Thought i would post up some pics and progress of my latest build as i enjoy looking over everyone's on here and getting ideas from them as well. Over the years my Dad and I have built plenty of cars however they have always been for rallying. This time we are doing something different. Being a lover of Skylines since I purchased my first 33 many years ago I had always wanted to have one as a track car. The time finally came up when my Dad wanted to start getting into some track days again. After using my S13 a few times which really isn't set up well for the tar we decided to look around for a dedicated track car. Luckily for us an old friend of ours had purchased a 33 over 10 years ago from Japan had it complied and then unfortunately had someone side swipe it just 6 months later. The car was written off but he kept it as it had only sustained panel damage and he thought that he would turn it into a track car or repair it one day. Luckily for us he just never got around to it. In fact he had got as far as repairing the panel damage and that's it. The car then proceeded to sit in a garage for 9 years without being touched. We talked to him first when we decided we really wanted to get a car for the circuit and by now he had realized he just was never going to do anything with it and let us take it away for a small fee. This is what it looked like when we got it. It was then time to get started on it. Our goal of this build really was a cheap track car nothing too fancy just a car we could grab a few times a year and go have some fun. We started then with trying to get it to run to see just how much work the car really needed. It had been well looked after before it was stuck in the shed so we were hopeful it wouldn't be too bad. First things first was fuel and unfortunately the filler/breather assy had been removed from the tank so we new it wasn't going to be pretty in there. Sure enough the fuel had gone very stale and the whole inside of the tank was a mess. We pulled the tank out (bitch of a job) and proceeded to clean it out. We replaced all the lines and fitted a GTR fuel pump we got cheap (thanks SSS) so we could continue with getting it to run. I dropped the oil/water and at the same time i removed the standard exhaust system (turbo back). From owning a couple of Skylines over the years and having numerous friends with them i was lucky that i new i had some parts i could get my hands on for nothing which included a complete exhaust system. With that fitted we grabbed a battery and turned the key. I couldn't believe it when it fired up first go and sat there running perfectly. The build could really get started now. I started the fun job of removing most of the interior including the lovely rat shit everywhere..... Next step was a half cage mainly to add some safety to the car plus make a seat mount as well. Once that was complete we got the paint done so it was all 1 colour again. At the same time i got my old 17inch 34 GTT rims and painted them black ready to for some tyres. A friend of mine owns Tyres Plus Windsor so he hooked me up with some Khumo ESCTA semi slick tyres he had lying around. We also got the car wheel aligned and confirmed everything was straight underneath the car. Hicas was also removed at this time. Next upgrade was fitting a Oil cooler and remote mounting the oil filter. With all that done it was time to test the car out at the track just to give us an idea of how it all went pretty much in standard form before we spend any money on the car. Before hitting the track i also serviced the calipers and fitted some spare A1RM pads i had from the Silvia. I only got the 1 session in the car as i had a wedding to attend but Dad put it through its paces and it ended up with about an hour of track time at SMSP last week and it performed perfectly. Best time i could manage on my 5 laps was a 2:05:10, not really sure how that compares but id never driven there and was having fun trying to keep up with a 370Z that was there. Things noted was some slight brake shudder coming from the front brakes under very heavy braking and the fact it handled well like a boat as they say haha. Next step now is it will be getting some MCA reds an R34 Intercooler i have lying around and a catch can. Next event is Wafefield park at the end of May to see how it feels with those upgrades. I'm also looking to change out the front bar and fit some side skirts and better rear wing. No power mods for the moment i really want to get back into driving and concentrate on making the most of the corners not just letting her rip down the straights to make up time.

I am also looking forward to this year to see who else can shine with Loeb now not running the full season. I'm not sure Hirvonen can win it this year if he does not at least set the pace a little more but like previously mentioned it will mean Ogier and Latvala will need to keep it on track and no excursions. Sordo can also show some good pace so it should be a good year, hopefully we can get some different people on the podium and have a close championship.

They are just the LED rear tail lights for R34, type that into ebay you will find plenty available.

That was me, thanks. Didn't see another skyline though? PS: car is actually blue although its pretty dark.

Spotted MADGTS this morning on Sunnyholt road still see that car fairly often around there and Kings Langley

It's not bad, on the road it pulls from about 2500rpm all the way to 7000 and is fairly linear. On the dirt though and with altitude you do loose some of that response, but it is pretty impressive and very rarely do you find it bogging down off boost even when you get it a bit wrong. The ratio in the gearbox from 2nd to 3rd is the only time you notice bogging down slightly if on a hill put its not bad and still pulls, which will now be fixed with the new gear set I'm only running the car on 10psi of boost I've run it once on 17psi but its just undriveable, its bad enough keeping the rear tyres on it.

Haha yep it sure is brake smoke, was a hard left and hard to see coming from pretty much flat in 4th gear run downhill so the brakes were working hard trying to pull it up.

Ran the AMSAG Orange City Rally 2 weeks ago and was hoping for another strong event in the Silvia. This event was part of the 2WD Master Series also so there was a big field with plenty of competition. I was really looking forward to the competition and to see if we could continue our good run. I was seeded first on the road because of my win in the last event so was a little bit worried about sweeping the loose gravel. Unfortunately i never got to finish stage 1 the gearbox decided it had enough and let go about 4km out from the end of the first stage which was about 27km long. Luckily we had the incar footage so we could at least compare our time against some of the other top runners after the event. It showed we were definitely on the pace and looked like we would of won the 1st stage by at least 20 seconds. Will be now spending some time on building up the gearbox it was the last part of the car that needed upgrading but i was hopeful it would get us through this season. Looks like ill be getting an Albins gear set hopefully that will be a big improvement. Incar of the first stage.

I can only imagine, maybe one day ill get a chance to take one for a spin. It did have some variety but it was mostly the fast open shire roads, unfortunately the stages that got cancelled were the ones that went into the forest and last year were a good mix of everything and less of the long straights.
-
A bit of footage from the Forbes Rally, how good does that BDA sound.
-
This is Stage 6 of the rally, was a stage with a bit of everything and not so much of the long straights. Bit of footage from 1 of the spectator points on the first stage.
-
Got a new incar camera too, the old one did alright for just an Aldi camera but it was time to get something a bit better. I am now using a GoPro HD2 with skeleton case, i am pretty impressed with the quality of the footage and the sound is heaps better as well.

That sucks, what happened? We just ran the Amsag Forbes Shire Rally last weekend, went really well for us bagging another win in the Silvia, have only put up some incar of a spin we had after lunch but will put some more up soon, apart from that it was a good event for us. The roads were dam fast and smooth even after the rain they had during the week. We only had 1 stage cancelled due to rain but it was a shame as it is 40km through the Back Yamma forest and it was awesome last year.
-
Thanks, Yeh it really is starting to work well now, its nice to finish an event and not have a huge list of things you want to change or try differently. As per your request here is stage 2.
-
Yeh it would be pretty awesome, that BDA is dam nice and you can never get tired of the noise it makes.
