  1. Item: R33 GTR standard Airbox Age: Any Condition: Any To Fit: (What car) R33 GTR Location: Any Contact: PM me
  2. duncan - its based on standard cams design and constructed out of steel by jason white. little unusual yeah, but not many options when it comes to rx7 with the rear space being so small and tight. my old gtr went to the arches, but gtst was similar to this on the towers, but this alone made it ineligible for ipra events being out of the cabin space. roy - yeah have read a report similar to that effect, honestly didn't even consider specifying which way, but doubt i'll be pushing as hard as him so not too stressed! i wanted to run an a-pillar sainz bar too, but found that bar and a seat with head support wings wouldn't both work so the seat won. the cage and interior will be silver to match the exterior. currently got the dash off being trimmed in alcantera. doors trims will be flat carbon panel and only minimal plastics being reinstalled too keep a clean look.
  3. Its a shame the black ones arn't come down to do a REAL Targa rally!
  4. the best thing about a custom cage is you can space it right out to the edges of the cabin to maximise passenger space... if you didn't have the side intrusion bars, a cage like mine wouldn't be very painful to live with on a daily basis.
  5. i played around with it all weekend and some good results. the coolest was sticking it on the outside of the door behind the wheel!
  6. thanks guys, yeah this is the last cage whitey is doing, at least professionally/commercially anyway. needs a few things to finish it off, but should have it back early feb, then rip into the paint and mechanical... plan is to have it on track mid-year, but i'm keen on a single turbo conversion so cost might slow things down a little!
  7. i was disappointed by the show, how on earth can luffy genuinely rate how good a car is by tooling around traffic cones! how can he comment on grip, power, handling and brakes while restricting cars to low speed and minimal g force... i'm no expert, but have raced amongst some good names and experience tells me that naturally the v8s are going to be tops around extreme low speed corners with massive torque! i hope things get better... but maybe i just want a turbo to win!
  8. wogboy - very cool 31 mate. funz - wogboys point is a harness forces you to sit up straight in the seat, in the event of a roll over a standard lap sash lets you duck towards the centre of the car to avoid the roof closing down... its certainly something to consider, or atleast be mindful of in a car that doesn't have even a half cage. I used to run a harness in my s14 for club days to hold me in the standard seat better and that didn't have cage, but I was always always in the back of my mind to act fast if everything went pair shaped. I took the harness out when it was used the road for that reason, plus its a pain to wear all the time once you get over the coolness!
  9. yeah certainly not perfect, but good enough to relive and share the memories and cheap enough to be disposable.
  10. sau_man - the suction arm can stick on windows or windscreen yeah. benm - the quality is in line with the price, but certainly better than a webcam as you can see from the below footage which was resized and compressed for the web. i'll take some uncompressed. the point of this one is you don't need the ridiculous fabricated 3mm thickness metal cage CAMS require for cameras over 100grams... next easiest option than this is a remote lipstick and base hd and then your looking at $1500+. some footage taken at bathurst with one the other week - http://s162.photobucket.com:80/albums/t279...thurstInCar.flv
  11. The cage in the RX7 is nearly done...
  12. guesty - i'm gonna take some footage over the weekend, the only other footage online is compressed so doesn't really paint a true picture. sau_man - i doubt the pictured arm would stick to an r32 dash, but the stick on mounting tabs in kit would stick on an r32 dash i reckon. to not have a metal cradle the camera must be under 100grams.
  13. After spending the last 12 months looking for, buying, importing and testing the quaility of solid state lightweight incar cameras for motorsport use I've found the Go Pro Motorsport camera. It's a 3 megapixel camera with glass lense, 16mb memory expandable to removable SD card (2Gb), 512x348 video, self timer, USB/RCA connection, powered by 2 AAA batteries and PC and Mac software. Its suitable for CAMS drift, supersprint, hillclimb, circuit racing and rally use without a metal cradle as a it only weighs 40grams without batteries and under 100 with. It can be used internally or externally on any smooth surface, it can even be fitted to a helmet for bike or kart filming! I bought a bunch of these if anyone else wants one just PM me - $269 including mounting arms, software and cables.
  14. mark and i had a drive through some of the newies on day 3 and day 4... the pieman dam road stages are simply awesome... the mazda 3 diesel course car is a good thing too!
  15. 4admrn - queenslander tony alford is the driver, he is the md of donut king. for targa the rims don't have to be standard, just standard size. they could also run an optional size rim, but don't yet know if one has been offered. madgt4 - you picked the shamless self promotion then!
  16. targa tasmania official news - http://www.targa.com.au/Media/Releases/R35.html this dk gtr was always favourite of mine!... maybe it was the impressive driver?
  17. Spoke to Steve 'GTR Guru' Thatcher earlier today, the white R35 in the pics is in fact the car his team at Just Jap imported and are preparing for Donut King's Targa Tasmania effort. Get an eye full of the white before it turns pink!
  18. high performance car, low performance driver... whoops!
  19. Having personal experience using these on the track I can confirm they are a good entry level coilover, but my experience has only been with far softer spring rates than the default provided... my only concern would be to longevity with hard use. The above said, if you have a 2k budget I'd consider Australian spec Tein Super Street from Fulcrum or if you don't require adjustability consider SK's kit. If you were to go with the D2/G4/K-Sport option, I'd go with Just Jap's G4 brand as their support is excellent.
  20. news to me dunc and have been talking to them.
  21. Item: Volk Racing Challenge Rims - must be 17x8 - after a pair or set Age: Any Condition: Any Location: Any Contact: PM me
  22. sorry haven't checking in for a while. vents are still for sale, sorry but sold the seat and rails a fair while back. wheels are off the market as being kept. the vents are f/g copies from just jap. never fitted or painted.
  23. a fix for the 180k limit will remain an unknown until the car arrives in the country in a few weeks. hopefully it can be overcome in time. the fact that suitable 20" r tyres do not currently exist is a more significant issue... the car will either run road tyres at the event, or smaller rims. these are just some of the problems you encounter when you're setting a new trend, but good on tony for putting his money where is mouth is.
  24. thanks for your constructive input... clearly you've been too busy eating dicks to notice that the a-pillar is black plastic from the factory, so painting it would detract from the factory styling!
