All parts were taken out of brand new current model HP laptops which had cracked screens - etc upon delivery, so were just parted out and used for spares. (But I dont need that many spare parts!) - 4GB DDR2 laptop ram (2x 2GB sticks) - $100. - 320GB SATA hard drives - $100. All parts have been tested thoroughly and work perfectly. The brands will vary (Samsung, Western Digital - etc). I have quite a few of each, so please let me know how many you want. Please research what type of RAM or hard drive your laptop will take before purchasing! Also, as most of you may know - as per normal - you must be running a 64 bit OS to get the benefits of the full 4GB ram, otherwise you will still get a large percentage of it usable, however not all of it! Hey mate, car is to order, will be paying retail - just have to keep it within my set budget (which for now will remain undisclosed!). Also SS8_Gohan, Good question! anyway - I have been looking in Sydney the past few weeks for a 34 GTR , there are not many available around here that are in my desired spec and colour, and the ones I have seen have not been up to scratch condition wise. Anyone that saw my old 33 GTR would know just how fussy I am! I recently passed up the offer on one of the 34 GTR's I was originally looking at after the owner came back to me and accepted my original offer - looking forward to see how my import experience goes instead. Have had great feedback about top secret imports from friends and my mechanic - etc so think this will be the way to go! Will keep you all updated!

Been a few hours now, everythings still running sweet. Couldnt get my head around the new pinning of icons, so i removed them all, then readded the quick launch bar and removed the 'task bar combining' feature so it makes it look like xp / vista again. I took a few screen shots. I might give the pinning another go a bit later on, but will leave it off for now! Havent found any faults yet this time around! Windows media centre, media player - etc and all the other programs now open sweet. My thoughts are that the original issues were caused by the incorrect driver installs.

Update - I formatted my drive completely and reinstalled windows 7 from scratch. I let it install my available standard drivers - etc one by one through windows update only. including the ones i had issues with before - the modem and the audio. This fixed the problem! After that, installed the remaining ones from the standard HP setup files from their website. I found that media center was crashing as soon as i installed the nvidia video driver. SO - I went to the nvidia website and downloaded their fresh install for my video card - and its now working sweet! With MSN - I dont group my icons in the task bar, so it was still doing that weird 2 window thing. So again, just running it in compatibility mode for vista until the new version comes out! Now it works fine and shows up near my notification area as normal and runs in the background without having to have it open in the task bar. Glad I gave it another go - looking forward to digging around to see what else is new.

I've emailed HP to see whats up with their website because when I go to download the drivers from them it just goes to a wireless assistant download page, it doesnt give the full list of available drivers as always! Also, from Windows Update - the drivers are available but fail the install because they are not "digitally signed!" haha anyone know how to bypass this so i can install the ones for vista from HP? or should i just wait and hope that HP release the ones i require?

LOL maybe ill try a reinstall instead of blasting it. Even media center doesnt close properly - it says "media centre has stopped working" and errors out! Interested to give it another shot giving the feedback about it has been positive!

Hey mate, I've seen one R34 GTR example from Top Secret Imports, its actually Garrys car and it looks mint. In regards to how long it will take to find the car I want and then get it - how long is a piece of string!? Im expecting the whole process to be atleast a few months. If your looking for a Supra, they already have some landed and ready to go. I saw them in their show room yesterday and they looked pretty sweet. Hope this helps you!

Look at my last post. What a winger! hahaha Thats what you get at 2am! Anyway, I will be blasting the new install today and putting vista back on. I think the main source of my problems was the fact that HP havent updated their site yet with the new drivers for windows 7. I was using the vista ones and majority of them were okay though. When I closed programs, i found that the majority of them would tell me that they 'did not shut down correctly'. Will wait a few weeks and then reconsider installing again!

I am so pissed. I installed Windows 7 ultimate (64 bit) on my laptop tonight. The simplicity has disappeared. The small things (for one - the quick launch bar) are gone and ive got the CPU and RAM meters up and it still appears to be just as power hungry as vista, even a clean install (with no other programs) on idle is using 27% of my 4GB ram. Although you can work around some of these missing features and add them with a bit of code, would the standard user know how to do this? The standard tasks i knew how to do before have now all changed - i.e. - organising my items in the start menu. I dont want to have to re learn shit - I can see the whole change of numerous processes and procedures pissing alot of people off. Its not 'better' its all just 'different', not user friendly. The bug count is f**ked. Even Windows Live Messenger doesnt work properly - and its a microsoft program. It opens the program in 2 seperate windows you have to run it in compatibility mode for Vista to get it to work. You'd think it would be someones job to test this shit! I know some initial teething issues are expected with the release of a new OS, but I was expecting a great operating system after microsofts last vista disappointment, and things are not looking bright. Anyway, looks like im heading back into the vista waters tomorrow anyway as it wont even let me install my sound and modem drivers just because they are not digitally signed. Microsoft wont even let me choose which drivers i want to install now.. whats next? I bet in their next service pack they'll remove functionality to be able to type the word 'Apple' or any word starting with 'i' on a PC. I've spent 3 hours trying to make this right and talking shit to myself saying its better than vista, but im only lying to myself. What a f**king failure of an operating system. Just a rant at 2am. What do you guys think of it? I can see what the replies to this thread will be. So i'll say it now - no, im not going to get a mac!
