i've got a mines ecu in my gtr at the moment i was going to get a pfc, but we had a mines ecu laying around so thought we'd give it a go first. up til now its produced as hi as 250kws with basic mods and not sky hi boost very safely. i will be changing to pfc shortly because i want to change afms and also use fc edit, but if you want good power for low coin the mines ecu’s are an excellent option. just need to be careful of a/f ratio with detonation, but with ign/timing/boost that can all be manipulated without changing the maps in the ecu, any good dyno operator can sort that out.

A lot of people make claims.... when will it see the track?

I had a look at the GT40 out of interest, very tricky I thought, but no I don't inspect any vehicles. The National Technical Commissioner for Tarmac Rallies did though and was OK with it. One thing I did note about the GT40 was the tyres. The rears were so hard that they would have created sparks in the wet!

The electronic system was trailed again this year, still not 100% though, hence why the paper and fax system was again used. The reason Targa developed its own system is so the capturing system can collect data that is workable with its custom electronic results system as now used by ARC, Classis Adelaide, East Coast Targa, GP Rally and a few others. In consultation with Seiko, TAG and a number of other suppliers it was found that no existing system is fully automatic, even the WRC system has a form of manual input. So Targa has set out, along with a contractor, developing its own. Targa have contact with councils the entire 12 months of the year to minimalism resurfacing conflicts. All councils are kept informed of the course and any proposed stage changes. It baffles me as to why a council will go and resurface for instance streets like in Longford and not expect backlash. Targa performs it best to ensure resurfacing is kept to a minimum, and if performed that the roads are swept clear... unfortunately sometimes Targa becomes court up in municipal politics and suffers as seen by the examples in Longford and Triabunna. Wilmot was plain and simply cause the contractor did not deliver on the job assigned. Brock Monaro - Yes it did, read the rules. 5 were built by Holden Motorsport and inspected. GT40 - No form a visible roll cage, it was of integral design and hidden from immediate view. Extinguishers were there too if you had a close look. White GTR - Don't believe everything you read in the paper. They're GTR was excluded last year for being fitted with and using a Nismo waterspray kit, not missing intercooler mesh. Waterspray is not a permitted modification unless it comes standard on the base car. Therefore Evo's and STi's can use it as its OEM on those, but not GTR's or 911 Turbos or GT2s as it was only an option.

These regs are aimed at CAMS approved International and National tarmac rallies only such as Targa Tasmania, Rally Tasmania, Rallye Burnie, East Coast Targa and Mt Buller Sprint etc. Touring Road events such as Dutton and Grand Prix Rally will not be affected. Yes, Porsche are the big winners, but only because they produce the best car! 911 GT3/GT2/Turbo's could all be fairly accurately called race cars built for the road with little compromise.... a GT-R is a road car with large scale production compromise that is raced.
-
The differences are subtle, but sizeable.... For example an R32/R33/R34 N1 under the proposed rules must run standard ECU and Exh, no boost, no brake cooling ducts, no coilovers.... while a base model R32/R33/R34 can have all the current mod's allowed in LMS, but of course non none of the standard N1 good bits like coolers etc to ensure you don't need to rebuild the engine after each event and the only reason people buy or replicate N1s in the first place!

Woops! Nismo Z Tune isn't eligible though. 1500 need to be built being a post 2002 model.

R32 Wheels over R33 Brembo's! Do they fit?
t01-100 replied to amosite's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
no they don't fit, std rotors are to big. slip some R34 GTt 310mm rotors under it instead and they'll fit a treat. -
forget talking, set the standard rules for all events as those for targa and pretty much everyone will be happy!
-
www.cams.com.au/go/trregs are the proposed new rules for all CAMS Approved tarmac rallies. I wouldn't pay too much attention to these though as most of the steering committee that put them together have now walked away from what has been published!

Yeah sure thing.

From what I’ve seen and considering I’ve spent double figures on my GT-R that was already in pretty good condition, and that’s without the spare rims and tyres. Unless you budget on spending a good $6k on a $15K GT-R to bring it up to the condition it should be in you’re giving yourself a false sense of value over a $23k-$25k GT-R from say Just Jap or UAS. I say this because although it might be a bargain purchase price, you my need to factor in the extra cost of replacing aging turbos, gearbox with dead syncros from 3rd and 4th, buggered intercooler hoses and general servicing etc. All of which need to be in decent condition for a supplier sell the car without risk of it returning in a hurry or getting a bad reputation. After racing an R32 GTSt on the track last season, for under $15k my choice for the road would always be a GTSt every time. $1k replacement engines, $600 replacement gearboxs, simple and basic 2.0 turbo 2WD with a great chassis and good standard brakes.

The 2006 date is currently under review as it may conflict with the Melbourne F1.

Hey Greg Do you use Terratrip or other? I have bought a VDO Mini-****pit and not sure which sender to use. SB

Is this an old school cable drive or eletronic? Trying to work out how to drive a VDO Mini-****pit rally comptuer.

Down here we approx 45 race laps a day + free practice in the morning + quailfying. Races range between 5 and 15 laps. The 15 lappers usually have a compulsory pitstop where a velco sash has to be removed by an official and the standard 40 speed limit applies in pitland as usual.

Haven't used Dunlop's before, but in the Bridgstone RE540s and RE55s, 35 cold would be too high at any time. We start the RE55s at 30-32psi depending on track temp. I used RE55s the GTR on the weekend in a hillclimb that was very wet and dropped them back to 27psi with excellent results... bet everyone with a 3 second gap to 2nd!

The camber certainly improved handling and general tyre wear (completely flat wear). The owner of the car and I don't really understand he technical side of suspension apart from the fundametals, so top tarmac rally driver Jason White set up the car similar to his teams 300ZX TT circuit car. Found braking was not effected by the camber and the vehicle is not fitted with ABS. It still retains standard calipers, Pagid pads and standard size DBA slotted rotors fed cold air by 3" neo ducting right into the veins. I've now bought an R32 GT-R V Spec 2 to go racing.
