Targa Tas '08, Whos Running, Discussion Etc
t01-100 replied to Marlin's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
hellyer and oldina were dampish with inter corners on the first run, but dried up from there. luina was also damp on that goat track after the bridge, but dry everywhere else. dave and us were sharing service crew and we called on all our local contacts to source parts for him. the crew worked until about 5am sunday morning getting it going again (huge effort). andrew lawson ended up lending and building a diff from his spares (nizpro 200sxr) and kelvin maxfield (r31) supplied some housings and axles from his track car. the event was good, but the integra lacked so much up hill urge compared to the year i ran the gtr. nearly 100ks difference in max speed on the 400m streach in hazlewood! the year i ran the gtr, every gtr crew went off on the same stage (luina) - jeff keyte (R33 N1) ended up down a bank, we (R32 V-SpecII) end up spinning and taging a bank and whitey (R34 N1) removed the front of his! -
Targa Tas '08, Whos Running, Discussion Etc

LOL - nice package! We picked up 14th at Rallye Burnie on the weekend in the Integra, which was an excellent result as it was Darren's first event as a driver, I'd never navigated and it was the first time he'd spend more than 10min in the car. I now have a new appreciation for the navigators role, but didn't vomit! Dave Ayers (R33GTR) suffered a rear diff failure and had a generally painful weekend with related sensor problems thanks to the diff failure. We think the diff finally gave it after spending most of Targa in 2WD. -

Motul Rbf 600 Vs Ap Racing 600 (cp3600)
t01-100 replied to Fujiwara's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
In Australia Motul has primarily been a bike brand... only in the last 5-6 years has it been pushed to cars. Link International used to sponsor my Skyline when they were promoting the expansion. Its always been big in Europe for both cars and bikes though. -
Motul Rbf 600 Vs Ap Racing 600 (cp3600)
t01-100 replied to Fujiwara's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I've used both AP 600 and Motul 600, both are good and never found a problem with sprint races upto 15laps in 1200kg GTSt or 1550kg GTR. AP is $55 locally and Motul is $25... I now only use Motul for obvious reasons! -
I'm sure I can orgnise the odd Targa GTR to come out!

A pic of the pair. Can email more. Caliper part numbers (side specific) are CP6040-3S7M and CP6040-2S7M

1 pair AP Racing GT1 monobloc 6 piston calipers GT1 category homologation Widebody design allows upto 30mm thickness pad Quick release bridge allows for easy pad change Suit upto 380x40 steel or carbon rotor. I've sat them over 343 and 355 x 32 and pad sweep would be OK. Can email pics. $1800 ono will arrange freight. Was intending to put these on my race car, but a change of rule requires smaller wheel. Would swap for front/rear set of Nissan GTR Brembo calipers

Its the peppering of the front end, windscreen, mirrors and rear sides of the guards from little rocks and crap on the track that makes the mess - ideal places to put stickers! I remember we painted the mirrors on the GTSt at the start of one year and three meetings later the black paint was near sandbasted off!

looks awesome... i hope it stays that straight and shiney after its been on the track for a while!

Although sold a year ago, I previously owned a genuine 1994 Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec II. I imported it as a race rally car during the R32 non-compliance period a couple of years back. It was prepared and a lightly modified tarmac rally car and saw some tarmac rally, hillclimb and track action - ran top five at Rallye Burnie 2005 and won the odd Tasmanian hillclimb. In three or so years I put under 5,000ks on it and all were fantastic. Was mainly sold as I didn't want to be the one responsible for wrecking such a good example by either modifying it further or crashing it! There was an article on it in the last issue of SPEED magazine, but the pics were of it before the race prep. The car is now living in Victoria and is doing track days and touring road events, but carrying many more modifications since sold. Was a Sept 1994 build with hardly a mark on it and factory confirmation of production and model specification.

I spotted a yellow R33 GTS25t the other day heading towards the Tasman bridge with standard rims painted flat black. I thought that car got written off... rims looked a bit tired like they need a respray. I was in the equally eye watering yellow Type R!

Yeah new bike helmet to AS1698 standard are cheap, but the only downside is they can be heavy. ERG are doing good SFI standard helmets that are light and only $350 which are good value. I wouldn't spend too much on a helmet if it doesn't have HANS posts or the ability to put them in.

CAMS would still have on file, expect to pay about $80. As they are only for Group A, Targa has never had a use for them... I have heaps of others though.

Cams Approved Roll Cage - R32 Gtr/gtst
t01-100 replied to t01-100's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
I've since sold the car, but the new owner is based in melbourne and is going to pull it out of the car and put a welded system in. PM me if your keen and I'll give you the guys details. This system was better than a Bond kit, not that they are terrible, just basic. Personally I would never had a bold in system in a real race car again. -
Euro Imports
t01-100 replied to m3gtr's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
Yeah right I didn't think Japan got much RHD euro stuff, I thought it was mainly LHD. For things people would want to buy like BMW M or Benz AMG ect all come out in Australia new so would be excluded from SEVS. -

LHD would be the most common problem with the coolest of euro cars also. -

I always thought because Lambo and Fezz were both imported in small numbers they have always been imported and complied under the low volume scheme by the Australian distrubutors? -
I got real anal with this tonight - masked up the wheel, even the MOMO logo and resprayed it!
-
I've just had a used momo I bought recovered, I only bought the wheel cause I wanted the hub boss and no one could supply a new boss for my car. The leather on the wheel was deeply torn and scratched and it was basically only good for the bin, but had it recoved in a nice suede to see how it might come up. Its now so good I'm going to put this in the car race car instead of the new one I bought! If anyone else wants a wheel done give me a yell... not too pricey either.
-
Nah, few options available.
-
Checking on the weight mate, will PM you tomorrow. Matt sounds keen on some too! The Whites ran 365s with their White Hot 8 piston calipers under R34 rims also.
-
Hey Ray Just found out the URAS NS01 17" has more clearance than an R34 GTR 18" so would most likely do the job. Give me a yell if you want some as can get a good price.
-
Awesome! My Volk Challenge rims (painted black of course!) have good clearance, aside from that there is a GMAX rim that isn't too pricey that has good clearance. I'll suss out which one and let you know. We've put a 355 G4 Racing 8 Piston kit on another RX7 and working through options now. I reckon Volk GTC and ROH Modena would be bang on, but I think their both too showy.
