  1. Quoting a 40+ rwkw gain on a stock 33gtst. Can anybody confirm these figures? http://www.cesracing.com.au/
  2. Hasn't had any aussie fuel yet still at mechanics after compliance. I'm sure replacing the timing belt will resolve any timing issues.
  3. Gavin says the timing belt is loose and needs replacing. Hopefully, tensioner and idler bearings are ok and doesn't need a fuel pump otherwise won't get much change from $1k. The car has 80 something thousand km so guess the timing belt is due for replacement shortly anyway. Guess I won't be making a claim as this could happen at any time i suppose. What do you think?
  4. i checked the oil when it cleared wharves there was plenty and it wasnt old. we agree to disagree then... after Gavin's diagnosis I'll make my decision as to wether to proceed. If the engine is damaged due to mishandling then it is there responsibility to fix it. As I said the knocking was not apparent after speaking to Tony @ Motorworld and no evidence that I can see in the auction report.
  5. Seems to be coming from engine and its an auto tiptronic. Yes, will wait to see what Gavin says. At this stage I think that the problem may have been caused by wharfy abuse either here or in Japan. Since it didn't exist when it left and I heard it the day it cleared the wharves. That clause quoted by Kiwi is a lame loop hole, plenty of damage can occur which is not obvious to the naked eye. Will wait and see. Hopefully picking the car up next week... finally... dam import waiting game... I don't think I wanna import again after this.
  6. Did u give them all the documentation and evidence to back up your story? What were the reasons for refusing?
  7. My GTT has a knocking sound coming from the engine. Only seems to occur when idling or I only notice it then. Its getting transported to Gavin Wood to get looked at. Guys @ compliance said that a few 33's had come thru with same noise but this was the first 34. Strange methinks cos it's grade4B, with 80K with Jap log books that have been filled also & totally stock. Seems to be a well looked after car. So after checking with supplier and auction sheet (although can't read all that) its here http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...333#post1293333 the supplier said that the noise wasn't occuring when it left Japan. So I made a Kips claim and got this back from them today. That last bit are they trying to say I don't have a leg to stand on because it can't be seen only heard. Guess it may be that obvious or may not I need more opinions.

  9. Can somebody help me interpret this? Things I think i know: 98 ER34 25GTT, Grade 4 (interior grade B), 80,370km, Auto, Athlete Silver in colour, auto aircond, power windows, power steer, airbag (4) Defects: medium crack left side skirt, small crack right side skirt, small scratches right hand rear door, medium scrape left hand front bar, medium scratch bonnet What I'm interested in knowing: any evidence of engine problems/sounds or anything bad at all (I'm making a KIPS claim), what AW means in the options, what the "special features" are for the car (box above front of car), what the positive and negative comments are (left hand side next to car) & what the writing on the windscreen means. Thankyou!
  10. Toby can you provide links or articles etc which have info on these 2 comparisons?
  11. to make this fair perhaps you should pose the same question in xr6turbo.com then you can see the bias coming from the other side

  13. do you want a car with high build quality, unique/excellent looks, high reliability, a car that integrates the driver with nice feedback OR do you want a car that looks a little nicer than a standard falcon, has poor reliability (Mk1's), is not so integrated from a drivers perspective, but goes very fast in a straight line with more potential... in a straight line "real drivers car" is why i went GTT
  14. STZ qouted $3,150 + clutch $
  15. Seems to be a good chance of a matchhead fitting into there. Really you'll have to wait and see when it rolls out of the wharves or later perhaps. Bit like how long is a piece of string.
  16. Yay drove my car for the first time today. It came in thru motorworld. Seems to be a nice clean stock original car with only very minor imperfections. Off the the Gold Coast for compliance, the final stage. I was also stocked when I found all the original Nissan service manuals sitting on the drivers seat with log book service history, and manuals on the cd player and satellite navigation - not that I can read them Genuine 80k it seems! Which is believable given 7 year old car and Jap average km is 10k...
  17. If its coming in thru SEVS then Aussie tyres are mandatory. If its the 15 yr rule then tyres must be roadworthy.
