  1. holy crap! Is this thing a car or a spaceship. I'm truly impressed this car is 8 years old. Be lucky to get air con in a 8 year old Holden. Whats that thing above the battery with all the wires comin out? Thanks a heap for help - I need it
  2. Hi all, I'm just not used to this level of tech. I'd like to reset my ECU but am not 100% on the location of the battery. IE when i open the bonnet I'm pretty certain its the black boc where a bunch of fuses seem to be just behid the window washer container. I'm assuming that I would just disconnect both the red terminals on the side closest to the engine and that would disconnect the battery? Please pity and help the skyline noob :uh-huh:
  3. Thanks, Wow after driving a VL commodore 3L auto this skyline is amazing - handling, power, looks kills it in every way. Just be careful in the wet this thing will spin the rear wheels in any gear - it can be a bit scarry. Great tourqe though u can change through the gears at 2000rpm and its fine, once you go over 2500 u can start to feel that turbo kick in and its wooshka from there on! I'm on a high - hehe!!! @ Richelieu... I get the impression that compliancers will take off all aftermarket gear excluding stereos and fit with standard items but will refit your mods after registration for a fee (increased compliance cost up to $2k more I've heard - which I guess could be worth it depending on mods).
  4. Joy! My car is ready to be picked up from compliancer tommorrow. Hopefully Queensland Transport will not give me any grief with rego and I should be driving it back up the M1 tommorrow. Feelin like Big Kev.... IM EXCITED
  5. muhaha its a 2000 model - something like that its not a 2003 anyway!
  6. Hi, Can anybody help I'm in SEQ and need then for my safety certificate... Rich
  7. Rev, I have read your thread on mid 13 second with stockish R33 gtst and would like to follow your advise ie, * K&N panel filter inside stock airbox * 3inch FGK cat-back exhaust (very quiet and probably more restrictive than some exhausts) * 3 inch stainless dump pipe off the turbo 'wrapped' with DEI thermal tape to the cat. This dump does not have a sepparate wastegate screamer or feed pipe. * Diff Cradle kit or 'pineapples' , the Whiteline kit No. KCA349. * Ogura Lightwieght flywheel 4.8kgs. * Ceramic puck sprung clutch and stock pressure plate * Wrapped turbo to intercooler pipe (DEI thermal tape). * Removed panel behind stock intercooler. * Timing set around 20+degrees advance. * disable the carbon canister fume feeds to the intake. * Turbo smart bleed valve (cheap one) set to 10psi boost * Simex 205/50 16 inch rear tyres. let them down to 19psi. * NGK coppers ...6ES gapped to 0.7mm. Oh yea and I will avoid the don'ts at the bottom too. My questions is do you advise to do the above in that order. Also I'm wondering about things like resetting the ecu after every mod also. I'm getting my factory standard R33gtst this Wednesday and want to start mods based on your work. I'd like to have a HSV killer too - a bit sad I know but we all have our querks...
  8. Exactly I'd have the R33 GTR anyday over a new HSV plus you'd have $$$ left over to make "Godzilla"go even faster.
  9. after owning a 81 falcon, 76 escort, 79 commodore, 87 commodore I'm sure I will be happy mate. To me straight line perfomance is only as important as ride quality and handling I think the R33 will be ample for me... More like a case of no matter what you get you're always gonna want something better, faster etc. Maybe a result of the materialistic society we live in maybe just me maybe both. Im sure this Wednesday when I'm driving the car up the M1 from the compliance shop to Brisbane I will be shaking with excitment and loving my new toy with a big dum grin. Probably wont even notice any HSV's and wont care if i do. There we go i feel better already - self therapy...
  10. OK. I'm upset now my nextdoor neighbours getting a new HSV which is going to be faster in a straight line than my car... Please tell me mine with handle better, go round corners faster and hopefully I'll feel betta about it... Yea i know i can get mods n stuff and that he paid $50k and i paid $20 but it still suxors Oh yea and i know there will always be somebody faster (lots actually) but a factory commondore
  11. s15 definately nice car but I would rather get a nice clean series 2 R33 and spend your leftovers on mods. You could have yourself a nice looking and fast car.
  12. LOL @ piccy above... paulr33 as a guy also upgrading from a VL with similar mileage can you tell me what to expect when i get my R33 gtst in a few days? major differences etc - well besides the obvious like far nicer looking car etc
  13. Coolies, Nice to know the commondores good for something other than pulling caravans and taxis....
  14. how much did u pay 4 it?
  15. after reading about threads on stock airbox and these filters I'd like to get one. Whats a good price? Wheres the best place to get one (Brisbane) Oh I just went to the k&n site but am unsure which model to get as they dont have skyline under their nissan section. ..although i have heard something about them being the same used in the VL commondore???
  16. Compliance is costing me $3850 + tyres which is pretty good under the new import scheme. This includes a safety certificate that I believe is the QLD equivalent of the green slip. Rego costs me $700 incl stamp duty for 1 year. Insurance is going to cost me $1285 going thru a broker but Im 28 with no accidents try these guys anyway http://www.gng.com.au/
  17. Hi, I have to give the value of mods on my R33 to insurance company but have no idea on how much my starbo turbo timer and carrozeria CD player are worth... Any ideas here's a piccy...
  18. Hi all, Thanks in advance (I failed Japanese at Uni hehe).
  19. OK. Update on the situation as promised have Telegraphic Transfered the FOB to Japan. Have booked in for compliance at $4550 including tyres. Have booked a customs agent also. Car is on the MV Chijin . Apparenlty, it will take about 3 days to clear from the port and then be trucked to the Gold Coast for compliance. After that its time to register.... After that I'll get a passive approved immobiliser for insurance and arrange insurance with Unique After all that I get to enjoy my new wheels I hope. I know it won't be quiet as fast as a WRX but it will certainly look better in my eyes. Ill post again when I've got it registered.....
  20. go here and click on stock id numbers
  21. should find some info on dash removal from R32/R33 here http://book.reel-zone.com/
  22. This workshop will be doing the compliance
  23. Heres a really good pdf i found all bout skylines including a section on what to look out for skyline book :uh-huh:
  24. Thanks Shell, I can't stop looking at the photos - I'm obsessed and have to wait till the end of September You'd think perhaps they could use their common sense when it came to things like a turbo timer IE let it pass. As I understand all they do is idle the car for a while to cool the car down after you park it right!?!? Yea it look nice and clean hope theres no surprises! Theres a question mark on the auction sheet next to mileage but Geoff assures me that the interior looks close to 59k travelled. I'm driving an auto 6 cylinder VL commodore ATM so I'm thinking its going to be a substantial step up lol (I've seen the light.. finally)
  25. Geoff @ Prestige explains all of this much better than I at Prestige FAQ
