  1. The same can be said for many a car. Especially, GTR's coming in from Japan. At least here I gave it a good going over and then had a pro inspection and comp test. Thats a good start. I don't know what else I'm supposed to do pull the entire car apart and check each piece? I'm confused with the REVS check etc nothing else. Trying to iron out the numbers.
  2. Merli, could u check your private messages please I'm one confused chap.
  3. Results are in on compression test: 1 = 180 2 = 175 3 = 170 4 = 175 5 = 175 6 = 180 Oil is old needs changing. Air filters need recharging. 1 tyre has a slo leak. Needs new wiperblades. Few cracks on spoiler. No smoke was evident during idle or under load during road test and the car behaved normally. Looks like I might be owning a blue whale instead. Provided the REVS check is clear.
  4. Thanks Guys, Merli in particular for that excellent reply. Now I've got some good ammunition to make my decision following the comp test/inspection. The dealer assured me word of mouth only that the engine was healthy and that the white smoke was due to car being washed. I will attempt to get my deposit back if the mechanicals are poor as per the inspection, due to the fact that he stated clearly that the engine was good. 1 1/2 hrs in theory till the inspection I will keep u guys appraised of developments.
  5. Ok guys for the inspection today at 12 - 2pm. Can someone give me a healthy range of compression numbers accross all 6 cyliners? Mmm looks like anything under 120 = engine rebuild. Can anybody shed some light.
  6. N/A you would do me a great service by PM ing me all details so I can work out if it is indeed the very same car. You continue to leave clues and abstract comments without helping someone out. Is this too much to ask, or are there other issues at play here? If PM is no good feel free to email [email protected] If u are thinking that I should have enough info to go on with you are wrong I need better evidence so I would appreciate some help. Thats not an unreasonable request is it?
  7. I don't think it was steam. Although I didnt hold my hand above it to check (should have). It did seem to go away though after a few decent revs... The engine reved out nicely. No strange sounds. I'll let u guys know how the mech/comp test goes tommorrow. That and the REVS check are the last 2 hurdles the owner has accepted my offer. I will loose the $600 from deposit and mech check but figure thats a small price to pay on avoiding an expensive mistake, if the mech check fails. I will need to fix that door and the rear panel next to it though. Not a roadworthy issue but I cant stand things not straight.
  8. lol pentae what the hell was that? You haven't inspected a 33 GTR recently have u? I know u don't like the whales but I also know ur hunting a GTR.
  9. N/A please tell me what color this car was your talking about. Set my mind at ease please...
  10. This car does not have stock wheels. The grill has a GTR badge. The front bar is not an original standard front bar. Just curious what color is the car you are talking about. Assumption is the mother of many mistakes. Your reply is a bit smug please feel free to PM me with any constuctive comments if u know this car so I can avoid making a mistake. Richard
  11. Mmmmm I am really starting to worry about this white smoke. It occurred when the car was idling after being cold. Had it idling for about 10mins. The guy tried to convince me that all his cars did that after they had been washed? After reving a few times it did go away though? The smoke was kind of blowing out and wafting vertically from the tip it seemed very diffuse and light. Not blowing straight out like I' ve seen other smoky zorsts do. Im not sure whether to forget about it and save myself the $150. I mean even with a pre inspectin check and compression test the problem may not be identified, right.

This car is around $30k registered btw. Yes cheap for a 33R.

  14. Didn't realise they got a new one. Will check the numbers in engine if it passes the inspection/compression test. Maybe thats why i got no hits on REVS cos of new number?
  15. Ok guys I need advice on engine/vin/chassis numbers. It doesn't look right to me, I did find it hard to read his writing. I will verify myself under the bonnet and check the numbers with REVS before purchase but here goes. Engine : RB26047818A (seems ok) VIN/Chassis: 6T91MPAAAR1BFH002 Thats doesnt look anything like my gtst's number. I would have expected a BNR33 or similar? He's got writing like a doctor!
  16. Correction I havent bought it just put a deposit on it. Lergo I have arranged for an onsite compression test and pre purchase inspection this wednesday 12-2pm for $150. If I don't go through with the purchase I loose my $450 deposit plus the $150 comp test or $600. Figure its worth taking the punt on for $600. I feel better now. The thought of owning a 33GTR is really freaking me out. I need to settle. Then I need to think about alarms. That's the thing that worries me the most its 2x the thief magnet than my gtst.
  17. anybody know if compression tests can be done by a mobile type mechanic?
  18. Well in my defence it was a whole 9 months ago......... lol. Yes, I am an impulsive idiot. If I've made a mistake everybody can say we told u so etc cos I'll deserve it. If I haven't, I've got a bargain. If I have um... I'm not gonna think about that.
  19. I'm scarred. The car does have a little damage where somebody has tried to jimmy the door open. Also the front bar is a little damaged to (someone tried to remove it) The car does have a little bit of white smoke coming out the exhaust however after a few revs it went away and didnt come back. Anyway the price is such that I could afford to fix the door and a turbo even 2 if need be a still be doing ok. Apart from that I checked the car thoroughly and it looks good. * Checked the radiator for white deposits near the cap - none. * No rust in the boot. * No unusual sounds from drivetrain, gbox or engine. * No perceivable leaks engine or otherwise * Interior clean. * Rest of panels straight. * Engine sounded good and normal. * 70k on clock (who really knows) * 95 model * 400r side skirts, front bar and bonnet (might be fake i wouldnt know) * supplied with safety certificate and rego * aftermarket exhaust looks to be only cat back * pods (m's?) * Enkei wheels 17in i think. Fingers crossed i get it and it turns out ok. Either way I will let u guys know. I'm an impulsive idiot but I did have a dam good look at everything I know a bit about mechanicals etc - and I know people etc.
  20. That car didnt happen to be located in the Sunnybankish area did it? I'm in the same boat. Although my budget isnt that good. I'm in no hurry though either. I've inspected more dodgy than good so far. It will be worth it in the long run methinks, to be patient. In the meantime, I will continue to ride my silver whale I wish we could have a solid indication of R32 SEVS compliance. Otherwise its 89's only it seems with the 15yr rule ending 1.1.05
  21. Very nice. Now I know exactly how they would look on mine. Nice, sleek, light. Most importantly NO bling bling! Mate is that the titanium silver or the hyper gold? Inso could u send me some more pics like side on n stuff. Like to see how much they stick out and how fat they look. Are they 17 inch?
  22. Please let me know if u know of any in good nic for sale in South East QLD.
