Hi guys and girls, Today I placed an order with Top Secret Imports to bring over my new car - a Bayside Blue R34 V-spec GTR! This will be my first experience having a car picked out and brought over from Japan. I have made this thread to document the process, my thoughts and general experience as updates arise. Everything will be documented - from the moment I place the order until the moment the car is in my garage. I have chosen to go with Top Secret Imports (www.topsecretimports.com.au) due to their great reputation and numerous recommendations from friends. I have been dealing with Garry. Top Secret Imports are a licenced motor dealer and are able to simplify and perform the whole import process for you (Jap deregistration, quarantine, DoTaRS approval, shipping, Aus and Jap customs, cleaning, transport, compliance, registration - everything!) Garry understands exactly what I am after and I feel comfortable trusting his judgement to bring me over a fantastic car. For now, we play the waiting game. As the cars pop up available for sale over in Japan, Garry will send me the details, prices and pictures. Top Secret Imports dont just obtain their cars from the auctions, they also source them from dealers and private sales - so there is a large variety to choose from. All cars are thoroughly checked by their consultants in Japan and detailed reports / pictures are provided. Upon delivery, the car is guaranteed to be mechanically fine and in excellent interior and exterior condition (including the front V-spec lower lip and also the cars alloy wheels). The car will also be in accident free condition with no structural faults, rust damage or large repairs, or resprays. The vehicle will have no large scratches or dents, will not have worn upholstery or carpets and will not be missing any interior, exterior or mechanical parts. Garry advised that as per the companies normal practice, the $1000 deposit I paid today (24/10/2009) and also the payment of 2/3 of the cars purchase price (required after vehicle has been located and purchased in Japan) is 100% fully refundable if the car is not in the same condition which Top Secret Imports originally stated upon purchase / or if the car does not meet my expected standard when delivered in Australia. A very exciting time, will keep you all updated! Cheers!

Hey guys, I've noticed that SOME of the R34 GTR's appear to have a bit of rust around the brake light on the boot lid. Another area to check appears to be around the spoiler. Are there any other obvious areas on an R34 GTR which are known to possibly have rust? Or are there any other flaws causing common faults which should be checked? Cheers! -

Yeah i've done some serious shopping around and taken numerous importers and brokers into account. Top Secret Imports have capured my interest because they offer a 100% money back gurantee if the car for any reason does not meet my requirements when delivered, or even if i find a car local in the mean time - they will refund my deposit. I also liked the fact that they took me seriously when i walked in to their office. I'm 22 years old (and on top of that - i'll be the first to admit that I some times look younger than I actually am) but some of the dealers on paramatta road literally just laughed at me and thought i was talking shit when I told them what type of car im searching for. -

Both Mark and Daniel are the guys who initially recommended me to check out Top Secret Imports for the new car. Small world hey! I trust both, Mark and Daniel's judgement and am looking forward to working with Top Secret Imports to bring over a car. Messiah, cheers for your advice. No matter who I end up buying the car from - I will ensure that thorough mechanical and electrical inspections are performed. Will post results! -

Had another chat to the guys at top secret imports yesterday and will be placing an order for a car on Saturday. At present, I have not been able to find too much buyer feedback about them on the internet (which is quite normal anyway). With me being new to all of this, after speaking with them - I will be documenting the whole search and purchase process with updates as they are available (similar to a blog) from the moment i place the order to the moment the car is in my garage. Hopefully this will assist those who are also in the same boat to make the decision whether to import or buy local, and also give some feedback and exposure (which from my experience so far - im sure will be positive!) regarding top secret imports. Keep an eye out for a thread on this site in the near future -

Best Way To Sell A R33 Gtr?
KR4-GTR replied to KR4-GTR's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Just an update to this thread! Car sales premium ads definately do work. The car sold in less than two weeks to the first genuine buyer that called, and I had 3 others lined up for if the deal fell through! -
Hi all, Just thought i'd try my luck in here! Currently looking for an R34 GTR - has to be bayside blue and vspec / vspec II. Preferably in Sydney please. If no luck in the next few days, i'll probably be putting in an order to get one sent over from Japan. Willing to listen to all offers. Cash ready - can even settle today if you have the right car! Please shoot me a PM or give me a buzz on 0434 929 257 if you have one. If you PM me, please note in this thread that you have. I have a habit of browsing the site without being signed in some times. haha Cheers! Chris.

I wish you were selling these when i bought the centre caps from you! I had been searching for a set for months and got to the point that i would have paid alot more than just $2300 for a nice local set! if i still had my car i'd snap them up. Very popular rims - good luck with the sale mate!

Eugene - it looks like you must have found the car ad? lol I guess you could say the engine covers are a preview of what to expect with the rest of the car. But please dont post any direct links to the ad as i dont want to destroy the sellers chances of selling the car. She's pretty cool, and i dont think it was her who gave the car the thrashing. On a side note, I think the poor lady still believes its a vspec II because of the sticker. I feel sorry for her and felt like a prick having to be the one to tell her that its not. -

I believe so. -
Hi all, I'm currently in the market for an R34 GTR. I've decided that I want a vspec or vspec II bayside blue one - in excellent condition. As there arent a rediculous number of them available here in Sydney, chances are i'll end up having to get one imported. I went to Top Secret Imports today and expressed interest. The guys there seem pretty cool and explained the process to me end to end. Has anyone had any dealings with them? If so - please share your experiences, both positive / negative and help me decide where to go from here! Cheers!

^ It doesnt wear those plates anymore! haha Anyway, checked out the car today, doesnt look like its the one for me. However - if any of you guys have $55k ready to go, and another 10k handy to give it the love it will definately require over the next 6 - 12 months, its a great project car. Anyway, cheers for all the info and direction with this one guys, time for me to keep searching! -
^ who cares!? its quality and fairly priced for a quick sale!

R34 Gtr - Is This A Nismo Body Kit!?
KR4-GTR replied to KR4-GTR's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Thanks for the info guys! I'll do some more hunting around for a set when I get a car! -
I went the 33 GTR as i believe its more stylish and not as hard on the edges as a 32 GTR. Either model - it is getting harder to find a brilliant one now a days with both moving on due to age. If you decide to get a R33, try and get a series 3 - they look so much hotter with the xenons, lower lip and red stitching - etc! But there are still a few good ones out there. My old series 3 was all original and literally almost MINT (and i mean MINT) with just a few mods. I had 4 people wanting it - all at the same time! haha There appears to be quite a market for that particular model, it sold for my asking price. Maybe better resale value for you later on if you get one?

Hey mate, cheers for the direction Any idea on the actual price of the nismo ones? I saw that your car has them too - looks sweet! Are they fibreglass or genuine? -

Cheers for the info guys! Will have to check the car out from a mods perspective. I spoke with their mechanic - it blew the bottom end bearing about a year ago and had the motor rebuilt - not sure what else has been done since. He said it will still need a bit of work though. Nick - car has not been tuned since the rebuild, so that makes sense. How did you know it was running rich? saw it puffing smoke? -
Great looking car mate, i'm currently searching for one aswell - but in blue!

The last I heard - his brother may be running that work shop, lukes one of my best mates. I've sent him a message via face book for you - when he gets back to me with contact details - i'll post them up. Hope this helps! Cheers.
