in wa at australasian safari... tarmac rally regular tony quinn is running an ex-dakar swb pajero with mitsubishi gto (3ltr, v6, twin turbo) engine and was running sixth in his first attempt at off road until the engine shit itself. big night and day for the crew replacing it as not appear designed to be worked! ps. wrest point targa.... what a good idea that would be. awkward sounding name though
  9. I bought an Evo last week... so 1997 BMW 318i with plenty of fruit for sale!
  10. Look familiar, is that where the IP Nationals were last year?
  11. Nah not this year Russ... we were thinking of running the Type R there again, but got a bit on with property at the moment and I just bought another car - Evo III... not sure why, but I'll work that out by the time it arrives! Previously this event has been good fun as nice and tight course that is easy to recce with minimal time. It doesn't interest me so much now with the ARC guys running as it will change all the timing/results system to be more exacting for touring stages etc and not as free and easy as it used to be when based more traditional tarmac system.
  12. TSS Targa Class has very very open rules and the mods to your car as its sits would make it pretty competitive... more than enough to knock of a silver RX7 anyway! Not much progress on the RX7 front but have decided I will be doing testing it in November so better get on with it. New glass goes in next week, still waiting on arrival of seats and brakes, and the engine and gearbox are still to be freshened. For the GTSt, its been claimed by Kylie so I'm suffering the 318i and so over it... I'm looking into RB20 conversions for it but makes more sense to sell and I'll buy either an S15 or 32 GTR.
  13. ...or a good RB20! $70 guards, $100 bonnets, $25 bumpers!
  14. Tuned GTR with R tyres it is then... the RX7 might be Ok if rolling starts were allowed!!
  15. Everyone says its heaps of fun so keen to have a crack. Is there heaps of km's done driving around the country side? ie would a proper race car be a painful thing to do it in, or would say a warmed up GTR road car a better choice?
  16. whats a realistic budget to do a duttton event?... say vic or nsw?
  17. The DK 35 ran Dunlop SP Super Sport Race at Targa this year, the 20" size is an OEM fitment to the some of the bigger AMGs. They are best described as a semi R type tyre... I've done some laps in Targa Tasmania front runner Greg Garwood's GT3 with these fitted and they were pretty good. They look like a performance road tyre, but deal with the heat much better than a roadie and are awesome in the wet. The sub-3.5sec issue is correct, under the CAMS M1 rules as they sit the R35 V-Spec will not be eligible. Targa Tasmania though chooses to see common sense and does not maintain that rule, accordingly the R35 V-Spec WILL be eligible and encouraged to compete in... The Worlds Largest Tarmac Rally!
  18. if you part it i'll buy the rear seat. only want the base, but till take the base and back if need be.
  19. Yeah the +43kg rule for spares and tools will be flicked under the '09 rules. For a GTR (or any other S1 and S2 classified car) its standard weight with no tolerance for further reduction. Ben gets to drop some weight (5%) with the GTSt in the interest of parity and cause he's put on plenty since last year!
  20. Yeah all 7000... Not all at once obviously, launch them like ten at a time from an orange cannon!
  21. 135i would be a hard to beat thing i reckon based on 335 experience. Still i'd rather go another 8k and pick up that dirty ol' 34!
  22. 7000 boomerangs... not sure if it's just me, but how much fun would it be throwing them off somewhere like Sydney Tower!!
  23. Russ - Sorry missed the exhaust bit. Rule used to be standard pipe size and no bigger, now its standard pipe size + 15%. Eg that Mines stuff would be OK like DK 35.
  24. Russ - You can apply to run whatever size you like inplace of 19 (TRD Aurion did it this year) and 20" (the C7 Vetts did this year) rims (ends up with me so all cool), but suitable R's for the 35 are coming onto the market now. Steve was considering downsizing with the DK 35 this year, but he ended up getting those 400mm rotors so had to stick with 20s. Woo - $80k for the 34... would he swaps a '97 3 series, a half arsed half finished RX7 SP knock off, a 33 GTSt and a couple of entries to TT?!
  25. Sure does, entire Z-Tune kit is Ok too.
