  1. Prefer manual but I bought a tiptronic auto and saved myself $5-6k on the same car with manual. The tiptronic is about half way as good as a manual compared to just auto.
  2. and how much does the sti cost? bit more than $30k... the S15 sounds to be lots closer to his budget and imho looks much nicer. its not hard to do low mid 12's in S15 all day everyday albiet you will need more mods but if something goes bang much cheaper to fix. imho the S15 is all round better proposition. esp for <30k. anyway we all know that a well sorted rotary will eat all these vehicles in straight lines.
  3. Get an S15 $26k + FMIC $1k + Turbotech boost control $40 + Quality zorst $1.5 + Quality tyres $1.2k = <$30K but > WRX, GTSt with same mods! Not hard to get S15 into 12's and if things go wrong cheaper to fix lots of aftermarket goodies for SR20DET.
  4. would look :Pimp: or :Pimp2:
  5. don't worry I'm a track virgin too
  6. GTS32 I also need an account name.
  7. Hi, Might be if I can get some time off work will let u know. I haven't had a track day before so where do i go and what do i need to bring? I'll take it pretty easy being my first time etc. Mines a 34gtt tiptronic hope thats ok. The brakes are good with plenty of meat on the pads.
  8. Looking for a place that does them on the Northside for a reasonable price. Anybody know?
  9. Don't buy a bleed valve buy one of these http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...75&page=1&pp=25
  10. yea meant this week as in 6 to 10th June.... couldn't have been wednesday though. Anyway point is my eyes are pealed and now i know what it looks like.
  11. Will keep a look out also. I did see a Dark Blu R34 headed South along Gympie Rd Kedron last week around 4:45pm. Don't know if it was yours or not was in far left lane, light was fading and it was moving pretty quick. Just down from the Dept of Emergency Services building where i work.
  12. I've got Goodyear F1 GSD3's on the GTT. They grip nice in dry and wet. RRP is $280 for 225/45/17 (stock gtt wheels), managed to talk them down to $225. Goodyear @ Strathpine.
  13. don't buy them mate. had them on my gtst and they were rubbish in the wet.
  14. Apparently the cannons are louder than say a SS twin tip, so that might help reduce the drone. Another option I'm thinking about is BATMBLS splits and hi flow cat with a Fujitsubo or similar cat back (bottom one in pic) can't see if thats got twin tips and not sure how droney vs restrictive that would be. Would work out about $1400 + labour, unless I can find a cheaper GQ Jap cat back.
  15. Splits make it sound angry don't they... where is Exotic Exhaust located and how much did u pay (pm if you wish). I'm hunting for a zorst in Brisbane also for GTT. Tossing between $2k for a CES system or other options. How droney is it in cabin if u get up it (h8 droney!)?
  16. "Wastegate creep is when the wastegate is starting to open even tho your car is nowhere near full boost. As most wastegates work off springs they are set up to creep open as boost builds up. So your turbo is not spooling up as fast as it could since some of the exhust gas is being directed through the wastegate." This is what I think is happening but would like to know more... Excess boost is normally vented by the wastegate when boost pressure exceeds factory limts. This controller intercepts the boost and controls just how much pressure the wastegate sees (controlled by how much its screwed in or not). This used to be the solenoids job but now is the controllers??? Someone enlighten us! EDIT: Thanks Warren.
  17. Unit is now $469 was $549 might wait for them to come down some more. http://shop.ryda.com.au/main_itemdetail.as...1&item=KDDV5105
  18. Yes could have exagerated that point in retrospect (guess i was excited at finally getting it working). I think that the guage does sit higher on idle than it used to though or am i just imaging this? Certainly easier to get that turbo whistle happening in either case. Think I might have to take it out tonight again, possibly up a few hills. All in the name of testing of course :kewl:
  19. As other guys have said boosts earlier and holds very well and holds it in a stable manner. Basically, even on idle the boost guage does not sit near zero anymore its like 1/5 of the way up. Torque builds quickly making the turbo more usable = better average power. I only have this and K&N Panel and I've noticed a good difference in limited testing. Working installation on R34 below. Happy to help as others have helped me, as u can see I had some dramas But all good now. Mmm perhaps I should plug up that T piece. Next step for me is full CES Racing zorst, should get the silver service taxi moving nicely.
