  1. a manual is better, a tiptronic is 1/2 way as good as a manual from a normal auto IMHO its good also being on boost (albiet lesser) when changing also, at least thats what it feels like. its bad that there is a gap in the changes but this can be remedied with a shift kit so I have read on here. and yes Bob u were right once I got used to the steering wheel shifts I find them better than the paddle, not a wank at all. Being that equivalent manuals cost at least $5k more a tiptronic is not a bad option IMHO.
  2. Unfortunately, his ignorance and arrogance prevent him from seeing this
  3. No probs with other makes of cars, but this is a Skyline forum and u come here boasting about how good u and ur car is. Don't expect to get a warm reception, especially if you don't really read what other people are posting and come back with some factual/level headed arguments. Sure I can believe with 4L displacement and a large turbo that an XR6T is fast and can very fast with only a few mods in a straight line but I find it difficult to swallow that an XR6T is going to make a better track car than a GTR. GTR's were designed as track racing cars from the get go, XR6T's are powerful family sedans with a few enhancements over a mundane family car. GTST/GTT are somewhere in between. In either case the build quality in my GTT exceeds that of a 98 falcon, and would not be far behind a honda.
  4. So which tyres are good for track days?
  5. Auction grade 4.5 series 1 manual < 50k
  6. 92-94 GTR's @ grade 4 (no major accident damage) can be had for $25k on the road, albiet stock, imported thru SEVS. Complaince is now $3000 + tyres. Take a GTR for a good test drive, then make up your mind.
  7. I wouldn't be happy if i had imported an 89 R32GTR. For the same price u can now get a 92-94 GTR. I think this is because: A) Exchange rate is about 85jpy per AUD B) Reduced demand for R32GTR has reduced prices C) Compliance is now fairly affordable Lots of 89/90 GTR's on carsales seem to be having trouble selling...only the very good ones/rebuilt ones should be commanding mid 20's now. I would have to borrow $50k from the bank and I wouldn't want to run the risk. The import market is depressed anyway. I reakon the lucky to make $6k on that. Rather invest in a live in house or bluechip. But that R32GTR track car is definately at the back of my mind. I only just got the GTT thou, I've been too flagrant with cars as it is the last few years. Maybe u shud sell that GTST and get a GTR now Gordon? Just budget for a rebuild though! Be interesting to see how these GTR's go in the next few months...
  8. Just called em. $3,000 + tyres. Except if it has Brembos (VSPEC) = an additional guesstemate $1,500 for pads! Ouch!
  9. dam thats alright, they're in Aspley too 5 mins away. I paid $3,850 for GTT few months back and I thought that was cheap. Any feedback on Shogun ie do they do a decent job. PM if poss.
  10. http://english.auto.vl.ru/auctions/ they are actual sale prices too in USD, I've just converted to AUD and added an arbitrary $11k to get car on road in Aus. Think it would be reasonably close ie within 1k provided there are no nasty surprises or labour charges for removing non standard parts.
  11. I've assumed $4k compliance. Yes I was bored this arvo

  13. same car...no similar car...yes first thing i noticed apart from obvious is the cornering its more direct and a little more nimble. GTT 1,410kg (98, manual, coupe) GTS25t 1,360kg (93,manual, coupe) heavier but due to 19 extra kw has small power to weight advantage.
  14. Assuming at least 1 of the 5 RAWS are selling to the public what is the going rate for R32GTR SEVS compliance at the moment?
  15. Rice, (in my opionion) is a waste of $. The closest I would get to rice would be buying a car with a factory bodykit and maybe putting some nice gunmetal Volk TE37 or similar jap wheel. Buy the GTS look after it properly. Save the $ spent on rice, gain interest then, Buy a GTST look after it properly. Save the $ spent on rice, gain interest then, Buy a GTR. A GTR will put a much bigger and long lasting grin on your face than a riced GTS will. Disclaimer: this is all just IMHO and is based on the enjoyment of using a car rather than looking at one. IE do u want to be a or a :Pimp2:
  16. So resonator just removes drone or does it also reduce the loudness? I'm thinking of going a CES twin dump + getting Jack Beedhams at Redcliff to fit the rest (hiflo cat, 3 inch mild steel, resonator, a muffler (not cannon). Wondering if that will be quiet enough cos it will save me $500 compared to a full CES system. Like to keep the stock muffler for my sleeper look but prob too restrictive.
  17. just thought I would resurrect this... Choyda how is in cabin drone now with the new muffler and resonator? Any noticable drop in power after installing those?
  18. i thought that front bar was stock? perhaps i need to visit the optometrist.. mods are coming along quickly Stan, guess that boost controls working for u now. I've got lots of catching up to do!

  20. i don't like doingthiswholesuburbisdodgything but... some parts of beenleigh/eaglby/loganholme can be a bit mexican... (went to high school there)
  21. Went out there but just ended up spectating. Probably a good thing cos I had no idea how it all worked. Still enjoyed it thou, few lines there, more bikes than cars thou. Whats wrong the the GTR its a 89/90 32GTR right? Done any 7k launches in it? I'll let u know when I'm going to QLD raceway next! PS soz for hijack...
  22. Anything from 22-30k from what I've seen. I've only seen 1 34 manual sedan so far. Those rear doors can make life a lot easier sometimes. Hows things Chris?
  23. R34 sedan looks great to my eyes, I do admit a certain bias though hehe I can't really see how 2 door variants perform better at the track anyway. Sure if they weigh more but the difference between my car and a manual coupe is 40kg. Not that much and can be offset by the size of a driver. Suspension? Is it softer? Most who are track regulars change stock susp anyway.... Seen a few 34 sedan drifting in Jap also... Seems like a misconception to me. I mean do rear doors increases chassis flexing or something
